Flogging Molly is where its at if you want Irish Punk. I think they're better than Dropkick Murphys but I might be slapped for saying that.

dropkick murpheys and flogging molly have similar musical expression but cant be compared in my opinion. there are a few other bands out there with a similar spin on music such as the pogues and real mackenzies (*sp). i heard a band, blood or whiskey, last night. they play a similar style yet more Oi! then the irish or scottish punk the previous bands are known for. i dug what i heard though.

black flag does drinkin and drivin but i dont know if its the same song i was talking about. thats a damn good song though. curse me now cause i liked black flag without rollins. :o
so im rummaging through some music at a friends house and i found a band i havent heard in a long time...the mentors. i guess you could say they arent really punk but then the US versions of punk have always walked a thin blurry, grey line. they have this one song i really friggin dig that ive heard on KAOS called 'donkey dick'. theyve also done one song i know of with gg allin. the song blows but hey...gg is in it and gg is jesus christ after all.

**edit** i spelled jesus wrong hahaha and im realizing it drunk on bourbon too

I also enjoy Blak Flag without Rollins, they were better before they got him.

ty spadrick for letting us all know that

suicide girls rock!!!
i still havent had any sleep. i got a bit of a hangover but i think the trucker speed is working cause i havent really slowed down enough to feel it.
i didnt git to see anyone on the list of bands playing last night except alexisonfire. i got to see about 20 or so minutes of them.
i was very disappointed. they are fine in studio but they suck ass live. one thing i appreciate about the band is how precise and skilled the guitars are on their cds but they just werent pulling it off live. the guitars were waaay off. a 6 yr old could have held a better tune and rhythm hahaha.
their seamless blend of death-core, 80s hair/glam and punk is fun but the studio is this bands best friend. hahaha
my disappointment quickly faded when suicide girls came on though. my jaw dropped and i had to put my beer down. these girls are unbelievable!!! the tattoos on the girls were beautifully worked out. made me wish mine was already finished. i fell in and out of love with the passing of every new girl. hahaha
if youve never seen or been to a burlesque show...go to one. this is one of the better ones ive ever been to though.
it was a blast...i was going to stay the weekend in austin on the streets, spange'n for beer and mcdonalds money, but it just didnt work out. oh well, ill gutterpunk another day, another weekend...maybe next out of town show i got to ill be more prepared.
oh yeah, i also got to shred with some street kids near the drag. (guadalupe across from UT) that was cool. no hardcore freestylers but there were some stylee tricks coming from some of these kids. luckily i had my sandman and a 32panel on me...no stiff crochet bags from headshops were played.
soooo, a few bars, beer, bourbon, crappy bands and lots of punky girls...i dont think it could have turned out much better.
