Locking Threads
I think simply deleting stupid or offensive posts is the way to go. Locking a thread just leaves the flames and/or BS out in the open. Perhaps that's okay, but I think for a forum to be a healthy one for an extended period of time, less BS is better.
Moderating isn't easy. To be consistant is the hardest part and knowing the right course of action to take for a particular situation can be a daunting task. It makes it even harder when people second guess you and want to argue about it.
We all make bad decisions sometimes, but in the end, the scales balance.
Jeremy, does this mean you want to help moderate?

See, I think the deleting posts is a great idea too. So many just piss me off sometimes on a really good topic with a bunch of bs written. I was actually going to ask for a mod position myself, I mean, I use this thing more than anyone AND know shitloads about footbag. But now I don't have time with school so nm, but anyway, yeah, lock ones with big long posts of hateful spew and delete short meaningless shit that get mucked up in good topics.
EDIT: And ya know, he prolly knows who all the people who voted know are....lol, list already made.

Re: Locking Threads
I personally like ripping on people when they're stupid, and I'm sure I'm made fun of a ton as well. I mean c'mon if you don't think so, just look at my name. It's like I'm begging to be made fun of. Besides, it's all in good fun making fun of people in their uhhhh....less intelligent moments.Jeremy wrote:Look, something that really pisses me off on this forum is Rob locking threads for what seems like very petty reasons, or beacuse of one or two stupid posts.

HAHA thats funny beacuse there is a thread somewhere that slams on rob but does not say that is him, but the topic has links to every useless thread that he has started which is ALOT.Fu Xi wrote:i've noticed that the mods get mad at people for posting useless posts BUT they are the ones that do it the most. i've noticed the past couple days there has been some posts not even relating to the topic
But whocares if someone starts a useless thread if it is useless then no one will go to it and it will just slowly drop off. i mean there are alot of useless thread out there right now, but if someone like rob didnt post them then this forum would be kinda pointless right. so i say keep on posting those pointless threads.
but as for the other stuff that rob locks. YES i do believe that he does make a good judgement u may not think so but he does. unless u can prove me wrong which i dont think u can.

I gotta admit.
Sometimes I wish I was close to people on the inside, so I could get the skinny on what is up.
That isn't a request, so don't interpret it as one. Actually, I myself am one who prides himself on being trustworthy of keeping my mouth shut. I can't stand it when people brag about "Knowing something I don't." or "I have to tell you something but I can't!" or someshit like that. I mean, seriously, go back to grade five.
...and I'm officially rambling.
Anyway...
The people involved have put it pretty clear that it's for them to deal with, and not the community in general. Leave it be, and just hope this whole mess gets sorted out.

Well said... I suppose that is pretty good grounds for it to be locked... that and we could have turned into the jerkoffs we hate...qphox wrote: The people involved have put it pretty clear that it's for them to deal with, and not the community in general.
