Re: Team Fortress 2

Post by C-Fan »

Acquired my 20th unusual hat yesterday. I was looking for an all-class unusual with a weather effect, and I got one: a stormy storm horrific headsplitter. According to backpack, there are only 3 in existence, and its worth about 6.4 buds. Cost me 3 of my unusuals to get: my massed flies brain slug, my blizzardy private eye, and my smoking texas ten gallon. That's about 5.6 buds, but I really liked those hats, so felt like a steep price. Anyway, I now only have 4 unusuals:

 Planets grimme hatte
 Ghosts Ushanka
 Blizzardy luchador
 Stormy headsplitter

I think my plan is to put the headsplitter on the market and see if I can't get a cheaper all class and sweets, but if I can't I'm happy to keep it. I like that its such a rare hat. I also have 9 keys and 42 ref, so if I keep building up my stocks I may make a play at a crappy unusual for one of my classes, so I have a bit more diversity (all my classes now can wear an unusual, but only heavy and medic have their own).

In other news, I've almost built a killstreaker natascha. Excited to see how that plays.

I'll post a pic next time.

i just tested it and it worked ... you don't have to put a specific killstreak weapon to complete a specialzed kit fabricator ... i put a KS escape plan to fill a sydney sleeper specialized fabricator ..

Thanks Julien.

I finally made my Natascha killstreaker. On my very first run with it, I got a 41 kill streak, which is likely my kill record with Natascha.

I may make a blackbox killstreaker, though I'm also trying to sell it.

Right now I have 9 keys and like 40 ref. Not really sure what to do with it.

after a bit of thinking, i finally thought that only professional killstreaks are worth putting on my weapons. regular and specialized are usefull to build them but i don't really care about them. i mostly build them to put them on the market and get money.

SO, i FINALLY finished my second profesionnal weapon, the pistol :D

Killstreaker: Incinerator
Sheen: Hot Rod (purple'ish)

and you know that i have the sandman already. i just need the scattergun one and i'm all set :D then, i'll get on soldier ... i don't know if i should build the shovel professional fabricator kit that i have tho.

i'm at 1 mission to finish my 10th mission and i'm really not done playing this. unless i have a super duper australium that i can sell for a lot of money and buy all the kits i want :), i can't wait to put my hand on one !!!

I think I've done 4 or 5 tours, and I still haven't even SEEN somebody get an australium wep. I also have never gotten a pro kill kit. Only specialized ones.

I sold my specialized black box kit today. I got back 3 TOD, a fast learner, and a level 69 MK1 botkiller rocket launcher. I put the botkiller up for trade, and got back a key and a tod ticket. So all told I got back 4 tod, a key, and a fast learner. Going to do another tour and see what I get in it. I really like the new maps.

On my 8th tour, I finally saw somebody get one. It was kinda ridiculous too:

 The scout in my group has an australium scattergun, which he says he won in his last tour (28th or something)
 As we play, he jokingly says: "how cool would it be if I got another australium wep? I bet the odds are astronomical." I agree.
 The round ends, and he gets us all credit bonuses (yet I somehow didn't get the achievement for that?)
 Everybody gets their standard loot, and he gets his last.
 He somehow got 4 boxes for tour completion?!?! I'd never seen that before.
 His first two boxes are really good: a jag ks kit, and a professional sniper rifle fabricator. I forgot what his third box was.
 His fourth box was an australium knife.

So this guy got australium weps in consecutive tours. Wow.

In more personal news, I acquired a new unusual. I traded my orbiting planets grimme hatte (1.1 buds) and 1 bud of keys/sweets, and obtained a Dead Presidents (floating money) Bear Necessities (Heavy hat, basically a bear head). I can't find a value online for it, but I'm sure its well over 2 buds. More importantly, I can wear it with my blizzardy luchador, so it looks like I have a snowy bear head with orbiting money. I'll post a pic later.

Almost done with my specialized minigun kit...may end up using it if I don't get a ridiculous offer.

at the end, i'll have a strange festive specialized force-a-nature (still have to buy the spec fab kit, i need 0.09$ :-/ )
a mad milk :-/
and a genuine profesionnal Fan o'war (incinirator, mean green)

i only need 9 parts to build another spec kritz now

and i still have like 27 tickets :D

Nice man! We really need to do another mission together. I've had a bad run of getting on servers where nobody has more than 2 tours completed. I do what I can to teach them, but after 3 failed waves I leave.

Also thanks for turning me on to the market. It's a great system to buy a good fabricator for $2, do a tour (also $2) and then sell your completed ks kit for $6. Yeah its only a $2 profit, but I would have played the maps anyway, and its nice to not lose money on the deal.

Tonight I beat Bavarian Botbash. It was notable, cause our team only had 5 people throughout. While waiting for the first wave, we got tired waiting for a 6th. We did the first two waves without failing, then decided to push through. Pretty amazing team to be able to do that...lots of fun.

TOD tickets are back to $1 in the store. When they were 50 cents I bought a few, but now Im less likely to keep doing MVM now that theyre more expensive again.

nice one on BB ... me and my news friend almost did the smae thing on the 2nd map, we never beat wave 5 tho, with the 8 bonked scouts :( i didn'T have a heavy ... but we beat wave 3 and 4 and get 100% of the money, we lost wave5 two times but we had all the money too, those f*cking scouts !!! even the 54 crit heavies were not a problem

you'll still be able to buy tickets with the money you make from selling your spec kits on the market :) KEEP PLAYING !! :D

Prop Julien. I am just now learning how hard it is to make a pro kit.

Today I bought a pro fabricator for sniper rifle for 3 keys ($7.47). Singularity effect, emerald sheen. Cheapest fabricator for this on the market now is $66. Gonna try and build it then sell it cheapest kit is around $87), but now I need to make spec unique weps for it.

omfg !!!!! awesome deal !! pro are long to build but i think they worth it.

are you gonna sell it on the market or is it for you ?

on another note, i just finished to build my first spec scattergun (team shine). i pût it on a strange scattergun and i'm trying to sell it for 18$ (15.66$ for me) there is no team shine on the market and there is only 4 on the market. according to the sell history, i might be able to sell before the next time i play. they usually sell around 15$ tho the kit itself is around 12$ on the market, so i'm taking a chance but i don't think i'll stay with it. if i do, i can always sell it for like 13$ and still higher than a kit ... next objective is to build the other spec scatter (team shine) for myself, i already started with the parts i didn't need when i was building the first one, so it won't take long.

if i sell the item on the market, i'm gonna buy a spec rocket launcher idk the color i want tho, i might be lucky and find one before i buy one tho : since i'm not there yet, i don't need to buy it asap

Sold for $76.04 just now (somebody paid $85, and I got $76). Wow. So I figure I put in close to $18 into building it (3 keys for fab, $1.50 for special parts, $8 for two spec kits), so I'm thrilled I got $76 for it. So now I have $94.74 in the market, which I can use to buy videogames or other items. Wow.

I celebrated by opening a crate 42. I got a bldgs destroyed part, which is worth 1.5 keys. Nice.

Thanks Julien!

Today I acquired an unusual in the weirdest way. I was tired of the new MVM maps, and I only needed one more map on Bonebreaker to complete that tour, so I played with Eric Chang. We complete the map, I get my loot... and it's a silver botkiller minigun mk II. Nothing to write home about. But then I go to my trading website, and see if anybody is searching for that series botkiller. I find a guy who is.

I trade him:
 Silver Botkiller Minigun MK II

He trades me:

 1 key (already worth double my botkiller)
 Blizzardy handyman handle!

I would have been happy just getting a key for it! The unusual isn't worth much (16-17 keys), but still. Very stoked on this. :D
