Hook-up when you first meet....then a next date is guarenteed....I hate the stupid phone games that people play and the silly fake number, planning never to call scene.
No spots.....only up-front! (sorry for the drug-world terminology)
I also HATE getting numbers....setting up a date over the phone....then showing up and the girl is...um...not quite as you remember her .

some advice: get yourself a phone that takes photos.
more advice and this is very important: get one that has a flash or it will be useless (I sadly found out)
I met this guy today who asked me if I was free later on tonight and I was, so we're going to hang out tonight. Since there was interest from both people, I think that it's okay to call/see each other sooner than later. I met someone a little bit ago who waited a few days before calling, which turned into almost a week, and by that point I wasn't really interested anymore. Don't drool over someone, but make them know that you want to be talking to them, you know? Those types of games are stupid to play.

It all greatly depends on the situation. Is this person a coworker a freind of a freind a chick at the bar/random girl you ran into.
in the case of a girl you ran into at the bar/random spontaneuous conversation. it would be wise to wait a few days. Desperation is the worst cologne. but there are those situations where if sparks fly on both ends im sure the sooner the better we should all be smart enough to judge every situation differently. I think the 3 days rule is great for this average situation.
a coworker or the freind of a freind can be played from a different angle. in that position you can be aggresive and upfront about wanting to be with her/him without it feeling desperate and awkward. that is the ideal situation since there can be some comfort time with freinds and coworkers around before you take that plunge into a first date.
to really understand how to handle any situation you have to understand the ohter party. always look at things at different angles before you jump to a rash dicision.
Actually, I don't really think this "time limit" thing is really all that true. Personally, if I get a girls phone number that I'm really into, do you honestly think I'm going to torture myself by not calling? Of course I'd want to call her as soon as I could. Its happened before, and I haven't felt any repercussions from it.
I don't agree with less than 3 days is desparate. More than 3 is definatly cruel. If its more than 3, I'd just as quickly assume you didn't care at all. I figure, if I get a number, and she tells me to call her later, I will, later, meaning, that night.

Its just about that confusing...
i guess it also depends on your age. i work full time and live on my own so my weekdays consist of 9 hours of work an hour of footbag an hour of cleaning and then i usually relax before its bed time.
if i got a girls number i would be in no way in a hurry to call her until it was getting closer to the weekend.
but you younger lads who still live with parentals and everyday is the equivelant of my friday and saturday night i guess it doesnt matter for you.
