Tonight's session at the tennis courts with Fletcher and SoCal Mark was really fun. I saw Fletcher hit his 2nd ever DLO and a few PLO's. I hit a PLO too; We match. I worked on stepping for most of the session. I hit two very nice blurs and almost hit it bsos. I also had a nice string with very nice bubbas bsos. Mark worked clippers for most of the session and made big improvements. He went from not really being able to hit clippers on either side to sealing his first clipper and hitting three clippers (on the same side) in one string. He also came very close to hitting clipper bsos. Good job!

Edit: I started an account on myspace but can't think of anything worthwhile to put in the profile. It's boring. Maybe I just write too much in this blog so I don't have anything left for another blog.

Blehch. That was my day.

I did a bunch of ss clippers in my living room. I also skooled the whirl motion on bs. I used to be able to hit it pretty consistently and now I can only hit strong 1/10 or something bad like that and I can't hit flip. I just can't get the motion.

Edit: I ordered a batch of Mr. Sandbags so I can sell them to new players in the area. Yes.

I started an account on myspace but can't think of anything worthwhile to put in the profile. It's boring. Maybe I just write too much in this blog so I don't have anything left for another blog.

Haha, but anyway, tonight I kicked downtown with Fletcher and AJ at the "secret shred spot."

There was a K9 cop car that pulled up and just parked right next to where we were kicking. Then about 10 min. later another car came and parked. The four officers went into the candy shop and got ice cream, then came outside and talked with each other while watching us play.

Someday I'll get AJ on this forum, someday he'll have a blog and he'll love it.

...or not.

Fletcher seemed to have a good session. I don't remember what I gave him props for besides one specific string, but I know I did a few times. I hit ripwalk a few times on both sides, but not in a string. I skooled my drifters a ton and I hit a lot on both sides. AJ worked on whirls on both sides and hit several. He also did a lot of skooling on his drifters. It was a fun night, lots of laughing as usual.

I respect stepping into a circle of people who just want to shred and not talk, but it's really nice being able to mix in (a little) conversation in casual circles. It's a good way to bond with people and it keeps me from getting frustrated when I'm not doing well. I also enjoy that it's comfortable enough that I can compliment someone on something without having it be the one thing that was said in the last 5 minutes. I don't feel very strongly about this, and I don't feel uncomfortable in the less talkative circle. It's just fun to think about this stuff when observing the different dynamics of different circles.

Friday. My day had a rocky start but ended very well. Paranoid session with AJ and Jeremy at the post office: great lighting and occasional on-lookers getting mail from their P.O. boxes. AJ worked on drifters and stepping but then he left early. I hit pixie legover at least 10 times (first time hitting flip, I think), and a few times back to back, pixie osis (flip pixie side only), smear bsos (first time hitting flip, I think), blurry pickup first time bs, and Magellan strong side. I hit pixie butterfly from a legover and it felt so easy. And I tried paradon for the first time and footed it once, but it was pure fluke. That move is way too hard for me to hit right now but it was fun feeling what the motions felt like. It was a long session of me trying things over and over again. I felt like my body was keeping up with my mind.

I loved feeling like stopping because my feet were getting tired instead of something else getting sore. Today made me feel like skooling more to gain new skills and really own the stuff I can hit some/most of the time. I feel good.

Edit: Who likes candy? Who likes dressing up? Who likes walking around downtown with all the crazies?!? I do! Tomorrow night is going to be so fun.

keep it up it gets easier real quick. The movement comes very smooth w/ just a little practice

...

plus I don't see any girls hitting paradons or moves of that nature; so in the words of Tom.. "DO IT!"

Are you implying that no girls do, or you just haven't seen them doing it?

Aww yeah. Whenever I say/hear "do it" I think of Tom saying it.

I just started a real web blog so maybe I’ll put less of my “daily life” junk in here. But I love my footblog and I don't want to take my personality out of my posts in here. I get to say whatever I want to say and know that it’s not off-topic. I can mix footbag talk with life stuff.

Woke up late and went to the park to freestyle with Jeremy, Fletcher, and AJ. Jacob joined came later and played. I worked on flip illusions for a bit. Man, my brain is so fried that I honestly don’t remember what else I tried to work on but I know I didn't feel good about myself while/after playing. After the session I tried plo about 30 times on each side. I got it a handful of times on both sides.

I waited two days to make this post and I can’t even think well enough to find anything to say.

Way to tell me that the dates were a day off, people.

Today I went and got my first epidural. I admit that I was a little intimidated. It didn't help that the controller of the universe decided to make fun of me by randomly showing a video of a pregnant woman getting an epidural during the class I was in right before I went to the Dr. She was screaming and in pain- from labor, but still. How does timing like that happen?

The guy who took me into the room for the procedure made all the difference in how I felt. He didn't baby me but he casually answered the few questions that I had and I felt a lot better. It was nice that he sat down next to me and that I felt like he wasn't in a hurry and that he didn't have anywhere else to be. The Dr. walked in and it took him a few minutes to figure out why I had a white fluffy tail. He had forgotten that today is Halloween and I wasn't wearing my ears, so I understood. I had a topical anesthetic and two injections of anesthetic. Then the Dr. left the needle in my back and took an x-ray to see that it was in the right place. It was neat being able to see the same x-ray the Dr. was looking at while I was laying there. Nothing hurt, but the sensation of him dispensing the cortisone was weird because as he was doing it, I felt pressure all over my hips and I felt the nerves the lower half of my tingling from the cortisone because it was injected right next to those nerves in my back. It was neat feeling the insides of my legs for a short time. The procedure including numbing the area and x-rays lasted for about 25 minutes which went by quickly.

Here's the other stuff from the weekend:
10/30/05 Just got home. 7:43 am on Sunday morning. Halloween has been and will always be my favorite holiday. VIP wrist bands baby! We had access to the VIP room since I was there with a DJ who spun and the person running it likes me.

I was a cute bunny (as opposed to a sexy bunny), Jennie was the St. Pauli Girl, and Jason was a fuzzy puppy. There was a guy who was impressed with me as a bunny because I bunny hopped around the dance floor all night. I was so glad I put TWO pairs of insoles in the fuzzy slippers I wore. Freestyle and net tomorrow (today) might not happen for me.

Forget the "other blog" idea. I opened the account but it's not going to happen. I like writing in here too much and the people I would invite to view my blog would mostly be footbaggers anyway. I say once again, I love Halloween. Wowzers, I just had the best Halloween I've ever had. Ever.

It's going to be hard to adjust to normal shoes after wearing those super comfortable bunny slippers for three days almost continuously.

Yesterday I thought it would have been way better to be the Easter Bunny instead of just a normal one. Jennie told me she had some plastic Easter eggs in the kitchen cubbard and the thrift store today had a super Easter basket so I got lots of candy and it in the eggs along with a fortune.

I was a hit. I also had non-egged candy in there to give to people. There was a dance alley that some people had set up. The DJ was spinning Spin Spin Sugar when we got there and the vibe there was electric. I hopped as dancing again. People loved it and it was so great for my calves. People LOVED that I was the Easter Bunny. And my makeup was better tonight than it was in the picture in the last post. I met up with Fletcher then Mike and we walked all up and down the street which was packed. Packed as in you couldn’t move at times but you were still trying desperately, though you had no set destination. My favorite costume was the giant Wendy’s chilli bowl with a giant finger sticking out of it that the man wiggled around. I started my evening about 8:30pm and ended it at 3:30am. At 1:45am Mike and I left so I could restock my candy/eggs, but when we came back everything was closing down. We took a walk up and down the street and there were less of them out there, but there were still plenty of crazies around to encounter.

This was posted by Jeremy today.

Today I played a little with Fletcher and Mike R.. I liked doing toe set ss buggerfly>far legover rpt. Mike tried kicks and toe stalls... but he wasn't wearing shoes...

so it was hard for him to do well. But he picked up a sandbag from me. The lights went out at the tennis courts so the session ended way early.

Matt Marks met me downtown. I saw the new Sandblasters he recently got as birthday presents and I felt kind of bad for not knowing that I missed his b-day. He informed me that he is gracious enough to accept gifts for up to a year

so I gave him a sandbag for his birthday. He was so happy! AJ came for a bit but left b/c he was hungry and cold. Matt and I decided that the session would revolve around him so he worked on toe stalls and tried clipper which wasn't working well. So he tried drilling inside stalls and went from barely being able to hit 3 to being able to hit 7 and 8 consistently and got 10 once too. He was very excited. Clipper was way easier after that.

I like the new fliers that came with the sandbags.

Edit: I like bugger better anyway.

There were 7 people stabbed last night downtown during the Halloween celebration. SEVEN.

The reason for this post is to give an update on my health. I already told you that I got the shot in my back on Monday. Yesterday I played footbag and had no pain, my legs were just shot from the two all night parties withing two days of each other. But after kicking last night, when I got home my right leg (the one that hadn't had trouble with) was all tingly like a pocket of cortisone had just been released onto the nerve again. It was definitely not normal, but not anything to worry about. I usually feel very tight in the morning when I wake up and am usually very aware of it as I'm getting out of bed. Today I have no symptoms at all. I can bend down forward at the hip a lot more than I could have last week (though I still shouldn't try to stretch that too much) and I can bend backwards a little bit more than I could (I could barely lean back at all without discomfort) and now have no pain/pressure while doing it. I am SO glad I finally got the MRI and found the problem. I'm glad that footbag wasn't the cause. I'm glad to know that a lot of the many injuries I've gotten over the course of my life (which mostly happened on that left side of my body) are related to the back problem any my body trying to compensate for it in very small ways. I am so glad I got this shot. I guess I don't get my handicap placard now.

*Note* This shot is not definitely a permanent fix. I have another one scheduled in three weeks which I won't need if I still don't have any pain/tightness by then. We're going to do up to three shots to see if it puts junk back into place enough to stop the irritation and pinching of the nerve. Even if the shots work, stuff won't be back in place all the way. Then only way for that to happen would be surgery which I'm not willing to do, especially after seeing the statistics of how many people came out better, the same, and worse after back surgery. I'm not naive enough to think that the problem is solved, I'm just being positive and enjoying my body again.

Edit: Showing a footbag video to a non-footbag friend is rare for me to do...

His response: "for real, i'm very impressed. and i think a sports bra might keep your chachas in place while your doing your thang, but that's just me."

I've worn them but they're uncomfortable (I feel claustrophobic) and I feel like I can't breathe. But if it's the first (2nd, 3rd, 4th,...) thing someone notices when I'm playing, I'll work on it.

Solo session in honor of CIC and ERIK CHAN.

I skooled pixie pickup and pixie butterfly and hit them on both sides, also pixie legover which I hit many times on both sides and a few times bsos. I also drilled butterfly>pickup rpt.

I felt really really good. My pixie sets are really getting there.
