My shred spot at home is a small corner in a large room. I can't afford to heat this room regularly, so I hadn't played at home yet this winter. This changed today, when DOLLARAMA sold me two pairs of shred gloves for slightly more than a dollar.
Remarks:
45 minutes
My toe kicks almost work again.
Serious exertion for the first time post op. Feel pretty good.
Actual freestyle - y'know, losing control and watching myself play. This lead to...
A whole bunch of fairly satisfying strings. Better than 10 tiltless contacts at least half a dozen times. And...
A couple of surprising links. p.mirage > legbeater > p.mirage is pretty rad by my standards. inf > flapper tap > swirl. First time.
My strong osis is starting to behave like a bail again. This is good news.
I'm embiggened and hopeful to play both days this weekend.
According to Dave, I can make one and a quarter more posts tonight. Maybe I'll save em. Shred-bank edited into first post.

tap > swirl. Real downtimey. On the one hand it's great to have a breakthrough moment with a component, but at the same time it makes my totally non-existent flip swirl all the more bothersome.
Side note, I played the bag I bought from you in Chicago for the first time in that session. It's good.
I've decided to credit myself with two posts each time I lift. It's cross training, after all.

Mini session this afternoon after having played basketball for the first time in about 10 years. I'm terrible at it but it was great fun. We won 52 - 50. Intense. No subs
.
These are the first entries into my personal bests log (first page).
11 legovers
12 alt clippers
I'm a stud. I'll double those tomorrow and make some new ones besides.

Woke up today feeling the same muscle that I pulled in Chicago. Odd since I didn't feel it at any point yesterday. Left hip adductor group. Consecutive legovers? Good on me, whatever. Put in a real short one anyway. Clipper stuff doesn't bother this and I want to keep up the 'play often'. I can feel the bag again sometimes.
16 alt clippers
17 right clippers
26 left clippers
Only a few attempts at each one. I had a string of I think 21 alt clippers, but one of them, around 12, was an infinity, so it doesn't count. Didn't double yesterday's numbers, but bettered the one I retried in any case, and set numbers on consecutive clippers that are worth my while to try and beat.
20 minutes tops I think. I think I'll play again tomorrow night, and test my numbers on consecutive mirages and pickups, along with beating the legover one. Maybe set a number in a drill too.
No freestyle at all this session. Really just 15 or 20 minutes. Enough to stay sharp.
I wish one of those twelve year old girls were around yesterday. My team won 52-50, but had actually lost by default by being short a female

By my estimation you've got about two hours. Playing when I get home tonight.
Good luck!

Boy is my face red. Equaled my 16, hit 14 and 13 as well, but didn't move up! I blame Nathan, and humbly accept his challenge.Luke Skywalker wrote:Your overconfidence will be your downfall.
GOOD session which is somehow devoid of particular highlights. I worked osii for the first time in a while and had some mini-breakthroughs. Played a solid hour, easily my longest since surgery. Footbag three days in a row now, and I'll almost certainly play again tomorrow, the dreaded Tuesday night public shred. I'm in better game shape now though and hope to make it an entirely freestyling affair. No drilling, no dropping. Well, you know.

Ended up taking yesterday off. Something came up to prevent me from getting to my usual time and place, and by the time all that cleared up, the hockey game was on. Go Habs. For the best anyways - I felt fantastic this morning for the day's rest and had good sessions at the gym in the morning and in footbag this afternoon.
Cursing Nathan Anderson all the while:
mirage>legover - 18 contacts
left clipper - 25
right clipper - 15
alt clippers - like... 6?
lots more osis work. Another minor breakthrough. There is lateral movement involved in Osii.
a few flip swirls! My whack flip clipper form was keeping this back. Nice to have something new and low impact to spend significant time drilling, although I didn't today.
My Rippin' Run is competition ready now. Smear > butterfly > p.mirage > osis. I figure four contacts done slowly enough give me coin flip odds.

I agree, but it turns out that this was a fluke. Haven't hit it since
. I plan to put a good deal of my next session into my flip swirl and both flappers. Hopefully I can start to dial it in.
I'm pretty sure that I've played more footbag so far in 2008 than I did in 2006 and 2007 combined. If it weren't for that surgery, 2005 would be included in there as well. I'm really happy to be playing again. I'm compelled to say again that NYJ and the people I met there have profoundly affected my life for the better.

Midnight session.
Decided to work some toe stuff instead, since I thought about it and realized I basically haven't done any since my surgery. I've just been plain carried away with clippers, and I don't want to get imbalanced.
I did:
10 contacts of atw > other atw on each foot (w/ drops)
~60 contacts of mirage>legover (w/ drops)
Doing many tiltless contacts really drains me, which is a problem in its own. I need to make a conscious effort to really push my endurance at least a couple of sessions each week, or else it won't improve.
I can't do ATWs. I either completely the them with an early high dex, or pause-pickup/legover them. I can't make a smooth and deep dex. I think my biggest string of ATWs was three. This gets top billing now - first thing I do every session until I no longer hate my ATWs.
Mirage>legover... I suck at it and it hurts my feet and it hurts my hips. 18 is my posted record, but I'm sure I hit at least 40 contacts of it years ago. Didn't break ten tonight. Gonna give it a few days before my next go.
After my toe stuff, I did a couple of clipper things. One attempt at consec clippers on each side. 31 strong, roll-off on 27 weak. 27 was to break my current best. Didn't bother me at all.
My alt clipper numbers attempts all still use the shuffly footwork, with some infinity sometimes too. Tonight I focussed on doing individual op clippers with the drifting footwork. When they came back and were working well, I decided to try some drifters...
I hit drifter on both sides tonight. First time for each. This is a big deal.
Now I sleep, satisfied.
