Anyway, in reference to small conversation I had earlier with Kevin. I many of you know me pretty well. I'm at a party and there's a girl there with bunny ears and fake blood around her eyes... and she starts hitting on me. What the fuck is wrong with me. I mean lets face it, if I ever met a girl who said to me "I haven't been fucked like that since grade school" I would be so into that. This girl was like that. Argh! I said no drugs and I folded and was too stoned. Well, if I see her again (and I Hobart's pretty small so I might) then I will definitly make a move. hmm... why the fuck am I writing this. People will judge my ability to organise tournaments on this post. What a bad reflection on Australian footbag I am. I should say I am unique amongst Aussie footbaggers - every other male at least would recognise that this girl was so right for me and go for it. bah.

hmm. Posts like my last one are funny, because now I can only vagually remember the night at all. :/

Another thing that happened last night was I had a chat with a girl I went to school with - who was in the same year as I was and who is now a single mum. I find that a bit freaky. I can't imagine myself being at all ready to be a parent for a long time.

I seem a bit self destructive at the moment, which is probably not a good thing. Not just getting too intoxicated but like the other night when I didn't sleep at all - but then got up and drank lots of redbull and then had a long shred. I don't seem to have a very high regard for my body. I can think of lots of reasons why this might be but I don't really want to write them here.

In other news I'm haveing a kick today - which should be fun. The seen in Hobart is definitly getting pretty strong - I think all it needs is somebody to connect it all up and make it organised - so I'm trying to take that roll!

So today's kick was pretty average. I just drilled my whirls. Tried a few different techniques but I don't know if it made much difference. I had a lot of fun juggling though - and learnt some new stuff - or at least hit some new stuff - I've got a long way to go before I can say that I've got any of it down.

Tried 3 new beers too - well I've tried two but I've got one to go. They are all very rare beers so that's cool. The beers are:

Hazzards Dark: This is a disgusting beer and I don't think I can finish it. Has like a chocolate after taste but not sweet. Hard to explain but basically don't drink this!

Hazzards Ale: Awesome - the difference between the two Hazzards beers is incredible! I love this beer - Hazzards is a micro brewary in Tasmania and it's very hard to find their beer. I'm not much of a fan of Ales these days - although I used to be - and beers like this one make me want to drink more ale. It's so crisp and tasty.

The other beer I haven't tried yet so I'll comment later. I think it's called Cascade First Harvest - basically it's a beer made out of the first harvest of hops for the year - so it's a very limited release. I've heard it's good but I'll wait and see.

It wasn't so much a wow that's sexy kind of thing. If she just wore bunny ears or just had the blood I wouldn't have thought anything of it. It was just such a good combination - maybe it was this girl too. I've been calling her roadkill girl - although if I do hook up with her and I do convince her to play footbag (and I will do both) - I might censor this post...

Jeremy, your blog rocks, and man, I didn't know you were so good til that Dylan and Jeremy vid. And I knew we were similar, but damn! No wonder you can hit my drill, it must be cake for you. We shuffle like brothers. But you maximized it while I've tried to go in other directions. You have some good shuffle shit I couldn't hit. I have crazy shit you couldn't do yet to though, so its nice and balanced. I really think you should try to work at least one osis on each side in of evey run while you're drilling though. At least before you get tripless all the time. You'll need torques and blenders and spinning to be easy options when you're doing long huge runs, the stamina and uniqueness of shuffling long and unique is so difficult, and osis helps everything so much. Like, try doing 10 reps of rubberman for 5 minutes and tell me that shuffling for 40 contacts of triple dexxes looks fun when you could so easily learn and bust a mobius (which you may be able to hit already) and relax your quads and calves for a sec. And like you saw dylan, he could shuffle bad ass but had spinning tripless too, great variety, even though he's not as fast as us. Anyway, peace mate. hope you keep everything up and get us some footage again soon.

You're right about my osis and spinning - both suck so much. I've been working to get them better but it's been taking a long time. It's silly too, because I can hit a lot of fairly hard spinning moves - mobius, double spinning osis, whirlwind etc. Single tricks have never been that hard for me, it's just about consistancy I guess. It's funny - the only real spinning move I hit in the vid is neutron smasher - which most people probably find pretty damn hard (because it is - but you'd think I'd do the odd easier spinning move - not counting osis). I'll follow you up on that challenge and try to hit osis as much as I can.

Some other news:

Today I headed down to learn some poy and fire staff on the parliament lawns after dark. It was heaps of fun. I schooled the poy really hard and although I hit myself in the testicals 3 times - which really, really fucking hurt - I managed to learn a 3 beat weave (I'm sure some of you know what that means). I went down with Kester's girlfriend - whome I seem to be spending more time with then Kester does recently - a little strange... - I also met Brian and James there - two guys who play a bit of footbag. James is really keen and showing some talent. Brian is more interested in juggling and fire staff - both of which he kicks butt at but I'm trying to turn him away away from evil.

Some of the people there were really cool, others were a bit scary. Like this guy who was wearing like a big trench coat and had two knives with him that were longer than my arms. They were also painted black so as not to reflect light. People like that have always scared me - I have no idea why - I guess it was something about the way he talked - as if he hated everything. Oh yeah and his big fucking knives.

But yeah I had a great time and I'm definitly going back next time. I'm going to make or buy a poy in the mean time and get super good (I'll keep playing footbag too of course )

I managed to learn a 3 beat weave (I'm sure some of you know what that means).

Yeah, poi is fun. I'm sure you know about homeofpoi.com. They have some nice video clips which are easy to learn from. Back in the day I did the three beat weave, butterfly (regular, alternate, overhead, and one hand), "thread the needle" (we never called it that, but whatever), low wave, tuck turn, corkscrew, windmill, "horizontal Mexican weave" which we called a figure eight, and a few other things. I can still do all of them, but I wish that I had learned the five beat weave when I was more into it. It's cool that you're getting into it. And the poi people in my town tend to be either really great or extremely off. I think it just goes with the activity.

Edit: I'm sure that could have been a PM instead of clogging your blog. Oh well.

Hey that's cool Emily - I love it when people post in my blog - it means people are reading it

Anyway I have some bad news. Although I guess it depends on your perspective. I've decided not to go to Europe this year. Which means I don't get to meet all the cool people I've really wanted to meet for a long time. It also means I've pulled out of going to the last two worlds - which definitely sucks. But really for me this was a very easy decision - right now my life is all over the place and really it's been like that since I finished school in 2002. I've decided it's time I grew up and got things sorted out. I'm going to go to Uni next year - I still don't know what I'm going to do - and I'm going to start thinking about at least setting some ground work for the future. That's not to say I won't one day go on a crazy trip around the world - I still have every intention of doing that one day, but I really think I need to be a little more intelligent about my life. I guess I've been fairly self destructive - regarding my constant substance abuse and my relationships with a lot of close people.

As I said at the start - it's only bad news depending on your perspective - personally I feel really good that I've finally started addressing the problems in my life and growing up - I feel like this decision is without doubt the best one. I'm disappointed that I don't get to meet all the people I wanted to meet. To be honest I was looking forward to meeting people a lot more than I was looking forward to the footbag - although that would have been cool too.

You can always come to Australia to visit me and I'm sure we'll get to shred together one day.

I guess I've realised that there really is more to life than footbag and even though I'm going to still drill really hard every day and visit the forums whenever I have time, I'm also going to do my best to have a full life outside of footbag.

I'm sorry to anybody I've disappointed anybody - I hope you can understand why I've made this decision. I still love footbag.

Jeremy, if I might just give you some advice (but be warned, you get what you paied for, so take my advice or not )... Don't go to uni unless you know exactely what you want to do. I thought I wanted to do science, but couldn't dedicate myself to it. So then I thought I'd like to do film and TV, but there was too much theory, when I'm learn best by doing. In the end, I've wasted 2 years of my life at Uni, having not bothering to go back this year because... I can't be fucked. I'm 28 this year and still have no direction in life.

Be sure you know what you want to do before going into uni, otherwise it's just a fucken big waste of money and your time.

hmm, that would definitly be cool - however what holds me back is a. the fact that I don't speak any languages apart from English and I have no desire to go to England for Uni and b. I'm pretty sure it's very expensive for international students to go to uni anywhere. Here I can basically get a loan which I won't have to pay off until I'm earning lots of money - if I never earn lots of money I never have to pay it off: beautiful . I imagine most countries aren't to keen on giving loans to students who are going to be forced to leave the country once they finish their degree. A much better plan is to get a degree and then move to Europe/Japan/Central America/some cool tropical island and get citizenship and work there - thus not having to pay off my loan and getting to experience more of the world.

Thanks Zach for the kind words. Look - you made me blush I don't think of myself as wise at all but I guess that's another thing that's all about perspective.

Well I don't know about the situation in other countries, and it's been a couple of years since I finished uni, but all universities in France are free. You do have annual administrative costs (roughly 150 USD if I recall correctly) and most universities have programs in English for foreign students.

These days it is getting so bloody hard to even get into the US that a lot of top international students are turning to Europe to further their studies instead of the usual top US universities.

Anyway you should look into it. Every big euro university is keen on attracting foreign students.

Kicked yesterday - played with Brian and some guy whose name I forget - but he looks like Nick Riewoldt. Brian hit atw for the first time as well as flying clipper>spinning inside stall and some other cool stuff. I just drilled stuff and mucked around. Oh two other guys came and kicked with us for a while and I tried to convert them but we'll see what happens.

Went out last night to a house party - met up with the bunny ear girl - I think I'm in love I talked to her for a while but got way too drunk, passed out, woke up at about 6:30 am and walked home. Have spent all day in bed with the worst hang over of my life. Well considering it's now 7:30 pm and I still feel like shit. I don't think I even drunk that much - like maybe 12 beers and a couple of shots? I can't remember the end of the night. I guess speed was a factor since I would have drunk that much beer in two or three hours probably. I don't know - I guess I was probably uber dehydrated from footbag and hardly ate anything. Considering one of my goals was to drink no more than 10 beers a week - I definitly need to get some better will power.

Oh my football team lost last night too They started so well but then died in the second half.

Oh well. Tomorrow I'm going to have a big footbag session I think.

I'm doing first year uni, behavioural science, and i'm completely unmotivated because i have no direction. I think i'm going to fail my 2 elective subjects... bleh, i wish i'd just worked or something

I don't have much direction either but that never stopped me from getting good results at school before so I don't think it'll stop me now. Of course maybe it's a bad idea to do a degree that I'm not sure if I want to get or not but I don't want to wait until I'm 40 before deciding what I want to do with my life. This is my life and it's ending one minute at a time.
