So tonight I had my first BIG gig of the term. And our piano player decided not to show!! It was crazy.. I had to sight comp for all the tunes and we were re-arranging the tunes 5 min before we hit the stage. It was very intense, but we pulled it off, I geuss thats what jazz is about, or atleast what being a musician is about.
I was a bit nervouse because this bad ass gtar player went before us and he was ripping it up with Scofield and Metheny licks and the audiences (or at least my) jaw was on the floor. Then we went up and we opened with a George Benson tune that featured me. It was fun. After words the director of the jazz studies program said I had great tone!!!I was so stoked. Compliments are so nice, especialy in a room with so many awe inspiring musicians.
So yesterday was an epic session. James is such an awsome guy. He is so much fun to kick with and so positive. I couldn't ask for a better friend...anyway anough with the bullshit heres what I hit.
BSOS:rip>rip> bluriest, PS whirl, pdx blender, tomahawk, spinning p whirl, ss butterfly swirl, pixie paradon, pdrifter>torque, inspinging mirage>dimwalk.(different runs)

didn't work any strings, just the fatty downtime moves. I realy like kicking away from public and just working shit into the ground. I've done sooooo many strings I am definatly ready to move on. We'll see if when I hit up my next tourney I can actualy throw some hard moves or If I'll do the same old 30 contact strings all the time

. I know I'm a deuch, but confidence is everything. I am a shredding-jazz hero.
OHHHH and I saw herbie hancock on thursday, It was life changing. That dude is like 70 and still tearing it up. Thats the one thing music has over shred. You don't stop music until you're heart stops. Even when I can't wipe my own ass anymore I'll still be arranging and scatting away all day long.
Passions are life, get some!
