I don't know about "unfair" - maybe inaccurate. I think it's pretty pointless discussion really but it's fun. I think that discription sums up about 95% of topics at modified and very few people comment on the remaining 5%. Pointless is perhaps the wrong word. Insignificant would be better.

Re: Jorden. I guess we'll have to see. He's obviously fairly untested as far as routines go so it's hard to judge where he'll finish. There will be a lot of really good players competing whose names hardly ever get mentioned on this topic but have proven that they're more than capable of awesome routines.

i figure that everyone is gonna lose to someone some day. vasek might not be your fav but last i heard he won first at worlds which makes him the best ni the world. personally i think lon is the man but vasek hits different stuff. and ive never seen vasek bust 50 spinning contacts in a row but ive never seen lon hit genisis. ya pick whatcha like right?

From what I've heard and read,
THERE ARE ABOUT 20 PEOPLE IN THE TOP 5 IN THE WORLD.

But I don't think anyone understands how Vasek's legs feel when he is shredding. He is by far the best. No one is even close. I wish my legs had the energy Vaska's do. I only wish.

Lon, you are so humble.

Lon has busted for FOUR minutes (+/- no one was counting) guiltless and dropless.

Lon also hit spinning ducking pickup, and gyro ducking pickup BSOS on his first frigging try, on request

. And one more combo: Pdx Torque, Pdx Torque, Mobius, Pdx Torque, Pdx Torque, Mobius, Pdx Torque, Pdx Torque, Marius, Pdx Torque, Pdx Torque, Marius and then went on to seal it with a 15-20 contact run.

I haven't kicked with Vasek lately, but I'm sure he can match or exceed these combos.

that was some of the best shred i have ever seen, but as far as routines, i think it's beatable this year. there was little choreography, and the music kept the same basic rythms. vasek is the king of footbag, but i think ryan m. was the king of excellent routines. i think with the amount of skill vasek has, he can afford to tone down the moves, and make a routine that is non-stop choreography. wouldn't that be interesting to watch?

my favorite routines ever are vaseks 2002 semifinal, and mulroney's 2003 semifinal and final.

Totally agree with Chris. However I liked the 2002 Finals, and a run from Peter from a few years back with a didgeridoo. Ryan's routines will always be better in my mind than Vasek's routines.

Totally! If you watch him shred, he almost looks as if he's just grabbing the bag with his foot and setting it wherever he wants. It's like he has as much control with his legs as most people do with their arms.

He never seems to tire or get sore or anything like that. I've been wondering how in the world he used to play for so long and not be so sore the next day. To this day I still don't know. Maybe someone should ask him next week.

It's like his legs are invinsible.

how does jorden shred so hard for so long? what is it about Jorden and Vasek that allow them to play so hard?

I would love to see Vasek play as much as Jorden does at tourneys. Last year at worlds I was kinda disappointed at the amount of time Vasek spent in circle, and awed by the amount of time Jorden did.

Yea Jon, Jorden shreds for sooo long. Every tourny that i've been to with him there, he played non-stop. Even when we were all sitting down and partying, he was up and busting huuuuge

Lon is awesome hands down, I can't evaluate any of the others because I have never shredded with them in person. Thus I can honestly say Lon is the best shredder I have ever witnessed in real life, followed by Penske and Crook. If video tells all though, Vaska is still unreachable. Hopefully, I can add Jorden to that list by the end of this summer.

Bah, I don't care much for "who's the best in the world" because I started kicking due to the fact everyone loves to kick. Some can do better tricks or have a unique style that others don't that everyone learns off of. Sure, Vasek might (actually probably is) the Micheal Jordan of footbag, but that still doesn't make him the best in my book. I'm probably being blasphemous, so don't mind me. I'd just as soon kick with a newbie as much as I would with a BAP because I love to shred. The competitions (in my opinion) are kinda lame, but the shredding from it rules, so I guess I can't complain too much.

well said...I'd love to shred with Vasek, Honza etc. etc. in a circle...well I'm not half as good as they are but it would be worth it only just to play...

In the end it's all about having fun and I don't want footbag to end up like soccer where you barely look at other players (different teams) and where the fun has (in my opinion) been lost very long ago...

What makes footbag so attractive (next to the fact that it is a hell lot of fun busting crazy moves and shredding until you can barely stand upright anymore

) that all players around the world are just like buddies of many years and if you need it you get help from anyone from the footbag community...The whole atmosphere is just so cooperative and helpful...

i totally agree with you, julian, footbag has always been about having fun and should always be that way, but not everyone has the same mind set, other people are more competitive than others, i think that good BAP players loves footbag and think it is so cool and fun but i think they are also serious and competitive than others, this does not mean that they compete in competitions and stuff, just means that they have the drive and focus to want to get better and they do!, to be on topic i have seen alot vasek and lon footage, vasek hits lots of blurrywhirls, ps whirls and after a while i feel like im waching a replay. No doubt vasek has been number 1 at worlds for the last 4 worlds competitions he has broken barriers that no one 10 years ago would have thought possible. when lon is playing i see him hitting blurry reverse whirl combos, stuff i have never seen vasek hit (actually i saw 1 reverse whirl in his worlds routines if i remeber right), i mean when it comes to trick selection i would think lon has way more tricks to choose from than vasek. vasek has hit so many different add variations i mean it nuts, vasek is a beast and so is lon, i just dont know whos the best till i see them compete against one another

What I'm surprised at is that Vasek can hit so many different tricks, which are very very difficult, but barely ever uses them in his routines ?

I love his style and he shreds like crazy with all those complicated strings but still I've seen him hit a lot of cool tricks (p.e. check the massive trick section at flipsider.com) but I've seldom seen him do some of those tricks he seems to hit without big effort in his routines ?
I mean why doesn't he vary more ? He sure varies a lot already but he could vary much more if you ask me and I think he has never really shown all his skills in his routines...

Of course that would make his routines a lot harder for him and dropless would be much more impressive then but I think he could do it and when I watch his routines he sometimes looks almost bored whilst shredding...

Just what I think maybe I'm completly wrong
