I almost forgot about my FBlog! :P

Here's some new stuff I've hit since... OMG :? ! 5th of June...

Wed Jun 15:
Whirl > Barfly (rpt.)
Whirl > Pdx Whirl (rpt.)
?

Thu Jun 16:
Gyro Barrage (with 1st dex + 2 dex = clean 8) )
Mobius > Barfly BS
Venom again midstring
Surreal (Surging Pdx Whirl. I didn't catch the first try ever because I didn't believe I've hit it... my secound and third try went right to my hand 8) and it's on the camera*!)
Big Apple on the cam*
5x Drifter (few times)
Marius midrun BS
many cool runs with lots of Steppings, Janiwalker, Barflys, Scorpions etc.
* - not my camera so... dunno when it will be ready to watch...

Fri Jun 17:
Baroque, Pdx Barrage

Tue Jun 21:
PS Whirl (my first ever after a run...)

Wed Jun 22:
Torque > Drifter (rpt.)
Drifter > Spinning Clipper (rpt.) first try
Sidewalk > Ripwalk > Spinning Butter (rpt.)
Barfly BSOS + Scorpions Tail BSOS (one string)
Void into a run - BS
13x Spinning Clipper (flipside) first try
5x Spinning Osis (first try) or 6... don't remember exacly
don't remember anything else...

Thu Jun 23:
Best combo in my life :D - ... > Drifter > Drifter > Drifter > Torque > Barfly > Ripwalk > ..., ... > Ripwalk > Janiwalker > ..., Mobius > Barfly > ... (probably I dropped on some Osis or Butterfly...) + Scorpions Tail and some Steppings (Sidewalks, Ripwalks) - I was veeeery lucky...
Spinning Osis x6 > Handcatch 8)
Drifter x7
Drifter x5 > Osis > Drifter > Vortex > Handcatch
Barfly > Barfly - BS + Scorpions Tail in the same run

I don't remember anything from the next few days... only Mobius > Mobius again and PS Whirl > Scorpions Tail & Spinning Pdx Whirl > Mobius

Wed Jun 28:
Maelstrom
Dimwalk > Ripwalk > Sidewalk > Blur > Legbeater > Ripwalk > Sidewalk > Ripwalk > Sidewalk > Blurrier > ...
Scorpions Tail x3 (I've never tried this one consecutive! :o )
Barfly x3
Scorpions > DDD
Venom > DDD

Today... uhh - NOTHING! Two weeks ago I decided to play everyday about 3h or something like that. But my body wasn't ready for that. And it isn't ready even now. I feel very weak  but on the other side I wanna shred as much as it's only possible (before Euros!). My muscles ignore that whim but I wanna practice... and anything works the way it should :x ! Spinnings, Steppings, Torques... those were my best sides. Now? Uh... Can't link even 3 or 4 Spinning Clippers on strong (not even close to 10 - 15 flip Spin Clips that I was able to hit some time ago  ). Footbag isn't fun anymore... and only 2 weeks left to Euros  ! I have very pessimistic way of thinking about Footbag and some other things... That's bad I suppose... I'm going to have a break from Fbg untill Friday  ! That should be the best prescription for me at the moment and on Friday everything should be fine - Euros are sooo close. So... expect some huge stuff soon (for example I'm expecting my first 8 Add before Euros...) ! I'm going to bed now!

Peace!

Setman is going to compete with other intermediate players (Euros)... so - according to our arrangement - also with me  .

 Things, I forgot to write yesterday:
Mobius > Ripwalk - first try that (??) day on flip and then strong (BS :P )
Double Spinning Osis > Ripwalk
Tomahawk - BS (on strong side... of course my first try ever! )

 Today I was stretching (~10 - 15 minutes) and than I decided to put on my Rod Lavers on 5 min. (as I said yesterday, I'm resting from Fbg today!)...
Alpine Bigwalk
... > Osis > Diving Clipper > Spinning Osis > ... - nothing extraordinary but it felt great to link this one :o ! Maybe I'm not using Duckings/Divings and this is my mistake  ! I'll work on them - that's a promise :!:

That's all for today. My shin splits are coming back ( :? )... but nothing can stop me from playing! :D

Shin Splits came back!

...so currently I'm going to rid of them once and for all! After 4 days of this battle (but I have them for over week) I'm the winner. Stretching  helps me a loooot while playing - it's the key to play with them (at least for me).

Nothing new (expected some massive :?: In this case - don't waste your time! ). Only working on things that I want to be good at.

 Yesterday in the morning I had a solo session and another in the evening - didn't expected it'll give me so much. Because of Piechu (and his Whirls  ) I'm focused on Whirls and Duckings. I see a big difference between them today and even yesterday :o . I hope my Whirls will be some day at least as good as Piechu has them today  ! My biggest mistake is that I wasn't interested in those (Whirls, Blenders, Ducks) moves before. I'm going to change it.

 Today we had a nice shred in the Sawicka park. It was very hot and sunny but unfortunately my shins weren't in a good shape :? .

And don't expect that I'll write here anything about my new moves or... anything except for feelings after the shred. Untill Euros  .

OK, I can make an exception... so today I arrived too early (~30 minutes) and I saw Goku who was waiting for us. So I started warming up and after some Butterflys, Spinning Clippers and some others I tried...

Ducking Marius - on the 4th or 5th attempt  (to hand of course). I wanted to hit this trick for about 3 weeks but I decided that if I work on basics I'll hit it during Euros :P . However Piechu wrote yesterday that he has hit it so...

That's all. I won't write anything else... :P

See you at Euros. Intermediate* rules! :P

* - don't be scared - I haven't got routine prepared :) and probably won't have it. Besides I'm not so good as you may think

The greatest adventure of my life has started...

I had probably the best shred I've ever had. And not bacause of what I've hit but because of who I played with 8) ! Well, the day before yesterday Sébastien Duchesne arrived to Wrocław. He was very tired after a long trip so we played 4 square (shit! :x I need some kick drills immediately... ) but he said that he will play freestyle with us the next day (I mean yesterday).

So yesterday I was sooo excited and motivated like crazy... and I couldn't wait to meet Dylan Fry who is in fact my favourite player (beside Allan Haggett - and videos with both of them are my favourite too)! I like his style so much because of all those Spins, my favourite Torques (Mobius, Pdx Torque) and really controlled Whirls and Duckings everywhere 8O . And I want to play just like him in the future. I was searching for a long time to find somebody who plays like that. And I found him  ! Sébastien plays really good too :D !

I had for example a nice loong run with Blurriest, Mobius and Janiwalker in it.

Today I'm even more excited! I LOVE FOOTBAG! :D At about half past three pm we (Adam and I) came to the School Complex nr 14 - where the exchange program will be... Dylan taught me how Whirls and Spins should look like and now I know how to practice them :!: . They were impresed because of my Surging set - I can hit CLEAN Surging on Ducking so I'll practice them  ! Unfortunatelly my shins weren't in a good condition but I wanted to play all the time :? . Later I've meet all the Austian crew. They locked... and as I know now they ARE so friendly and cool! Oh, and I've meet also Ian Pritchard from Sydney!

Maybe Footbag is some weird invention witch get in only the coollest people from all over the world?

:D :D :D :D :D

Can't wait to tomorrow to meet new people and learn new things. And expect some BIG account after the Euros (with my new runs and big tricks too :P ). I'll probably have to live in the Student House of Polytechnic because my house is sooo far from the place where workshops will be. It could be fun there I suppose... :D

I am back in the game ! ! !

Post by Olav »

I promised myself to make an extensive report after Euros. Weeeeell, I failed! :(

Well... so many things has changed! It has been a lot of time since Euros  . Nevertheless I have to say a few words - it was surely the biggest adventure I took part in, I mean especially the Youth Exchange. I met so many cool people, gained in experience, and in general had fun :!:. But my form was horrible (even Toe seemed to be a hard trick) :x.

I was sooo pissed off after Euros that I even stopped playing :?, what was the worst thing I could do. Fortunately my whole philosophy of footbag has changed so I'm still playing. I think I was just ( ) too ambitious and I wanted too much from myself and definitely too quickly. Fortunalely everything is all right now :).

ZJ'05 in Wroclaw on 25-26th of November was superb :!:, but it's the only thing I remember from then :P! It was my first time I participated Open Freestyle and I placed 8th in routine (with Vortex > Mobius in it). And I won 2 beers  hitting Alpine Big Apple. What else? There's an error in my memory :x! ARRRGH!!! Oh never mind, it's not that important I guess.

And now something, that's really gonna be boooooring! :P And btw on this Todexon I'll be celebrating 1,5 year of my adventure with Footbag.

B i g g e s t t r i c k s :

 Gyro Gauntlet (clean!) - 8 Adds

 Clown Face (yeah! :D :D :D :D :D )

 Alpine Big Apple (ZJ'05)

 Nemesis - BS (yeeeep I'm from Poland )

 Diving Marius - BS (both in like 4 minutes)

 Scorpion's Tail Swirl

 Gyro Baroque

and a few easier 7 Adders...

S o m e o t h e r t h i n g s I l i k e d :
1st in Wro BEAST (Surreal > Venom > Maelstrom)

Mobius > Janiwalker (31 XII 05), Ripped Warrior (2nd try ever 8) - SZ; 9 IV 06), Ripstein (Nov 05?)

Ripwalk > Ripstein - BSOS

Janiwalker > Ripped Warrior (BS), Blurry Torque, Bedwetter; Double Spinning Osis > Janiwalker (Nov 05?)

Rubberman drill (Blur > Atomsmasher > Legbeater (rpt.)) - I hit it yesterday and was shocked how easily it came :?. A day ealier I started to practice Atomics and was sure I won't hit it till Tdx (I hadn't  hit Blur > Atomsmasher/Atomsmasher > Legbeater on any side before) - surprise 8O!

Gyrosino drill (Vortex > Mobius > Vortex > Mobius) - new too,
also Vortex > Mobius im my routine (ZJ; Nov 05), Vortex > Gyro DLO/Eggbeater

Plasticman drill (Barrage > Paradon > Barfly (rpt.))

8x Vortex, 3x Mobius  - but I can definitely more! :P

Mobius > Marius > Mobius > Zooming Handcatch  and Marius x3 :(

Void B2B (Oct 05?), Spinning Butterfly x 31
...

There was a small tournament named Swiat Zoski on 8-9th of April in Wroclaw. The whole event took place in the club "Alibi" on the 1st day. Many players from all over the country came to visit us and to compete in this weird :D, universal contest. It was all about participating in 2 minutes routine (no Intermediate this time...), shred30 and sick3. The best 10 players from those 3 competitions were selected after the 1st round and fought for "the most Universal Player" title in their routines and... sick3 :o (strange, isn't it? :?). Our Polish Champion (Kamil Wysocki) was there as well so it was kinda obvious who's gonna win . 2nd place for Michal; Ostrowski from Strzelin and Wiktor Debski representing Warsaw was 3rd. Ners (gooo Wroooooclaw! :D) and Michal's brother Tomek were ex aequo on the 4th place. What about me? :?:

 Well, I got sick 2 days ealier and was extremely furious on myself 'cause of it :x. Nevertheless I decided to play, and I have to confess it wasn't that bad :)! My semi-final routine was a little disaster - exactly 10 drops mainly on Toes  , Legovers or Juggling... more than I first tried it a few weeks ago. But it was ended by Marius 8). My final routine was way better - "only" 5 drops was a good result compared with those 10 . I really liked the audience reaction, it made me more concentrated and somehow relaxed :o too. Had a handcatched Marius at the end again :P. Unexpectedly I wasn't tired at all - I felt I could even play that again 8O! It felt great to show my routine on the stage, it was fun and I think it went very well to the music, but the others had less drops (Michal's routine was even dropless :?). Finally I was 5th in the routine (after Kierpca, Ostrowscy brothers and Ners). I liked my sick3 - Scorpion's Tail > Spin Pdx Whirl > Mobius - I hit it twice in my 1st tries (eliminations & finals). Yeees, it was V E R Y  secured, but unfortunatelly I spent all my chances doing nothing and trying things I wasn't able to do , but at the end it was enough for the 3rd place. In general I had no chance to win the whole contest without participating Shred30 . I dunno :? - I could try and get over 100 without any idea (pure Freestyle :D), but I prefered to try some other time with well prepared shred...

The 2nd day was destinated for Fbg Net, however there were also many Freestylers playing in the circles. As a conclusion, I can reliably say... it was awesome! :D

Most probably I will be on this Todexon. I can't wait!

There's a one little problem... I might not save enough money to go on Worlds (surely I'll do everything possible to go!). If I go to Frankfurt, it'd like to use the opportiunity to visit Berlin afterwards! I am desperated.

Cheers, Olav

PS. If you have any challenges for me just please write it HERE down, and I'll think about them. It's because I'm not gonna have my own thread in the Challenges section :? - what I really like about Footbag is that I AM my own teacher and I take full responsibility for my progression (and, what's the most importatnt - I play for fun; I do only things, I am able to do at the moment - no hunting anymore!). However, ideas/suggestions are always welcome :!:.

PS2. I found a piece (oh, well it's an entire coat :D) of quite good material and I've already done 16 of 32 panels in my 1st self-made Olavbag...

PS3. Remember to use a LOOOOT of emoticons in your posts - make them colorful!

Today I played alone in my room. I started with my Olavbag, but after a while I had to confess it's kinda shitty  . Floor was slippery as usual :x, so I decided to work on all the dexless stuff, witch seemed to be the only wise solution in this situation. That meant tons of loooong runs. I totally forgot about Inspinning set and today decided to try them. I came really close to Spinning Osis > Inspinning Osis (rpt.) drill, but eventually it will have to wait a bit more :?. My Pdx Torques were very bad lately  therefore I practiced them too. Here's what came out of it:

 run with Little Apple, Pdx Mirrage - BS, Blur - BS, Ducking Pdx Mirrage - BS, Gyro Mirrage - BS and Spinning Pdx Mirrage - BS. Everything in one row, of course between Butterflys, Osis, Ripwalks... it might be silly  for all of you, but my Clippers are still WAAAAAY better than Toes - even Barefoot! 8O However I'm not satisfied yet - it required much more exertion that it should... :?

 Mobius > Motion - BSOS. 2nd try today; I tried it once on Swiat Zoski contest but I droped at that last Motion. The same happened today in my first try. Btw Pdx Torque > Motion - BS, will try BSOS it next time.

 Pdx Torque > Janiwalker, flip footed a couple of times so I quit. I'll try next week maybe, I'd like to hit that with NO problems :P.

 flapper set Mobius (that's NEW) > Rev Walkover (old one). Just for fun. :D

 Alpine Legbeater - BS. Hard :!: .

 Matador > Ripwalk (rpt.) to a run. At the same time it was the first time I BSOSed a Matador :o. That made me very happy. If someone told me, I'd never believe that I can hit it these days. Nuke set - here I come!

Hahaha, I laughed out loud at this one :). While performing a Ripped Warrior I heard a strange loud noise - well, my shorts ripped in my backside. Props Olaf! But now I have to fix them up... :(

I just read your blog for the first time today and this stuff is all insane! How can you compete at the intermediate level when you can hit a beast?

This will sound really harsh, but I must say that somehow I have developed some stereotypes for polish players and their add hunting. So I must ask for video evidence.
I find it really hard to believe that you have hit all these tricks clean. I've never heard about you anywhere or seen you play, so videos would be nice.

And I really laughed out loud for that Nemesis - yeeeep I'm from Poland. I've never seen a polish player hit an indisputable clean Nemesis. Sorry guys.

I'm sure it will not be that hard to film those tricks, you're from Warsov - someone there has a camera.
