You should spin and duck alot! They are easy to do and styley
Plus thats just one more concept to tack on to your dynos and mirages and whirls and anything else. Not only that but it will put you closer to five add contention, you are already capable and you have been, you just have to maximize your personal potential. Dont ever quit trying, and never let the bag touch the ground!

Thanks man! I have been trying to throw a little Spinning in from time to time but not as much as I should. I'm taking a slight break on progressing with my Ducking because I have been doing it wrong and it hurts my lower back. So I need to let it rest for a bit then tweak it so I do it properly. I too appreciate the kind words as well Mr. Rinowski.

Today was "Dyno-liscious". I spent almost all 3 sessions, about 2.5 hours, today doing Dyno's. I spent a lot of time trying Dyno's, both sides, from different sets. I hit:

 Toe set SS Dyno- Both Sides.
 Toe set Far Dyno- Both Sides.
 Strongside Dyno> Strongside Far Dyno. (Been wanting to hit that for the past 2 days.)
 Dyno>Dyno :!: :!: :!: I've been wanting to hit this for a few weeks and finally nailed it. Very clean. I started with Flip Dyno, now I just have to do it starting with my Strong Dyno.
My Clipper to Clipper has been getting better daily now as well, it's less strained, consistent sets, it has a nce flow to it. I'm pleased.
I've been worrying myself though. Lately I've been spending more time trying to improve individual tricks than improving my run length and diversity. I feel I should be working on both evenly in sessions but I get easily caught up in trying to hit something. I don't know, maybe I'm just worrying myself for nothing. Either way though, I have been having some excellent sessions, and in fact some excellent days overall. Managed to sort things out with my ex. Things are fine between us now. There was a lot of assumptions and tempers being thrown around and we talked yesterday and worked them out. Things are great.

Oh, and I hitting Spinning Clipper for the first time yesterday. :D

props on all the krazy dyno action! :P Can you hit reverse whirls? Usually that's a pre-req for dyno, LOL.

Props on spinning clipper, that is a favorite of mine these days. Make sure you start attempting flipside. Spinning is a great concept to have on both sides.

It's ok to spend a session every once in a while just schooling a few moves. Don't sweat it. Especially if you were having fun.

I'm glad to see that you are milking your being-highschool-with-lots-of-time-to-shred status for all its worth. That's great. I wish I had found freestyle at your age. You are making visible progress in this blog just week to week. Keep it up. Make sure to be drilling basics every session.

Awesome stuff. I wish my boss would finally give in and send me out to a meeting in RTP some time.

Thanks man! Nope, I have yet to hit Reverse Whirl either side. Though ironically I am unbelievably close to hitting Reverse Whirling Rake on my strong side heh. I've attempted Flipside Spinning Clipper multiple times but so far with no results. My spin is too slow and I have trouble spotting the bag. I feel my strong side spin is too slow too. And I also think I take to many steps to spin. It doesn't feel smooth. It's annoying. I spend all of lunch time, 45 minutes, and afterschool, 30 minutes, simply shredding my ass off. :) Some people come out when it's in the 30's just to watch sometimes. It depends though. I also shred afterwards at home for at least an hour. I tried making some runs today. I managed to bust out a 9 contact run, probably the longest run I've had in a month? It had Pickup's, Legover's, Butterflies, Osis' all BSOS. Pretty good. I still need to tweak my sets for Flip Mirage though... it's starting to annoy me really. Let's see... oh, I almost hit a Double Switch over of all things today. I was going for a Far Legover and just followed through with the Dex, didn't hit it though. Foot hit the ground before I could snag it. Probably won't try it again for a good while.
Ben, hurry up and get your ass up here. Hehe. `

Nothing special today really. About 1.5 hours of shred at school today. My Clipper game was splendid. Hit lot's of Gyro Osis' and Butterflies BSOS. I even had a few very nice lengthy runs. I managed to tweak my Ducking set so I'm not leaning over as far as I was before. It's a nice little Duck of my head is all, back feels wonderful. I also attempted tons of Flip Whirls. My leg isn't used to the motion so my right quad is stiff as can be and it hurts to go down stairs. I'm going to take a break from them, though I got VERy close to hitting a few. Dyno game was on as well. That's how I like my shred sessions to go, a nice mixture of runs and individual tricks. I'm going to start doing that more often.

Going to see a good friend tonight. Haven't seen her in a good while, shoud be fun. I'm also starring in a short film for my brother tomorrow. Maybe he'll record some of my shred.

The Shoot was superb today. We filmed three shorts in just over 6 hours. Pretty damned good. Didn't shred today but I discussed possibilities of making a Inspirational Short Footbag Film. We just might be able to do it. I'm going to be working on a good voiceover. I'm excited. Going to be filming my Online Sick 3 combo's soon. I've got some good ones I think. I've got a couple bags coming in the mail soon and maybe 2 more if I win the raffle, but if I don't, oh well. At least Brian and Holly have some more money for World's! :D I also talked with our videographers today about cheap video cameras for filming Footbag. They recommended, and even allowed me to test out, their Canon ZR500. Which ironically was the one I had my eye on. I'm going to be ordering some Stainless Steel to finally fill all of my Chainamille orders. Hopefully my wrist holds out. been a good day so far, hopefully it keeps up.

Bad session today. My Flip Clipper form was revolting. I couldn't try for Flip Whirl because of it. Everything was off. Meh. My ankle is being weird, whenever I walk it feels like the muscle on the outside of my left shin is being pulled. Tomorrow had better kick ass, I have a feeling it may.

Maybe I was a bit too pessimistic in the above post. I did hit a few things. I managed to hit a new link Osis>Whirl. That was pretty sweet. And I almost managed Ducking Clipper BSOS. There were two ladies who were in the same room as I was who were asking me a lot about it. They even asked me if I competed. I told them that that was my goal. They were very interested in it though. I'm now shredding at the gym regularly now. I feel that of all places, I have the best oppurtunity to recruit players here.

I'm going tonight. Should be fun, I think I'm going to focu on some strings and challenges tonight. Fuck Flip Whirl for now.

No shred today. Went to the gym and was invited to go to a "Spin" class. Basically it's 45 minutes of non-stop biking. Holy shiy was that intense. I'll probably have a rash on my ass though because bicycle seats are horrible. Going to film my Sick 3's for the online competitions tomorrow. I've got a few that use bothsided and look pretty sweet.

Spectacular shred today. I hit plenty of things. Here's a few that stand out:

 Butterfly>Flip Osis>Osis>Whirl>Whirl>Flip Osis> lost it in a SS Butterfy.
 Reverse Whirl! First time hitting this. Only one side though.
 Illusion!! This has been giving me greif for a LONG time. I was watching Nick Landes's Atomic and Nuclear sets and I started to think if I tried Illusion more like an Atomic but at the apex, I might hit it, and I did. 8 )
 Hop-Over Swirl for the first time since December.
 Flip Gyro Osis>Butterfly> Far Dyno

Those are just a few things. I'm feeling very good right now. Couldn't film due to rain though, maybe tomorrow...

Not much today. Haven't hit Illusion since yesterday. Came the closest so far to hitting Flip Whirl, Clipper was just a little slow, but not by much.

Ordered a video camera last night. Should be having a new video come out before Feb. ends. Won the Footbag raffle put on by Brian and Holly, can't wait to try those out! :P I've also got 2 bags coming from Ben Rea nd 1 from Technokicks so I've got a lot to look forward to.

Shredded for about an hour and a half today and am going to do another hour at the gym tonight. I'm going to start devoting my time to drills as I feel that I really to to start making my tricks much more consistent. I did a Butterfly>Far Legover>Rpt. drill today and hit the most contacts of it I've ever managed, only 9 but every little victory counts for something. I'm going to start using my Challenges thread again, I'm kind of annoyed at myself for having neglected it. I just made up another drill using both sides equally. Butterfly>Far Legover>Pickup>Rpt. so I'm going to work on those tonight.

I read David Clavens 4 year blog post earlier and I must say it made me really think about why I do Footbag Freestyle. I do play Footbag a lot for myself but I just can't deny the fact that I also play for other people. I'm not an odd one out at school and I have no need to impress anyone, it's just that I love the feeling I get when I hear somebody say "Oh that was crazy!" or just any praise in general. Actually, I guess in a way you COULD say that I'm still playing for myself due to the feeling I get when I do play for others but I don't belive that. I don't think there's anything bad in playing for others as long as you do play more for yourself, I just thought it was pretty interesting when I sat down and though about it. His post really did make me reflect on a lot though. And I think it's a good reality check to actually think about your life surrounding Footbag and how it all falls together so, thanks David. :D

A good 2 hours of shred in today. I didn't really hit everything that I wanted to though. My new video camera came so I started filming some Sick 3's for the online competition. I only hit 1, and not the one I wanted so I got pretty pissed. I didn't hit anything else worth mentioning. I tried a few drills. I haven't done any in about a month so I'm not doing so hot on them which is also really damned frustrating, but I'm noticing little improvements, and I really want to get all of my tricks solid and both-sided. So I'm going to force myself to dedicate half of my session to drills from now on.
I'm too lazy to type out how this all came about but let's just say that I locked myself out of my house, and a neighbor who let me use their phone asked me if I wanted to showcase my Footbag skills for 19+ college girls in March. I just might look into it. ; )
I have shin splints in my left leg so I'm going to be taking the weekend off. Maybe I'll I'll come up with some more drills for myself.

Had my first session this evening after a 2 and a half day break. No shred on Saturday, Sunday, or today until this evening. It was so spectacular. I recorded my entire session, about an hour. No real great strings, but I finally hit the Sick 3 that I wanted to for the online Competitions on camera so that was awesome. I made myself do drills for 30 minutes as I said I woould a few posts ago. Things are getting easier, though no huge breakthroughs. My Flip Butterfly needs a good bit of work on timing and the delay. My biggest highlight of this session though:

Flipside Whirl!!

After nearly a month, I finally hit Flipside Whirl! I tried it a couple times and messed up, but got closer each time. So I just paused and caught my breath and broke down the move and the timing in my head and told myself I could do it and... Bam, hit it clean. :D On camera as well. I also caught a good bit of Dyno action, both sided, on camera for my Febraury video coming out soon.

Not only that but I had an excellent day on top of that. *Pulled from a Myspace bulletin I posted earlier*:
So, I had an interview for Sharper Image today. I was nervous for all around 5 minutes and it only got better from there. He described the daily routines and all of the perks I would get for working there. Holy shit. I'll be acting as a salesman if I work there and there were so many ways for me to make money not including comission that I can't even remember them all. I'd start out at $8.50/hour plus all of the perks which is an assload of money for a first job! The manager was really cool too. I'm excited as hell. And I have an excellent chance of snagging this job. Woot!

I also forgot to mention that on Friday, the senior editor of the school newspaper came outside at lunch to watch me shred. Well, around October 2006, I was interviewed by the school newspaper about Footbag and made the issue. It wasn't too great of an article but it got the word around. Well she approached me when lunch ended and asked if I wanted to do a follow-up for the Senior editon, whioch is basically the last edition of the year and I happily accepted so I'm going to have them put together a great article cetering on the various events and more importantly Worlds this year. Hopefully it'll turn out great.

If you read all of that then props. Thanks for reading.

Alan, props on hitting whirl BS now. I think I mayyyyy hit it soon. Got some tips from one of the guys in my club, apparently my uppoer body form is all wrong and that was really making it difficult for me.

Also, way to go on getting that job. If you ever want to talk shop about selling and what not send me an email. I've been doing it for a while now. One book I would definitely recommend is Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People" great fundamentals on working with people and it translates directly into sales and business.

Way to promote footbag! Looking forward to your next video if the blog title is true :P

Doesn't look like they'll be sending me out to RTP any time soon :(

Hey thanks a bunch guys, it's a nice encouragement to read all of the replies. 8 )
Hey Ben! Thanks a bunch, I'll definitely check out that book and send a pm your way in the near future! And I know what you mean, upper body form was a problem for me when I was learning strongside Whirl, luckily I figured it out soon. And no worries. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, just give me a shout when you do come up and we'll tear it up at a mall or someplace where we can show off Footbag.

So today I played at lunch, afterschool, and this evening. I had a few good moments today. I managed Flip Whirl 2 more times today, one happening just a few minutes ago. I footed a whole bunch more which is still an improvement seeing as how I never footed one at all before hitting it yesterday. I also hit a few full downtime stronside Whirls pretty well. I tried Double ATW today for a couple minutes on both feet after relacing my shoes, the toebox is now twice as big and still comfortable. I was surprised at how close I came to a strongside one. Wow. But I also practiced Flip Osis a bit today as well, getting better each session. I drilled for about 20 minutes, didn't do so hot, I'll own it tomorrow though.

My Holly/Brinrd bags from the raffle came today as well as Mark Telmans bag! Holy hell, they are so beautiful. They have such even stitching and the filler feels great. I'll post pictures maybe. Still waiting on my Ben Rea bags and I have one from Alejandro on the way to test. :D

I've been watching the Nick landes VS. The Gorillaz video a LOT lately and it really makes me want to learn Atomic and Neo(even though he doesn't do any) and Nuclear sets. I tried out a few Atomics and they feel alright, better than I had expected for the first time but I really want to try those out. I'm going to make them something to work for though. Once I get my Dyno's, Whirls, Butterflies, Osis', and well everything else down I'm going to try those next.

I also had someone message me over myspace who has watched all the videos of Footbag on my profile and he seems genuinely interested. He even called me today to ask about how to start out, I told him bout Lavers, Mr. Sandbags and the work. He's honestly motivated. I think Siarhei and I will have some people to shred, once they learn a bit of course, with soon enough! I've got my fingers crossed.

Once again, if you read all of that, props.
