Matt & Tom:

Not everyone has a great imagination to come up with good combos to practice, especially when they are tired at the end of a session, or if they always play alone. Even with a great imagination, you're still limited by habit and routine.

I didn't post this before because it is a hack (read: incomplete) I threw together in time for the new years jam. It was made only for competition so it doesn't have any good features, like choosing string length. The max is 7 because Mike and I figured it would be hard to memorize more than that quickly in competition. If you want more, just splice combos together. There's a lot of other stuff I want to do too, and I've been putting off working on it cause I've been busy getting my life together. If someone really wants to make this project great they should talk to Steve and make a version to put into footbag.org using php and mysql. That way people can use it to keep track of their progress online, a la collecting pokemon. I will eventually do this once I've got other things taken care of.

This only works in windows.

Read the instructions I included. A browser window will pop up, but you still have to wait for the program to finish loading before it starts working (bad user interface design, I know). The command prompt will show this when the program is ready:
=> Booting WEBrick...
=> Rails application started on http://0.0.0.0:3000
=> Ctrl-C to shutdown server; call with --help for options
[2007-04-14 12:48:10] INFO WEBrick 1.3.1
[2007-04-14 12:48:10] INFO ruby 1.8.5 (2006-08-25) [i386-mswin32]
[2007-04-14 12:48:10] INFO WEBrick::HTTPServer#start: pid=1456 port=3000
Once you see that hit refresh, or go here http://localhost:3000/combos/ . It won't work if your firewall blocks the program.

Major flaw: It will crash if you don't put the right kind of tricks in. For instance, if you choose 4 add combos and under 4 adds you put only clip > clip and clip > toe tricks, and no toe > clip tricks, the program will crash cause it won't be able to link between all the tricks. If that happens, point your browser here http://localhost:3000/combos/clear to reset, and then make necessary changes to the database.

If you want to have a separate list of tricks, like for different types of sessions or for another person, just make another copy of the program folder.

I'm not looking for feedback on this program. Enjoy it for what it is.
