Oh, blog! How things change so constantly! Spring has come and I must admit, I spend a great deal of my weekends simply sitting outside, revelling in the beauty of the season.
I am still sick and footbagless, but that's become more of a dull sensation than a biting pain. I am recursively inundated with homework so I'm kept busy enough that I don't notice I'm busy.
One odd thing, or perhaps not so odd, is that I've grown a bit lonely. I find myself wondering more and more why I do not have a girlfriend, or why I never really have had one. It seems perplexing, and likely has evolved from the onset of Spring. The difficulty is that this feeling compels me to find a girl-- any girl-- to date, but I recognize this is the worst possible alleviation, as it would be for all the wrong reasons. Why is it that when we feel alone is the worst time to try to find comfort, when, if we are feeling content, that is the best time to find another person? Such cruel irony.
Though perhaps "alone" is not the correct word, as I feel completely at ease with my social situation as far as friends go. I daily must stand in awe of the true friendships that have developed since I arrived at college 7 months ago. They truly are the source of my greatest happiness.
Yesterday, for example, Mike, Josh, and myself spent the greater majority of the day together, first visiting WuStock, a sort of "battle of the bands" with food and inflatable games. Mike and I did the obstacle course 3 times (I won them all), did some jousting, and potted some plants. Then, we saw that there was a raffle for an ipod in an hour and a half, so we decided that the three of us would go to liggett and play pool until then. We went and just talked while playing cutthroat, eventually returning to enter into the raffle/ trivia contest for the ipod. I ended up winning, though perhaps not in the most direct way. When that event ended, Mike and I watched an Elite Eight game, before the three of us headed to The Village for dinner. What happened after dinner was one of the best surprises of the day. Mike, Josh, and I just came back to my room and talked, when several people began to trickle in. A girl on my floor, Yun, came in and started talking with us, and then Kang Li, followed by Alex. Finally, David entered. The seven of us talked about gender and race-related dating issues, such as why one sees so many more asian women with non-asian men than asian men with non-asian women. Eventually, we each talked about our "preferences", and somehow, in ten more minutes, it turned into an argument between Yun and David about whether F-1 or Nascar was better (???). Josh, Mike, and I figured that was our cue to leave, so we just kinda left my room and went to Bear's Den, an eating place on campus, because I had an experiment I wanted to try. It seems that when a person gets frozen yogurt, the cashiers don't really care how high they stack the froyo, as long as it stays in the cup, so I took a large soda cup-- maybe 8 inches high-- and filled it completely with froyo. I then filled the small froyo container with froyo, and deposited the entirety of the froyo from the large soda cup ontop. I ended up with a quantity probably equal to 4 times the allotment of froyo contained in a small container, and took it to the counter. The cashier gave me a puzzled look and then laughed. He only charged me for a small. So Josh, Mike, and I, upon exiting, took two small containers and split the froyo three ways-- we ended up essentially getting a small froyo for a third of the price each. Interesting to know. It seems like a "you can have as much as you want for one price as long as you can balance it in the cup" sort of deal. I'm gonna try piling two large soda cups worth on sometime, though to be honest I don't really like froyo that much.
So yeah, good times with friends, amazing weather, and confusing feelings and thoughts.
I know one day I'll find a beautiful young mind,
strong independent feminine medicine the kind
of love that buds flowering, lust overpowering,
the feeling is now and my libido is towering,
above all the love cause push came to shove....
