Fair enough, for now anyway. The price will drop.
Disturbedboy365 wrote:it came with more than 8 gb of memory
Are you kidding? How is a phone with 8GB of internal memory not enough for you? That's... 2,000 songs... over 6 hours of video... I'm sure the memory will go up as time passes, but the price will sky rocket along with it. But how is 8GB not enough?
Disturbedboy365 wrote:it werent at&t exclusive *i hate at&t*
Agreed. AT&T is a crap phone company. For the next two years, Apple's contracted with them. More phone companies will take on the phone after though, for sure.
Disturbedboy365 wrote:it had better service plans... those service plans are shit and you know it :P  which is why its going to cost an extra 1.5 k a year to own an iphone instead of something cheaper
iPhone costs just over $2000 over the two year contract, to own and operate. That really isn't too bad of a price. That's like... $65-%70 month (including the price of the phone), and I'm paying $75 a month just for my phone bill right now... Paying the additional $20 a month would only make my bills $5 more a month for all the services iPhone has on it...

Seriously though... text messaging needs to start coming with plans... free of charge, as a standard. That's such bullshit that it costs $20 (with any company) to have unlimited text messaging. I mean god damn, how much of their resources does it actually take? I mean, I'm lying my credit on the line for the next two year, the least they could do is give you free god damn texting.

I think what he's saying is more along the lines that he wants it to be a real iPod replacement. I know that I have over 20gb of music on my iPod, and movies are going to take up a lot more room than the music. Also, I don't agree that the price will go up as memory increases. Flash memory is seeing improvements all the time, and as it becomes cheaper to produce higher capacity flash memory Apple will incorporate it into it's products for little to no price increase.

And remember, the OS takes up 700mb. And when 8GB is only around 7.5 in real space, that 700mb will bring the true capacity to less than 7GB. (those are estimates, but i don't see the real numbers being too far off).

AT&T and Cingular combined is been a pretty reliable phone company, in service and reception, although in its reliability it is restricted within city limits I believe. The reception is terrible anywhere else. Verizon has the best reception out of all of the phone companies in my opinion.

8 gigs of memory does not justify me spending however much the damn thing is... sure everything else about it is nice-ish... maybe when it gets cheaper *much much cheaper* and on verizon, with a good service plan... 99 dollars for a limited amount of minutes... fuck that my friend, i'll stick with my free phone with unlimited minutes for 65 a month. but i guess if you are rich and want it, and feel it is worth the money, i wont hold it against you.

I don't have much to say on this...I have an ipod. I've "had" my ipod for about two years now. I say "had" because for a 6 month period of that two year span, my ipod was being sent back and forth between here and California for Best Buy to be satisfied that my ipod was broken, after which they give me a "new" ipod. I say "new" because it was refurbished. Anyway, the most part of another year goes by, and, surprise surprise, my ipod starts messing up again. This time when I brought it into Best Buy, they informed me that I was actually so stupid as to not extend my warranty when I got it replaced (which voids the warranty). I bought a 3 year warranty when I got the damned thing, but that got voided or whatever and I guess I had no idea so I didn't purchase a new warranty...apparently. Anyway, the end of the story being that I've got a useless piece of shit ipod sitting on my table that I'm really not excited to spend 250 dollars sending to Apple because 'the man' fucked me over. Am I gonna buy a new ipod nano in the end? Yeah maybe. Am I gonna sink another shitload of money into Apple, equal to the amount that was sunk in on my original ipod? Not if I can avoid it. As far as I'm concerned, Apple is just as fake, gimicky, and fucked up as Microsoft at this point, so I could really give a shit less about their iphone. If you needed all this crazy functionality, you would've gotten a blackberry. The only reason anybody wants the iphone is cause it's fuckin' cool, and you can show it off to your friends.

Dan, you i understand that you may have had trouble with your iPod, and I've heard a TON of stories of people's Apple products breaking. I however, have had no such problems. Nor has anyone in my family. And the warranty problems...I just think that's what you get for buying something at Best Buy. *shrugs*

And i agree. Let's watch the video and chuckle.

And it's Apple's fault that you (very unwisely) got your iPod at Best Buy? Yeah, you're entitled to your opinion of Apple, of course, but it's not Apple's fault that Best Buy's services suck absolute ass. My battery went out on my iPod, which is quite common, but they replace it for free throughout two years. It took 3 days to send in, and get my brand new iPod back. Yes, brand new. So, it's really just your shitty luck. All companies have faulty products. But everyone's entitled to their opinions.
