It was great chatting with you Aaron
I think one thing that could help a lot is to try livestreaming or make some videos of concepts you're having trouble with and get people to give you feedback on them. If you're not around other players to get advice in person, this is probably the best thing to not only stay in contact with awesome people, but to maintain motivation and improve! I'd love to help you out with anything I can too. Good luck, and send me a message any time
Looking forward to hearing about your progress

Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clipper will be my Bitch!
thx eric! i agree about posting videos and having people help me with it. that's the only way i'm going to get better, especially not having anyone to kick with around here. my schedule is so crazy with a one year old that it's prob easier for me to record some shit i'm working on rather than stream. a lot of the time, i don't know when i'll be able to kick. usually last minute thang. thx for the encouragement!!

Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clipper will be my Bitch!
I have to agree with Cassie's picture.
Interestingly, you are actually pretty much at the same level I was at my first competition. I definitely remember seeing how freakishly good everybody was (or so it seemed at the time) and, kind of like you said, it was more intimidating than inspiring. It's been two years since then, and I can say with confidence that footbag is worth keeping up with. Progress tends to happen slowly but, in a way, that makes it all the more rewarding when you get sort of good at it. So my advice is to just keep doing as you've been doing because your form on toe stalls and clipper looks good. Start trying more legovers, pickups, and mirages. Always push for more and more repetitions. Don't get discouraged if you only make a little progress each session. Don't worry even if it feels like you've gotten worse despite the practice. The key to this game is patience. Even your worst sessions are never wasted time because every minute you play makes you a better footbagger in the long run.
Best of luck and shred hard.

Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clipper will be my Bitch!
Agreed!
The learning curve is very steep at the beginning, but once you hit a certain level it's a lot easier and faster to improve. I think I mentioned this at the jam. That's how I've structured that site I told you about to help new players with the fundamentals up until the point where it becomes a lot easier to move forward on you own. Perseverance will get you far in this sport!

Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clipper will be my Bitch!
thx for the encouragement guys! just need to keep practicing.
ryan - yea the slowness of the learning curve is tough for me. i am an extremely impatient person. i am ocd as well though, so that helps me with drilling. i also very competitive as well which helps. i don't give up very easily and will continue to hammer shit until i get it. i just need to be patient and keep drilling and like you said, i will get better.
erik - i think i told you at the party that your vids were one of the first ones i stumbled on. i go to your site constantly watching and learning from them. i also agree that one day i think shit is just gonna click. the bag will get slower and it will just start happening. just can't wait for that day.
soooooo....had an amazing session saturday! i really needed a decent session, especially since i've been so down on my game since jamps. strongside clipper is getting much better. can start feeling the rhythm of it. still not setting completely straight most of the time but i am at least able to track down the bag and set into another clip. also hit some flip clip as well. here's what i worked on...
28 consecutive inside kicks (new personal record - hadn't even broken 20 before)
strongside clipper - 5x
legover - 4x bsos
mirage - 3x strong
osis - tried a couple out of clipper...HA, no way.
legovers are getting easier and also trying to hit mirage out of clipper but just not getting it yet. gotta look at some vids. need to work on atw some more. kinda got a way from them for a while and now i'm sucking at it. maybe i'll dedicate this week to drilling some of those on my breaks at work.
the other reason i think i had such a great session is that i am now on day 6 of quitting smoking!!! i bought the patch but ended up not using it. quit cold turkey. told myself if i could just make it 3 days, the nicotine would be out of my system. i can't tell you how great my body feels. i didn't get as winded while drilling and this is weird...i've lost like 10 pounds since bagging. funny, i quit smoking and end up losing weight. haha!
this is funny as well... my wife told me last night that she tries to do toe stalls after i go to bed. might have to get her to start kicking. we tried some barefoot toe stalls last night. she was starting to get the hang of it. pretty cool...closet bagger!
maybe next weekend i will at least record some of the tricks and see if any of you have some advice or how it looks. i'm hoping to also drill some during the week. i'm very busy with taylor but if i could just drill for 45 minutes a couple times during the week it would help. just need to make time.

So, if I understand correctly, you DID that stuff? HO, LEE COW! I can't wait to see your next progress vid. Yeah dude, mega super duper alpha props in quitting smoking! So many benefits as you stated.28 consecutive inside kicks (new personal record - hadn't even broken 20 before)
strongside clipper - 5x
legover - 4x bsos
mirage - 3x strong
osis - tried a couple out of clipper...HA, no
Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clipper will be my Bitch!
so had a quick sesh last night after i put taylor down. mirage and legover are getting better but clippers sucked. i recorded a portion of it so i could see what i was doing wrong. legovers and mirage looked ok. still seem very rushed and i think my dexes are still too big. i'll just have to keep working on them. clipper was another story. i wasn't bending my support leg enough and was also not delaying the bag with my clipper foot either. it was like i was just sticking it out there hoping the bag would land on it. i was so disappointed! i also was having serious issues with getting consecutives. i took a break and watched clavens clipper video again. i noticed that when i set the bag, i'm not jumping out of the set in one motion and that is probably why i feel like i don't have enough time to jump in and set another one. so i really drilled jumping into it, set (at the same time jumping out of it) and then trying to jump back in for another one. i've got to drill this form in cause i don't want to start any bad habits. so looks like the clipper game has taken a step back. mother fucker!!!

That's the ticket dude. It's the hop that is important. You'll get it, just keep trying. Persistence is key
Re: Double AA's Footblog - Clipper is winning...
bored at work and watching footbag videos (shocker). decided to go out on my break and try a couple and actually hit them.
toe>osis
toe>ducking>clipper
gonna def work on these some more. have tried osis from clipper but just can't get it. maybe toe>osis will help.
update: clipper is coming along slowly. still having probs with consecutives and setting straight up. also still trying to get the hang of clipper>mirage. need some moves in my arsenal so i can start getting some strings together.

At the grand rapids sesh on Saturday, I asked Vince about how you were doing in your game and we talked about you for a little bit. We are excited to see your progress. Osis? Ducking and Osis? Dude.

Re: Double AA's Footblog - osis & ducking???
Damn, ducking and osis, eh? Improvements! if you try them Flipside a few times each session, you will hit them both on flip before you know it.
