I love being on holiday. Having worked at footlocker full time the last years
makes me appreciate my new life, with school, latin studies and these
long ass holidays even more. Although i do some of that sleeping in,
skating to the lake, shredding away carelessly in the sun and getting
bent with the crew at weekends since four weeks str8, it all still feels
like a dream .

Today was great. My day started with a big bowl of fruits and müsli and
giggly chats with my cute neighbors. Then i doped my self up by chatting
with Janis and Asmus, + watching circle madness from worlds and headed
to the lake. I love shredding there - good surface, people on bikes to
keep you sharp, plus some youths from the newly built skate park
to share the nosy spectators with.

Shredwise, i was focusing on long runs and the execution of tricks,
there are so many different ways as in how to hit a trick, and i'm just
starting to find out what feels and looks good. Now that i prolly will get
a new pair soon, i resurrected my old lavers strait outta their casket
and i was relieved not to miss the nasty g unit clipper .
there where a lot wirls, tapping pick ups, dsos an dlos, ducks and spins
involved, and still way to little stepping. Gotta change that.#
I also want to do more downtime double dexes bs midrun.
And i want to nail all the kool shit that i've been clearing the dexes for.
Runs were longish and relaxed, i seem to be on something here...
but i have to work hard to keep it that way.

I think its time to thank some guys here, in no particular order :

Serge for inspiring me to go for some stylee links

Lon Smith for shredding so detachedly

Asmus and Wim for reading and deutsch sprechen

Mathieu for providing us with the goods

Jim Penske and Vasek for being themselves

Jorden and Eli for helping me to understand

Stephen B. for saving my life

Andi, Bea, Bjoern, Max and Tobi for teaching me how to shred
Entschuldigung for stealing next page..

Danke für nennen ich!
Und danke biz Serge! Güte inspiration!

Kool people like you should always feel free to take any spot in my blog .
As for our infinity race, i havent been working conciously on breaking my record, but i feel that i've made some progress on form and "positioning".
And everytime i do, like 4 infinities b2b plus some osii midrun, my heart makes a little gratifyed leap :D .

Todays' shred was excellent . My mind was in a concentrated and positive state, i didnt get sidetracked by any hot chicks passing by or by Maxes'
superior shred skills, i just did my thing.

Long and slow warm up with kicking, tiltless, easy runs and stretching first,
then i drilled stepping and also managed to remember working on my
drifters too. The rest was runs and new tripless combos .

New Tripless :

dimwalk>ducking butter>blur>paradon

dimwalk>ripwalk>spinning butter

atomsmasher>paradon>ducking pdx mir>dimwalk>11 guiltless 8)

Runs :

atomsmasher>tapping pick up>smear>dlo>ducking mir>ss dlo>dlo>
ss dlo>plo>astonishment ( nine toe guiltless out of the fucking blue )

run with rip>rip, stepping leg bsos, blur bsos and shmoe

another run with 6 unique stepping tricks and 12 random guiltless

16 contact run starting on 4-4-4 with spin clip bsos, merkon>plo and maby both blurs

Random Observations :
I need to work on my breathing. I gotta stop having the "follow up"trick
on my mind, before having completed the previous one.
If i can solve both of these issues, my runs will be better.
I gotta accept that i'm not as bad at footbag as i like to think
Worrying about impressing others - fellow players or bystanders sucks :D
I have to make a new training plan in order to give all my concepts equal
attention .
I'm glad that i reduced my smoking habits immensly, i love my new diet
and footbag is still the greatest thing in the world.

peace

dimwalk>drifter>gyro pick up>run

tapping pick up>pixie pick up>quantum pick up>butter>blurry pick up>
butter>pdx mir>drop on ducking pick up

another run with 20ish contacts ; felt really solid and relaxed, good breathing,
decent posture, but to many drills for my taste...

I wasnt able to play for like 6 days due to a nasty cold and work and so on,
and today i was also close to give in to after-work-tiredeness .
I'm really glad that i went for it, cuz i was thinking about footbag alot
the last days, i got some very useful advice in pm form and my feet
were itchy, despite all the tiredness.
Physically i wasnt in the state to go all crazy and ii was alone, so i kept
it relaxed and somewhat analytical. It was really interesting to work
on gyro, i think i should have a better timing after todays shred.
Then there was this hunger for more drifters in my life, and i tried some
ways to play into and out of em, dim>drifter>gyro pick up felt the best -
i love it when i seal a new, hard to get combo with a nice string after
hitting it for the first time. Similar sensation when i first sealed drifter b2b.
It was my plan to seal that combo with any three add, and when i did so
with a decent string, i was very happy.
I also hit spinning pick up for the first time and sealed it with short runs on both sides.

It's a bit of a Paradox that I guy working at footlocker had to get some american to send him his used shoes.

Please hit Neutronsmasher/Johnny Quest, it was the trick that made me start shredding and it's still my favorite trick. But it's so far from the tricks I do and right up your alley. HIT IT! (It is Atomic Gyro Mirage in case somebody doesn't know!)

Keep on doing Quantum Pickups, DSO and Gyro Mirages. Stylaaah!

16 contacts of ducking clip>div clip rpt ; 16 ducking clip (again)
Mad props for that!

Oh yeah Lise call this cool drill Rubberwoman, maybe you could give it a try, it's:
Tapdown > Stepping SS Mirage > Atomsmasher [rpt]
Just work it so you can hit it when I come visit.

Bitte kommt auf MSN bald, ich will shr gern sprechen mit dich.

That rubberwoman business sounds tempting - but it will be hard for
me to do, basically i'm lucked out that my b-day isnt anytime soon...

As for your requests, i tried neutron pick up, no luck tho, there's something
sketchy about my technique that needs to be fixed .
But if hit an earlier request of yours, scroll down and you shall see .

Another solo sesh tonite, the gang seems to be on lazy path the last
two weeks, but i dont mind, shredding alone has its advantages too.
Footbag is so hot right now, i fel like a newb again, always thinking
about it and shit, plus i feel like heading in a good direction...
I hit some drills that i've always wanted, still they dont hurt
my spontaneity, i feel relaxed when i play .
More courage, more fun .

Nu drills :

butter>rip>osis>pdx mir>rpt>ss butter

tap>butter>pdx mir>rpt>dlo>butter>pdx mir>rpt>d.mir>butter>
pdx mir>d.mir>butter>drop :( :P - my legs almost fell off on that one !

Nu runs :

pdx dlo>butter>pdx mir>ss butter>pdx dlo>d.mir>plo>butter>
step leg>butter>pdx mir>butter>whirl>ducking butter
- pdx dlo bsos 1. try, although i never skool it .

paradon>ducking mir>butter>pdx mir>plo>paradon>ducking mir -
no luck repeating para>d.mir, but at least a decent bsos :8

Nu links :

walkover>swirl

atomsmasher>legbeater>pdx dlo - 2 tries

atomic ss kneebump>op kneebump ss butter

Random observations :

alot of dexless, drifters, atomsmashers ; flip drifter needs a better mirage,
flip quantum's on, paradon is my best buddy atm, i miss my lazy crew.

Supa Shred

I seem to be on a good streak here, over the last few sessions my whole game feels changed.
Its mostly about the mindset, i guess - i feel a lot happier and more relaxed now :D .

In the past, i've only hit two guiltless runs over 20, today i hit three !
The trix kinda just pump out my imagination into my feet, i remember to
breathe and i can hit moves on command that are shouted to me in the
circle. That vibe was kept up for 1,5 hours, then my sponteneity grew
tired, but my legs were still there. So i fine-tuned some stuff and hit some
new combos also, and when Andi - whos progressing nicely, btw - and Bea
had left, Max and me played on for another hour.

spinning clipper>ducking mirage bsos

a twenty contact run with a fair balance of downtime and toe shuffle,
tapping leg/eggplant on one side, atomsmasher/eggplant one the other.

another twenty + contact run starting with : toe blur>atom>dmir>d.leg>
toe blur>atom

toeblur>legbeater>ducking butter

sidewalk>ripwalk>ducking butter>short run

legbeater>ducking butter>messy diving clipper

not new but nice : toe ingyro mirage; tapdown first try bs

lots of spins, dbl dexes, toe shuffle, ducks and dlos.
ok ratio of steps and whirls.
some fives into runs.
too little drifters, forgot about swirls, barfly and pdx dlo.
bops are coming along .

i have to work on quantum/atomic butters, i want a better nuke set
and a more coherent memory :D

Logical Progression Session

Yesterday was like a drug, and today i still felt the rushes and even tho
my legs were all fucked and tortured after work, i had to go out and shred .

I started out being nice and easy towards myself . My main thing was
"fine tuning" some stuff, i guess i fixed the weak part of my weaker spin.
As long as i concentrate on the set and start nice and low, all previous
froggyness seems like a bad dream from the past
My barfly is also finding its way to usefulness and sealing it finally
with a trick that isnt a handcatch, felt great.
Inspired by Asmus, i also worked some bigger trix, mainly stampede
and spinning whirl ;
As fun as it might be, towards the end of it, skooling felt edgy - there is a
thin line between determination and stubborness, and Junior from Russia
is right . footed is the worst word in the world !

spinning clip>butter>rpt>run

ripwalk>ducking mirage bsos in a decent enuff string

spinning clip>osis>ducking clip>ducking clip>rpt 8) that felt so good

barfly>ducking clipper - hurray .

spinning whirl twice ( one ok, one perfect, at least 30 footed :? )

And dont you worry, my danish prince, i havent been practicing infinities
that much, but i did some mixed bop strings instead...there might be
hope for you :D
I will try to hit the first two tricks that you've mentioned - that would be a nice first fearless .

Thanks Chris !

After wedenesdays' madness ( posted about in our crew blog ), i had
a relaxed outdoor shred with Andi after schhol yesterday .

I worked mostly on whirls and drifters, until Andi asked me the crucial
question : " Can you also hit blurry whirl" . I replied that i have, but
that it would be way over the top to say that i can, gave it a go,
and hit a nice one first try . Lucky shot i guess, but felt kool nonetheless .

What followed, was my best downtime pdx whirl session so far -
i nailed a bunch of tomahawks, some half cast, some the real deal
and also a couple ps whirl, something that i couldnt even concieve
doing in them gs.
One ps whirl felt plain epic . Perfect set and posture, a big nice lift
to a clean, sharp dex and a gentle stop - that felt so great, the classic
moment in everybody's life, when one pretends to know what Vasek
feels like  .
Now i understand, why everybody is/was using/liking this move so
much and to me, ps whirl is the signature move of footbag -
its nice looking, while not being a "tough" move, its athletic and graceful,
a poem of control and brutality . I LOVE PS WHIRL !!!

other than that i hit :

ducking clipper>drifter>ducking clipper>rpt and

butter>whirl>rpt>d.clip>whirl rpt minus the last stall

i will rest up me bones like a good boi to be all fresh for the week end

I remember PS whirl was my first real and enduring love in footbag. Worlds final routines from 2003 were among the first footie vids I ever saw, and among all the craziness I saw PS whirl was the only trick I always recognised
Anyway, I totally understand your ode to ps whirl. It was pending right before my damn nose for weeks and weeks before I finally hit one and just footing it felt so daaaamn pre-orgasmic. It took some more time before the trick actually 'came' though, and to date I feel I still haven't really hit many 'real good ones' (cfr. the epic one you describe).

Wim wrote:and to date I feel I still haven't really hit many 'real good ones' (cfr. the epic one you describe).
i know that feeling  ! are you comming to french open - it would be so nice to see you for some shred and beer soon .

Experimental Session :

My right ankle is feeling a little strange since the last days, so i took ti easy,
skipped drilling, and skooled my flip swirl and barfly -
i think i solved my "energy transfer problems " for the latter and i cant wait to hit this shit b2b !

I also worked on some stuff that i could use for routines like :
pixie ducking inside>walkover>far symple swirl or tapping muted pick up>
pixie ss clip ( Yves version ) and other stuff like that.

Other than that i wanted to figure out why i havent hit blurriest or
pixie paradon yet . I did and i corrected my conceptions about them -
now i see dimmiest as pixie legover/illusion bailed to same butter,
i pretend " its real easy to do a plo with a deep second dex " and after
it i just fall into ss butter . Like that my dimmiest is indisputably clean
and not hard to perform at all - watching hackrifice vids helped me too !
Towards the end of the session, my gf came by and she hit clipper and both legovers in like 10 minutes wearing ballerinas 8O !
I hope she will finally start to play, cuz unlike me, she learns fast

tapping pick up>datw

pixie paradon ( 5-6 times)

edit : down double down, i hit dod bs some while ago...

conniption city ( twice )

symp atomic gyro toe

and i footed whirlwind and both blurriest and by that i mean, I HAD THEM ON MY FOOT, but i couldnt keep em there...

in other news, i will hit my first fearless combo soon

Cool stuff Daryl! Is the fearless combo going to be Conniption City > Pixie Paradon? You could do it :) Keep on improving! Maybe you could try Paradon Gyro Toe - that's a stylie trick.

Reward Session .

Good shred with Beatrix today, we skooled stuff most of the times,
but there were some nice runs also.
I'm in a good state right now, i dont think much, the tricks just happen .
Relearning clipper and skooling all the related concepts gave me a
better rhythm mostly. I'm more balanced and the whole timing
thing makes more sense, i'm not worrying anymore wheater this
or that works, i just go for it . The main gist of my runs was bops,
spinning clipper, ducking m/l/c , atomic/tapping, smear, plo, dso
whirl, drifter, dlo and some paradons and quantum tricks .

I skooled clipper downtime and dexless mostly, later i dedicated some
quality time to my flip barfly and i was happy with the few runs i did.

ripwalk>blur bsos

butter>whirl>rpt>ducking clipper>whirl>rpt>4 ducking clipper

whirl>ripwalk>whirl>ripwalk

whirl>drifter>whirl>drifter

atomsmasher>legbeater>barfly

paradon>barfly

couple of pixie paradons

25 ? ducking clipper to handcatch - it was like, you stop to eat when you
feel that you've had enuff, even if its your favorite .

Start stalling higher/earlier! It may seem like a dumb advice, but when the footbag gods are giving me a royal pain in the @$$ like that (i.e. it's on your foot but it just rolls off) it generally means I started clippering too low.

Oh and IF I rock a tournie this fall/winter, it will most definitely be Paris Open. If I do that, I'll have to get "good" at baggie again tho :o

Thanks for the hint Wim, i'll will see how that works for me next session,
aka tomorrow .
You should definitly come to French Open, heaps of fun, obviously, and
it also gives you a reason to shake off that dust :D !

Todays' session was different from previous ones - we played outdoors
and got to do runs after 15 minutes of kicking and tiltless.
Towards the end of the sesson i was skooling gyro and spinning,
tapping/slapping and also spinning whirl and tomahawk.

It feels really good to be able to just shred away, without going thru
everything before . It also shows whats reliable and what isnt yet .
I got a fair deal of variety in general, but i gotta try more variations
within all concepts, ducking seems to be the only exception,
but still i never weave and ducking leg/pick happen mostly from toe.

Stuff that i should do more of : merkon, gyro clip/pick/mirage, pdx drifter,
pdx whirl, slapping, stepping clippers, pdx illusion, tapdowns and trips.
There is tons more i bet, but those came to mind first.

Anyways, i'm very happy with the way things are going for me at the moment .
My shred awareness got more intense, i think only when its neccesary
i.e. , when i learn stuff, but not mid-shred ), i worry less and my
feet made a lot of formerly impossible things reality :D .

Today wasnt spectacular by any means, but i felt so light and relaxed
and i bsosed a lot of my current favorite moves like spin mirage, dso,
pdx dlo and ripwalk with out much hassle .
And i came mad close to ripstein a thousand times...

pixie ducking clipper on my flipside - not bad for a guy with almost no flip pixie . when i ducked my strong pixie and hit whirl out of it, Andi was like :
"now on the other side ", to which i replied that i could try, but that it wont
happen ...its kool to be wrong like that . Thanks for the tip dude !!!

flip diving pdx mirage :D

PIXIE DUCKING WHIRL, 4-5 times the clean way, and lots of others..

other trix that i liked :pixie d.pick up>run, phoenix>run, pixie para,
tomahawk, slapdown>run, symple swirl into/out of stuff

- strange whirls and paradons for a bit ; loss of confidence for a while --->
shortish runs for and hr or so...

+ lots of tapping/spinning bsos ; nice toe to toe shuffle ; ducked atomic
a coupla times, seems promising ; i might be able to use symple swirl
mid run soon ; after fighting thru periods of self doubting, i found my
way back to a happier state and i hit some decent shit then !
