There are only two colors available. I didn't have any say in this matter, but at least there is a choice.

Sneak Preview (I'm about 95% sure I will have these by worlds... Toes and fingers crossed - Note that even though PF *should* have them by Euros, it takes a lot longer (several weeks longer) to get shipped overseas to the US):

Image

Image

These are the only pictures I have been sent... I have not seen them personally. They will be available in US sizes:

6 7 8 9 9.5 10 10.5 11 12

***Important Note: The Q02's are approx 1/2 size larger than Laver sizes. So if you wear a 9.5 Laver, you would want a 9 Quantum02 - Of course this is approximate - I'm just passing along what I know***

These are the Quantum02's - there were a number of "problems" with the Q01's that have been corrected in this version, according to Jan Zimmerman:
glue: the shoes are now glued properly and the shoe upper will no longer
separate from the sole
fabric: we have changed the mesh to a less slippery, more durable type
leather: we have increased the strength of the leather for more
stability/durability
sole: we have filled the holes in fron of the shoe for better crack resistance
and have changed the formulation of the sole (but as long as we can't afford a
two component sole there could still be the occasional cracked sole)
heelcap: we have added a plastic heelcap similar to that of the rod lavers
Peace.

These are some nice looking shoes, but they do look like they will still need the toe box mod. But maybe they don't with proper lacing. Does anyone else see this?

I think hes talking about modding them deeper down. Kind of like how the rod lavers are modded.

the point of quantums (i thought) is they wont need to be modded. those shoes in that pic arent even worn. im sure some "breaking in" will be needed.

I can only refer to the first version but there were no break in time for the shoes. They are much lighter than lavers and the layer at the inside and at the toe is very thin.
and to the modification thing, you just need only the lacing and maybe a better insole(spencos or something) and voila, ready for shred. ;)

two questions ...

a) the new material looks less slippery and more durable as stated, but it also looks much thicker. seeing as the slippery material used in the version one quantums was used because it was soft and thin, meaning you could feel the bag on your instep and toes ... how much thicker is this new material and does it also decrease bag feel?
my fear is that they will end up playing just like more expensive lavers (cause that's exactly what they are looking like in these pictures). i would love to see planet footbag post some specs (e.g. material thickness and overall shoe weight compared to out of the box lavers). either way, i plan to buy these ... i will be plenty happy if they feel/play like modded lavers straight out of the box :D.

b) the all black option looks charcoal in that photo ... are they black like the version one black, or are they dark grey?

I play in canvas lavers (the laver lo, with modded off surface) and you can still feel the bag, sometimes you need a bit of a heavier bag to fully feel it like you would in mesh though. I would venture to guess that the material for the instep and toe is the same, if not lighter than the stuff on my laver lo shoes, so don;t worry too much. Of course, you would have to find out for yourself if you like the surface or not, I just thought that I'd throw in my two cents about the canvas issue. The surface is sort of rough, so it sticks the bag better then mesh (I hate that feeling, which is why I don't play with anything mesh), but damn, those new quantums look off the hook. I am SOOOOOO picking up a pair at worlds!

I could probably go for two pairs of the Quantums displayed in the second pic. I think those look pretty fly.

Is there an estimated US cost? Chances are I won't reserve them, and will buy them at the first chance I get at Worlds.

Sounds like the're heavier now :( , anyone know? Part of what i was looking foward to was the lighness of the shoe

I saw some pretty epic stuff hit in quantums while I was in Germany recently!!

I for sure saw some sick solid shred and at least one beast in the 01's and I will say that I am really impressed with how well some players have taken to playing in them.

The new version looks like a great improvement!

Keep up the good work, it looks like you've got a solid shoe on your hands.. or should I say feet?
