Hmm, Santa Cruz crew. Cruz crew. I find that qute amusing for some reason.

Anyways I can't wait to shred with you at NYJ in Chicago Jeremy. Good luck with the sick 1. I remember two years ago you won NYJ sick 1 with fury. I wasn't that good back then so I don't think I ever shredded in a circle with you

But I do remember you helped judge the intermediate routines that year...and I won! So thanx for that. And this year I am definitely going to shred with you!

Later

I had a session last night with Emily- just we two. It went aight y' kno'. I was trying dumb stuff mostly, instead of actually doing things to benefit my game, but thats because I wasnt feeling particularly well and was sort of lackadaisical. Emily played just aight as well. She was mostly skooling a couple of things-illusions flip, steppings, and ss clippers, rather than going for longish runs.

In any case, I hit a few things I was (and AM) proud of, although at the end of the session I was suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper fucking frustrated:

-backside spikehammer :D (stepping ducking paradox symposium mirage)
-8 consec. eggbeaters (one of my challenges 8) )
-5 flip eggbeaters consecutively
-terragex3 (acually not so proud of this one b/c I should be hitting about 10)
-sumo>tapping torque (spinal tap?) :o

I was mad at the end of the session because I challenged myself to hit 35 eggbeaters over 8 consecutive attempts at linking them. I hit 5 the first try, 2 the second try, 5 the third try, 0 the fourth try, 8 the fifth try, and 0 on tries 6, 7, and 8. I dropped the first attempt on the last three turns, which killed me because it was the very last part of my session. SO, although I set a new consec eggbeater record with 8, ultimately I was unhappy because I never reached 35 (only got to 20).

This was my birthday weekend. Amelia, my beautiful girlfriend, organized an amazing surprise birthday dinner and night, and a 2-day overnight footbag weekend. The following people surprised me by being in my living room as I came home from a Friday wine tasting/shopping/movie adventure in Monterey:
-my Cousin Sally and her bf Dave
-Dat
-Ted Anderson (Ted)
-Mike Hansen (Wolfpac44)
-Emily Kulczyk (Czyk)
-Jenny and Jason (Emily's sis and bf)
-Bryan Fournier (Blackjack)
-Fletcher Funk (FunkLovesFootbag)

Additionally, I got to eat dinner with Dr. Ridiculous and Matt Kain this weekend.

We all went out to eat Sushi at a cool Japanese restaurant on Friday night and the following people spent the night at Amelia's and my townhome:
Mike Hansen, Ted, Emily, and Dat. On Saturday night we all went to the beach for a 2-3 shred session, joined by Fletcher or course, and then into the ocean for some swimming and good natured play. After that we went out to eat an an Indian restaurant in Santa Cruz called the Royal Taj (I think). there was good food. We gave our leftovers to a homeless man outside of the restaurant so he ate a good meal I'm sure. After dinner, we all went out for some night bowling, which was also fun. I got 4 strikes in a row during one game, ending up with a 166. Emily is a good bowler, surprisingly 8). After that, we rented some movies, baked cookies, ate the cookies, had fun, and then watched the Book of Cool followed by Harold and Maud, at the beginning of which I fell asleep. this morning, I am sorry to say that Mike Hansen fell quite ill and slept until 4pm this afternoon. Everyone else was fine and dandy, and got up, ate an awesome puff pastry breakfast, hung out and had another shred session. Actually, only ted, Emily, and I kicked. Dat was sleeping/planning for a concert and Amelia was doing some odds and ends. Today is actually my birthday day- I'm 24 now. In the circle today i hit pdx tappping dlo, legbeater> royale> whirling swirl, whirr>ripstein, whirr>blur, symp dlo>symp dlo, symp bubba beater, legbeater>matador>sumo (rolled off foot when trying legbeater on other side), paradon>janiwalker, blur>toe torque>repeat, stepping butterfly swirl, oooh . . . ripwalk>butterfly rev swirl (1st time ever, first try too!), barfly rake, spinning pdx pickup>pixie xbd rake, whirring swirl (both today and yesterday) and i was super close to pdx tapping blender. Thats a lot of stuff, but I know I'm probably forgetting something. everything mentioned was from today. Anyway, when we hree came in from the session it was about 4:15. It was time for everyone to leave- Ted and Mike to LA, Dat to San Jose, and Emily to San Jose then to Santa Cruz. Now, its just Amelia and I sitting here writing this post. Tonight, I think we are gunnna take it easy, watch some TV, probably eat something really good and then drink some Port, one of the dessert wines we purchased at Chateau Julien (the winery we visited on Friday).

In terms of surprises and having genuine fun, this weekend was possibly the best of my life. I was so utterly surprised by the fact that so many of my close friends were in my living room, celebrating me, that I was basically giddy for about an hour. What I didn't explain at the top of this post was that for the past 2-3 months Amelia had been telling me, asking for reassurance, reminding me that it really was only going to be she and I together on this birthday weekend. She had me convinced that she had three all-day trips planned, one for each day of this weekend. She said that we needed to go home so she could change her clothes for dinner. I was surprised.

Im sad that this weekend is coming to an end . . . its like i have to live a regular life again. I am so thankful though that I got to spend some amazing times with the people i mentiond above, and I sincerely thank them for being with me this weekend. thanks most of all to Amelia for being the BEST blao that a blao could ever hope to have.

Reid, you better watch out for Zeke. If he senses a Mirken bag in your possesion he may go to extreme measures to extract it for himself.

November has been a great month for shred!

This month alone, I think Ive hit between 5-7 new 6-add moves, which is by far the most Ive gotten in such a short timespan. So, all in all Im very happy with my game.

Today, I felt a bit slow during the warmup, not being able to even link barflies or grifters. So, I just decided to pick a trick to skool and go from there. I picked blurry drifter (strong side only), which I consistently hit about 1 in 2.5 tries. Its hard for me to hit stuff out of it because my balance usually fails. Anyhow, I managed the following links:

-blurry drifter>blur
-whirr>blurry drifter
:arrow:blurry drifter>blur>atomic drifter (phatty combo8O)
:arrow:blurry drifter>blurry drifter
-sooo close to blurry drifter>blurriest

will edit and add more later

Before reading, know this: every time I read Byrin Wylie's blog I'm 8O . that kid posts some incredible stuff so you all should take a look if you don't already make a habit of it. Onto the show:

Went to Frederick Street Park hoping for freestyle and net . . was fucking munted by Jackbag who wasn't interested in playing today and Fletch who never showed up. So i'm disappointed. I walk over to the net area and do a bit of that, but my head is totally not into it. I leave early, after only a few games and I head hope to sulk and ponder a solo session.

I arrive home, still frustrated, alienate my gf even further, and then head down to the garage where I call my mom, get reprimanded for not calling my god mother, and then start my ANGRY session. I warm up slowly and I manage the following footbag feats:

-flip blurry drifter>ripwalk (on 4 occasions, first ever steps from flip bd)
-terraging op clipper (an easy one)
-1 clean triage (about 15 with the last dex unclean)
 full symposium tapping dlo (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure??)
-Bill and Ted's bogus journey off my foot 2x
 Tornado 8) (nuclear ingyro mirage)

All in all, two new 6 add moves, bringing the total for this month up to 8 I think. A pretty okay session after lots of shittiness during the day :? i dont know how i feel right now . . .

EDIT:
Heh, thanks slapdash.

When Chuck Norris's wife burned the turkey one thanksgiving, Chuck said, "don't worry about it honey," and went into his backyard. He came back five minutes later with a live turkey, ate it whole, and when he threw it up a few seconds later it was fully cooked and came with cranberry sauce. When his wife asked him how he had done it, he gave her a roundhouse kick to the face and said, "Never question Chuck Norris."

Had a pre-Thxgvg trip shred in my driveway. It yeilded many bountiful treasures (i.e., footbag moves and combos) but not what i wanted to hit. i was hoping to hit a sick 15, and then later a sick 3. I DID hit a sick 3, but not the one I had hoped for, and I only got as high as a sick 11 today. But, since it was only my first day trying to hit S1ck5, I dont feel so bad. I did hit many new super stylie combos like this one:

-flurry>quantum ss pickup>smear>smoke>swirl
-weaving butterfly>zulu clip
-toe blur x2> atom smasher x2>wichdoctor rolled off
