Allright my wait is over, I just got my acceptance letter from the Australian Graduate School of Management for their 2009 MBA!!

SCORE!!

So Sydney it is after all... it was a bit of a toss up between Sydney and Melbourne but Sydney has the better MBA program and that's where I'm headed!! I'm super stoked and think this is going to be one of those deciding turns (for the best) in my life!

(I'm really super stoked about the results: the admissions where tough)

Congrats! I remember how good it felt to have that decision taken care of.

Side note: I think you'll find MBA program "easier" than undergraduate programs. I did at least >> in my case, undergrad was at a liberal arts college, so I had to take all sorts of classes that weren't in my core area of interest (i.e. since not my main interest, more difficult to be motivated, therefore more difficult to make the subjects 'stick' in my mind). MBA was 100% in my areas of interest so staying super focused was natural. Lots of work, but it was enjoyable work. Hope that makes sense. In any case, good luck!!

edit: I could have done without the accounting classes... that's what accountants are for! ha ha

hey Bob, that's precisely my line of thinking: the courses are actual centers of interest for me. Hence following them should be easier.

Oh and I had a more thorough read of their offer: they're throwing in a 25000 AUD grant in the offer!! Sounds like they REALLY want me there!

Talk about win-win!

bah les 25k c'est consommable uniquement en credits d cours (total de 57k) donc bon pas de binouzes mais ils me font une belle reduc sur le cout total!!

yeah it's at University of NSW and the campus is in Randwick where I'll be looking for a flat shortly.

that's a sweet area to live, my friend used to live in Kensington which is right by UNSW, not too far from the city or the beach either.

Thats awesome news mate, congratulations! And thats not just cos you're coming to Sydney and not Melbourne

I have a friend who goes to UNSW and lives in Kingsford, shes like 5min walk from campus and yeh, the beach is about 10min by car/bus too. Plus you can go to Randwick Racecourse for race days and stumble back to your apartment without a taxi haha

Top stuff dude, let us know if you need any help or things done before/when you arrive. Maybe not find an apartment for you though lol

Hey Ian, yeah all is cool. I learned this moning that i was also accepted at the melbourne Business School (and they also threw in a hefty grant) but Sydney has the better MBA so Sydney it is. My sis is currently living in Melbourne so I'll be popping over there every now and then such as for the Melbourne Footbag Jam in October for example. Thanks for your offer of help but I think that I have most things covered so far. I'll definitely ring you once we're in Sydney so that we can kick and catch up. I'll PM you for your number.

Oh since I'm on a good news roll: Benoite (who you know) and I are now engaged and will be getting married in France next year!

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

I must have a lucky star because no later than this morning and with a whopping 14h of courses behind me I pulled off the bluff of the century by passing my driving exam (yeah yeah I should have done this 14 years ago I know).

Anyway I'm off to buy some loto tickets because I'm on a roll here!
