Just ended a 2.5 hours session, first off let me say I am very very EXCITED... ECSTATIC! Started the day looking forward to shredding with steve and chris. 2 comes around and no word from either of them, so I stick around till 3, when steve calls and says he just woke up... Back to my room and chris is online and i missed him by like 20 mintes... SHITE. Oh well solo session in the apt. since my roommate is gone.
Start out warming up, even decide to stretch today, and take more time warming up. After warming up and getting some tiltless strings, and the BOP strings I decided to drill that crap out of my flipside. Started with whirls, hit my first flipside toe whirl, lots of consecutive flip whirls... Then it was on to drifters... they were terrible so went to doing some flip pixie drills, hit some new stuff. From there it was just all crazy random new stuff!
New stuff from tonight:
toe whirl > pdx mirage (rpt)
reverse whirlygig
reverse whirlwind
flip legbeater
flip toe whirl
flip pixie ss pickup
pdx whirl > pdx whirl .. strong > flip footed flip > strong 3 or 4 times
diving clipper > ducking clipper (rpt x3) ... never tried repeating more than once..
flip blurry whirl
flip pixie whirl hit these right after eachother
magellan > plo (rpt)
several flip fairies this is a huge accomplishment for me!
5 consecutive clean illusions strong side, 3 on flip footed 4 on flip
3 consecutive whirls flipside (never landed consec. on flip b4)
ripwalk > blurry whirl
bsos pdx illusions
clean blizzard both sides
8 consecutive flip smears
muted reverse hurl .. feels really cool
flip pdx tap (flip nuke set is feeling and looking so much better)
ripwalk x11 (moshers challenge)
flipside E-walk
strongside frantic ss butterfly
TORQUE from flip clipper... an actual torque!!!
This night made my week because I have been playing really bad lately. I'm very excited and very tired... time for a shower and dinner!

Just ended a short session with chris. hit a couple new moves and some new strings. Hit my first flip midstring dlo in a string that started with flip ss dlo. Had a couple good tombstone attempts, definitely want to hit that one soon.
Highlights
muted nuclear clipper
nuclear ss osis
pixie ss mirage > smoke > pdx mirage never hit smoke b4
ducking pdx mirage > slapdown
bsos drifter
bsos clipset dlo

had an interesting session with those two newer players I'd mentioned, suffice to say, I saw some things I didn't expect. They both came with lots of potential and lots of enthusiasm, but also a few bad habits. I helped them see a different way to do their stepping sets so they'd be cleaner, and suggested they cut their toe walls off. One of them hit a nice, clean ripwalk. The other hit his first mind bender (
) with his first try of the day, and on his own call. Unfortunately, it flew off his foot at a bad angle, but it was amazing to see him set it cleanly, get around it cleanly, and delay it... Lots of speed from that boy, he'll do well. The weather was incredible, we were surrounded by over a foot of snow on all sides, but the sun came down strong and clear today, and it felt like a spring day, it was actually pretty surreal and beautiful and awesome.
My ankle was feeling a little sore, and I had it wrapped for most of the session. Around the middle of the third hour, it started to hurt, so I quit because I didn't want to push my injury. The only trick I couldn't do was ripstein, that hurt too much. I didn't push flip barraging much either, but strong side jani walker came up nice and clean on the first try.
So, I'm back in the game. I should be fine for next week. it was great to play again.

Aric and I kicked the legball yesterday for a few hours. I was driving back to Rochester from Rome, and instead of going home, I called Aric and just went right over to RIT for a session. We were both kinda tired, having played hard yesterday (and Aric the day before as well) but we worked on our strings and styliness, and we had an awesome little one on one kick. Aric hit a run with ducks, dives, weaves, and zulus, all clipper to clipper, all both sides, which was REALLY awesome... he has great control with his head. VERY consistant. I hit both halves of blubberman, I'll have the full drill soon. I also had a run with pdx whirl > pdx drifter 2x each side, but not the full drill. That's another on the soon list. I may have hit pixie grifter before, but if not, I hit it first try yesterday. That was pleasing...
and what's even more pleasing...
is GRASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Greater Rochester Area Shred Session is going to happen May 6-8th in Rochester in conjunction with a HUGE spring juggling festival that's going on the same weekend. This is great because it will give us hundreds of other like minds to hang out with and party with at night, pre-established lodging arrangements, and a HUGE audience of people who are into body and object manipulation, most of whom have never seen freestyle footbag. So we're going to have a lot of minds to blow, and probably a LOT of people to get involved with freestyle. I hope that everyone who wants to come to this event will help making it the best time it can be by hyping it in the Journies to Tournies thread... by the way, this event isn't "formerly" known as GRASS, I don't know how Aric came up with that... But we're running our own tournament, we're doing our own thing in many respects, and we should have a good name. Also, I want something cool to put on t-shirts.
I still need a good logo designed, I'll continue looking into that. I know some screen printers who can make us up some sick shirts / hoodies / what have you, so we can get something cool for y'all to wear home. Maybe I can get some embroidered GRASS sweatbands
So. Hype hype hype. Hope to see EVERYONE there. Oh man, I can't wait...

i put "formerly" in there because our invent is being invited into one that is already fully planned out and named. I didn't want everyone to think that the juggling event was renamed. Our event is ours, and we're free to call it what we want, I was just clarifying that our event is a side show to a much larger pre-established event.
GRASS is going to kick ass.
On a side note, Matt was playing really well yesterday. Tons of long unique strings, lots of cool/hard links.
I was pleased with the one string Matt mentioned, started with 3 contacts of like buter > pdx mirage.. > diving clipper > ducking clipper (rpt) > weaving clipper > zulu clipper (rpt)
that was the first time i hit weaving clipper > zulu clipper on strong side.

well well well... hello footblog.
The bat mitzvah was quite a spectacle... The word of the day was MONEY. The party for this girl was absurd. I heard from a few sources on the planning committee that over $100,000 was spent to make this thing as extravagant as possible. The family also hired a glassblower and airbrush artists to provide the guests with little souveniers and trinkets. They gave me a few boxes of crappy sacks to give out, and I set up in the corner with my Grateful Shred shirt, some black shorts, and my raggy tennis shoes. I was just kicking around, and I had a group of pre-pubescent little jewish boys harassing me and telling me I was terrible. About 20 contacts of tricks shut them up on the spot, that was cool.
Lots of kids came for a few minutes and grabbed a junk bag and booted it around in their slippery dress shoes. One kid hung out with me the whole time I was there. he got 5 or 6 consecutive kicks with a brand new guate, he thought footbag was awesome, and he was all about both sides. He wants to have me play at his bar mitzvah in October. I told that would be cool and gave his mom a business card for the planning agency that I was there under... Thanks for the hookup, Wicked... For someone so worried about not being able to make money with footbag, he sure did just link me up.
So it went great. The kids loved me, they had a great time, I played well, everyone was happy. and they paid in cash, can't beat that.
I was in Long Island from about 1 PM on, and the gig wasn't until 7:30, so I drove half an hour down the expressway Alex Strassman's house. He lives in a gorgeous place with fragments of stained glass in the windows and slate shingles on his roof. it's an older house with lots of small rooms and narrow stairways. The rooms are all connected, so it's easy to get mixed up and lost. The home decor was incredible. I love it when people have the luxury to put some time and creativity and personal touches into their home design.
Anyway... enough about doilies... I had a bagel and we had a session. We both took it pretty easy. There were a few good strings here and there. I hit whirling swirl BSOS for the second time, maybe third ever. That's a pretty big deal to me. Alex has smooth, even, precise style on both sides, I really like watching him play. We kicked until I started getting some ankle pain from going too loose and fast on ripsteins and blenders. We watched Sick 03 and Fourkast and did some freestyle trash talk (ALWAYS fun
). Then, it was off to the party... but we already covered that... so I'll skip past it...
End of the night. Pants back on. Standing in the delivery entrance to the temple. Bouncing party music in the next room... Hired sexy people grooving around the dance floor getting the youth fired up... Envelope with $250. Just a quiet moment, felt like nothing. It was weird. I got in the car and cruised back down the expressway, back towards Alex's place. I got to Adelphi just in time for Paul to pull up and get us settled in his room. We had a little indoor session at midnight or so that turned into an outside session. The weather was just bearable enough for a half-hour of kicking. I played okay, not that well, honestly, being that it was my third kick of the day and it was late... But we had fun. To all those wondering about Gotti's whereabouts, I found him beside the baseball diamond that night. Hopefully, Paul will post the picture someone took of us. Back to the dorms, pluck pluck, and pass out.
and then what? Drive drive drive, get lost, drive drive some more... That was the story for yesterday. It took me two hours to get out of LI... Turns out Paul meant "right" when he said "left"... But that's a different ulcer...
Good times, good times... it rocks getting paid and getting to drive around to play footbag. Getting to travel and rock out with Alex and be on the road a little bit is great... I love my weekenders.

pawel, when I put my smallest toe on the ground and push while I crank my ankle, it's still a little bit sore. My ankle is slightly tighter than it was before I played, and if I do loose-ankle fast moves like blender or ripstein, it hurts a little, and then there's some pinchy pain. I can comfortably do PS whirls on it, and I even rolled it while playing with alex, but it sprang right back without going too far, and it didn't hurt. So I think it's going to be fine. The swelling went down in a few days. I've been going easy on it. We'll see. Thanks for asking

outdoor session for an hour... hit the following moves both sides into symposium whirl: swirl, reverse swirl, ripwalk, dimwalk, ducking clipper, ducking butterfly. Did a lot of symp whirls in general. This was good for me because I've never been that good at flip symp whirls or doing whirls midstring at all. I guess it's a bit of a boring session to talk about. Not much for strings. Those symp whirls felt good, though.

what's a mind bender? Sorry. . Just read this after a while of a break. Who are these "newbs" and how are they newbs? What? Why? Huh?
Speaking of GRASS it's getting warm out and I can see a lot of it EVERYWHERE. Wonderful. I'm already getting all messed up about thinking about this shred symposium we're having. It's a few days after summer has started for me so after I chill and unpack back in the Syr. I'll come back with Greg P and Paul "crazy legover" <no last name given> and I'm thinking there will be a campout somewheres!
No footfighter. Don't know. Maybe it's lost in the mail. So Pat is still without a good bag. Aww.
Oh and aric. TORQUE!? You finally faced that demon, slapped him in the face, and made him look a fool. Good.

I got to play with Paul A and his friend this weekend when they passed through on their way home from toronto. Paul's been picking up the basics really quick, I was impressed. Plus, he had Mosher's first pair of climas and I tried them on... now I see why everyone likes them so much.
Things haven't been very interesting with my playing lately. I haven't been working on anything new, but instead focusing on getting better at what I already know and working to prevent errors and drops midstring. Although I really do need to work on my double downs and whirl variations soon. They're lacking.
Is anyone available on wednesday, 4:30 ish?? So far Matt and I are going to kick, plus Mike is a possibility.

it's ma birfday...
not sure what I'm doing with the day, all I know so far is that I'm at work. That's a good start, at least I'm getting paid to do next to nothing... I'd be doing that at home for free if I wasn't here...
probably a few beers later tonight, that will be fun.
Legs are feeling good, I'm really psyched up to kick tomorrow and bust some strings with my new symp whirls. Mike and I have been talking about squeezing in some time for some filming, and the weather keeps getting better and better... I should have a word with that guy to confirm.
I have a crazy new 3 dex move in my head... I think I can I think I can I think I can...
