Just for the record, Tokyo`s Yamamoto `XTC` Hideki gave this move the very clever name `Paraguay.` For, while not actually paradox, is pretty much a Paradox Guay. All I can say is it is really hard to make a witty pun like that in another language.

Pickups and guays should be paradox. From .org's paradox tutorial:

"Paradox" as a term only makes sense when used to describe a
move that is more difficult than, but otherwise identical to
another move -- wherein the difference is entirely attributed
to the *set*. Furthermore, the set for a paradox move is always
from the cross-body position.

This applies to pick up and guay.

Why shouldn't they be paradox?

yeah, after all the setting leg makes the same "snaky" s-curve movement as in a paradox mirage.

**Warning: off topic post feel free to ignore it , but I had to jump in, sorry**
People,
Why are we rehashing a discussion that's already happened like 3-4 yrs ago?
Actually they both do(said in reference to far legover and pickup getting pdx). Think about it. "Far" Guay is a paradox drifter only caught infront of you, not xbody. If you don't believe me, just ask Steve Goldberg.
Um Mr Goldberg isn't always right (shock horror :o), and if you look throught the piles of emails on this topic (the great paradox debate) on the .org email list archives, you'll see that eventually it came to be accepted that pdx pickup/guay isn't actually paradox (or something like that, I haven't read it in a while).
As for comparing far guay and pdx drifter, there is way more full body/hip movement with the drifter, where as with the guay you can be sneaky and get away with only waving the dex leg around (in a controlled manner of course :P)

No new strings for me :?

I'm sorry I fucked up the notation with the Guay, didn't mean to confuse!
I do understand why they aren't paradox, they're just not tough enough!
But enough of that.

Butterfly > sidewalk > ripwalk > stepping ss illusion > paradon > butterfly > [ clip > Op in > Same out > same plant outside of toebox on ground > op going for the clipper stall > plant on ankel of Op > add weight] ..... damn that hurt!
I was going for Blurrier!

Any tips you can pass on? I really want to hit barrage - although I admit that this is probably way out of my league right now. I only just hit Legover BSOS. But barrage looks so freaking cool ;)

I feel like a tool following up Pinkus but:
  • -Fairy Pickup>Fairy Pickup
    -Fairy Mirage>Atomsmasher [repeat]
    -Tapdown>Tomahawk (first try)
    -Paradon>Paradox Mirage [repeat]
I know that last one is a bit pathetic, but I'm working on that drill so I can finally hit BAP.
