There needs to be a post here. Whats you favorite sub-genre of punk. I guess mine would be Hardcore.

So I've been trying to broaden my horizons and I've started listening to much more Oi. I have to say Oxblood is amazing, Cocksparrer is amazing, Combat 84 is amazing, The Templars are amazing. This thread has been dead for a while so I thought it needed a post .

Any body here mention Against Me! yet, I was just listening to some of there old stuff and it's really good. I don't even know why I like it. The singers voice is so bad, he just sings with some much emotion it's hard for me not to like it... havn't heard much of there new cd anyone know if it's anygood...

I've never really ever "categorized" any bands as punk... but bands that I think that are good that others have categorized are definately...

AFI (at least their old stuff... they've kind of mellowed a little bit with their latest cd), Pennywise, Sex Pistols, Misfits, Ramones, Black Flag... and such.

The Clash, hello one of the man infulences for all punk bands today. Except for the wannabes like: Blink 182,Simple Plan,Good Charlotte. Also The Ramones are awseome. As for newer punk,Anti-Flag and thats it all other newer punk is just pop shit.

Indeed Anti-Flag are pop. I myself am not a fan of The Clash but hey alot of people are. As for AFI, I like them but they are not punk at all. They other ones names are pretty good though.

Nah,Anti-Flag arn't. Shit like bline 182 is and simple plan and good charlotte. Atleast Anti-Flag sticks to kinda what they point about what punk is and their songs often have to do something with the governmet. The 3 bands I listed above are all emo bands that say they are "punk".

Anti-Flag cries all the time and they make the same song every time. The three other bands you listed shouldn't have even been spoken here.

I'm not a very big fan of The Clash... but I know a lot of people tend to look at them as one of the beginners of what could be considered 'the punk music era' deal. I do give them credit though... they did influence a lot of bands.

Like a t-shirt I like once said:

T-shirt front:
`Punk`s not dead`

T-shirt back:
`It just sucks now.`
