I have a request for someone from the States attending.

I want to buy a longboard deck online, but shipping to Canada is insane, plus I have to pay taxes...and I'm broke...so blah!

I was thinking that if anyone from the States is attending 100% then they could order it for me. I can give ya the money over pay pal, or in person if your aching for some Canuck coinage. Either way, just bring it across the border and I'll pick it up on Friday.

If anyone doesn't mind doing this super awesome favor for me, then please PM and we can work something out. It would be such a help and I would be willing to give that lucky person a cookie

I'm the flakiest bagger out there for tourney attendance. I missed GRASS due to some paperwork issues, but going to Toronto doesn't require said paperwork (which is currently being processed).
There's a good chance I'll make it down for this (I won't say 100% cuz no one would believe me anyway).

I checked the bus prices for a round trip and it seems steeper than I remember/heard it being...it was 200 for 2 people. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place?

That does seem expensive, James. You could rent a car and drive it down for that price. Might be the way to go if there are more than two of you.

Also, just a reminder that crash space is limited. I am basically the only FAT member that lives relatively close to the event site so you should all be kissing my ass. Penske has first dibbs on my couch, but I have plenty of floorspace if you want to rough it. (I have cats and pet rats incase you're allergic). (My place can't be used as a party house

). I'd like to offer my floor first to people traveling the farthest and those most in need.

James I hope the paperwork you were waiting for wasn't a passport. I got over the border no problem with my drivers license and birth cert.

How do the hostels work? Are they the same as hotel rooms? Should I book one and share the room with a group of people? ..or is that not how it works in a hostel like this

The way hostels work is you rent a bed in a room. That's it. You don't rent the entire room, and chances are you won't know who else is in the room. You should probably bring a lock, they usually have lockers.

I suggest you check their sites and call them if you have questions, and also, talk to other people who will also stay in the hostel. You can probably work it out so that it's just people you know in your room. Just make sure you have all the names of the people you plan to stay with. Tell the hostel that you all want to stay together when you call to book.

I have stayed in a bunch of hostels and I have always managed to arrange it so that I stay with people I know.

I think it would be cheaper if, say 6-10 people rented a low-end hotel room nearby. That way, the cost is split amoungst them and nobody's paying much over 20-40 bucks for the whole weekend (2 nights). Plus you have the security/comfort of a full out, private hotel room. I looked briefly for a nearby hotel, but then I figured I'd ask about the hostels. I'll keep looking... unless you know the closest/most affordable hotel off the top of your head.
