^^^Haha if you asked me my record a couple days ago, it still only would've been like 6 or 7 on flipside and 5 on strongside  But the last time I tried for a record was probably september. And I was feeling a tad adventurous yesterday. And thanks on the props.

TODAY was a diesel session.

Highlights:

- ripwalk > blur > parkwalk > rpt
- vortex bsos in a 20 contact guiltless run 8)
- bigwalk bs (many unclean, but a few clean)
- a most likely unclean surge on one side
- bigwalk > ps whirl 8)
- and my usual 6 10+ guiltless runs

mad weird. I wish Kevin Lassar posted here more so I could confirm this better but I was just trying bigwalk last night. If you were trying to hit rubberman or double blender today you are officially my footbag nemesis.

Good shit though, bigwalk>psw is dank and vortex bsos is ill too.

What's bigwalk?

Kevin: haha that is a tad weird, but no worries, I didn't try either of those today. In fact, I've never tried a double blender thus far, so no worries. But I'll be your nemesis if you want, sounds fun lol.

Reid: bigwalk is gyro ripwalk or surging butterfly

Decent session today. Had highlights that made me happy, but a few of them took longer than they should have.

Highlights:

- Osis > gyro osis > rpt x2
- Ducking osis > gyro clipper > rpt > string
- Smog
- Ducking infinity > whirl x3 > rpt
- Osis > drifter > drifter > rpt > string (challenge completed)
- 8 10+ contact guiltless strings (new quota I guess)

So hungry......

Last time I kicked was on tuesday with Drew, Benny, and Will T. It was a fun session until we got kicked out . I was really liking my strings towards the end of the session (one of which was my new guiltless record of 24 :) ). Also because of being kicked out, I was only able to get to 6 10+ contact good strings instead of the quota of 8 I set on monday. Oh well. This has just been a busy week for me school-wise, and I turned 19 on thursday. So I've really had zero time to kick sadly.

BUT, the awesome news is that for my birthday, my parents are going to get me the plane ticket to worlds :D

Now I just have to do everything in my power to get off of work for it. Why must one of the busiest parts of the summer for my work be that week?? But, as of right now, I'm going 8)

Randomly got the urge to try barefoot TATWs in my room yesterday. Came pretty close trying my natural o-i direction while affirming I didn't actually fluke it back in december trying it i-o. I really did just flick it back onto my foot after it hit the ground while trying the third dex. Oh well. Moral of the story: I strained my leg a bit lol. Way to be John.

Anyway

Kicked with Drew and Will tonight. Took everything a bit slower due to my leg and the sad fact that I hadn't kicked since last tuesday (It was feeling soooooo good kicking 5 times a week :( ). At least it wasn't a horrible session by any means. I only got 3 10+ contact guiltless strings, but I wasn't trying too/as hard for it. I did hit stuff like:

-sidewalk > infinity > rpt x2 to a run
-DSO > symp mirage > rpt (think I've done this before)
-lots of zooming

The first two and most of the zooming were all first tries to my recollection.

Hopefully I'll kick again tomorrow, but I should see how my leg is feeling, and I have to go shadow a tour as training for the Student Ambassadors on campus so we'll see.

Now to eat a devil dog.

edit: I just remembered I hit toe set motion bs lol. That my good sir, is a fun feeling move. And I actually had two devil dogs, not one.

I was able to get myself to kick. It was hard to get the motivation to today, but it all worked out.

Highlights:

- osis > spinning clipper x3 > rpt
- drifter > spinning clipper > rpt (haven't done this in sooooo long. and when I did, I think I started on the spinning clippers, making it easier)
- near DLO > DLO > ss butter > rpt
- sidewalk > barrage bs
- stepping far osis > ripwalk > rpt (challenge completed)
- 8 10+ contacts guiltless string quota

I love having a 6:30 PM 3 hour class.........not. Except I signed up for it willingly so I shouldn't complain lol

Now to eat a cannoli 8)

Bob, thanks for the offer. I'd love to take you up on that. Sadly, it might have to wait until I'm out of school. I don't have a car up at school with me :( But I'd definitely be willing to make the drive sometime.

Kicked on thursday for a half hour just to get the bag on my feet. I didn't have all the time in the world cause I was doing laundry, but it was good enough. I basically did an extended warmup. Got a very good sweat going at least. Hit infinity > ss butter > rpt like 5 or 6 times through. Never did that before lol. Also randomly got osis > far osis > rpt like 3 or 4 times through, which never happens. It was nice lol

Kicked today (saturday) for around 2 hours I think. Got through my warm up and such and such and blah, blah, blah.

Then

I worked on my routine for worlds, and I guess anywhere else I go in the summer lol. In the past, I've always made the mistake of barely giving myself time to work on my routines, always leaving gaps in performances. Now, I'm giving myself 5 months 8) I made my song using the all-powerful garageband application. I really like the way it turned out. No major changes, just enough to make the song long enough. Good times. I do have a pretty good idea of how the routine is going to go though. That makes me happy. I'll probably work on it like every 3 sessions for now. We'll see how far that takes me in the time being.

I also learned I could hit fs legbeater somewhere in the mix. Fun.

Yup yup yup.

Kicked again for a hour and 45 minutes I think. Had its highs and lows, meaning I was a little more frustrated than usual. Ended well enough though

Highlights:

- near dlo and toe dlo both bsos
- eggbeater bsos a couple times
- footed pdx drifter bsos (really have to work on these)
- pixie ss osis bsos in a long run (not hard, just something I don't usually do)
- fs toe blur bs
- like two or three 20 contact guiltless runs
- my usual 8 10+ guiltless strings

I really like setting the quota of guiltless strings per session. It's alway something to work towards. Whenever I'm only at 3 and I'm feeling tired, I don't know how I can reach 8. This is like every session. But, each of those sessions, when I do hit that 8th string, it feels so so good. I remember towards the end of the fall when my quota was only 3 strings, and how I felt good getting that third string. I'm happy with my progress thus far, but I have to keep pushing further. You can only be happy with yourself for so long, right?

And on another note, I've really been liking symposium sets lately. I didn't even realize the trend until I hit fs toe blur bs. After hitting fs legbeater yesterday (only on one side :( ), and doing pogo sets (bs and bsos) for the past couple weeks, I realized what I was doing. Symposium is probably my favorite concept, and probably always has been. I was so psyched when I first hit symp mirage, and now I finally did it as the set lol. Yay.

Kicked tuesday with Drew and Will. That was an alright session. Took me a really long time to get my 8 strings, but whatever. There were 1 or 2 highlights I wanted to mention, but can't quite remember. Maybe one of them was the lame bsosing of far symp rev whirling rake. Who knows lol.

Kicked last night around 9 ish while waiting for my friends to come visit my me and my roommate. I mostly just worked on sets and such. I wasn't counting 10+ contact strings for the sake of the quota, but I ended up with 4 I think. Counting contacts is just kinda natural for me now lol. It was a decent session though. I've really made progress on my atomic sets, even though flipside is a bit different from strongside, but oh well.

At least I got to play for that small amount of time still

Just kicked from 1:40 AM to 3 AM. Good times. I wanted to blog about it now at 3:38 before I forgot any of the

Highlights:

- sidewalk > ripwalk > rpt and smear > plo > rpt in the same string
- dlo > dimwalk bsos
- spinning pdx mirage bsos with a spinning pdx illusion (dropped that bsos)
- the usual 8 10+ contact guiltless strings

I felt like I was playing well even though it took a bit to get all 8 strings. I felt good..... just with a lot of 7-9 contact strings lol.

I'm very glad I talked to someone earlier who helped put things into perspective for me. I needed it lol.

Goodnight
.

.
Finally

Edit:

Technically just had my second session of the day. I didn't feel like making a whole new post for it. The session was only an hour long. It was a bit of a rough one. Only got to 4 guiltless strings over 10 contacts before I succumbed to the pain in my legs lol. I'll either take tomorrow off or do a simple session at some point. I might be out of shorts, so I have to do laundry also. We'll see

Randomly decided at 3 AM to go into the city today to kick with NYFA (Dave Beyers, Ben Cooke, Waylon, and Drew). I took a pretty early train so I decided to try my luck at walking to Union Square instead of cabbing it today. Had to double check on my phone what streets it was at, but I was already well on track to getting to it. So that was a fun walk considering I've never trekked that distance alone before (even though it's not a huge walk).

The session was a lot of fun. It was so so so so so nice to kick outdoors. So nice. My shins never gave me too much pain, but I was clearly able to feel them. I still got my 8 strings regardless. On a side note, I think today would mark my first time playing 6 of 7 days in a row. I thought I'd be in a lot more pain today, given yesterdays session, but luckily it wasn't so bad.

Afterwards, we all went and got ramen. I don't even remember what I got was called but it was so good. Yum. (and happy birthday Dave!)

Finally, I was able to walk back to Penn Station with a few minutes to spare. Good times.

Kicked for the first time since saturday. Heavy amounts of school work this week. I guess that's what we get for it being the week before spring break.

Highlights:

- osis > spinning clipper > rpt x3
- gyro butterfly bsos
- gyro osis amd spinning osis both bsos
- spinning pdx mirage and spinning pdx illusion both bsos with a merkon
- tapdown bsos
- slapdown bsos
- legbeater bsos with a tripwalk
- downtime paradon bsos
- two barflies each side (not barfly x2)(first times finally finally finally hitting it flispide)

I decided to not count contacts today. And as a result, I had a really happy/good session. I really wonder which way is more beneficial. Maybe I'll start a topic asking everyone. Idk. One of my other main reasons for not counting today was to work on breathing. I honestly don't know if I made progress or not but I'll keep this up as a test.

I still subconsciously counted many of my strings so I actually know I got at least 8 10+ contact guiltless. But it wasn't on purpose!

Kicked thursday night with Will and Drew and today/last night (whatever time of day you wish to declare it).

Group session was pretty fun. Was still trying to not count contacts but inevitably did on many strings. Hit some fun combos like spinning pdx illusion > slapdown while bsosing the spinning illusion but not the combo, but whatevs. It still felt cool as....ice..? Yeah. Oh yeah, and I hit blurriest. Yay. Yay.

Today's session was mainly just routine practice. Hit a drill before moving to routines. Nothing crazy, just a basics enforcer: toe ss butterfly > ss butterfly > osis > gyro osis > pdx mirage > symp mirage > rpt. It did actually take just a tad longer to hit than I had expected but oh well.

On a different note, sometimes I wish I started footbag earlier just for the sake of being able to see more videos and know more about certain players. It just feels like I've missed so much, considering I first saw the modest mouse video with Lon Smith two months after Worlds in Disney. One player who I really wish I could've seen / could see more of is Felix. I want to surge like him. It's so freaking G. Oh well. Luckily, there are other footbaggers who are thankfully kind enough to share certain videos from their collections.

And

Spring break just started. Hopefully I'll enjoy a week of relaxing and footbag. I do however have to go to my summer place of employment to let them know I'll be returning. But, I will have to let them know I won't be able to work the weekend that you're not allowed to take off. It's not my fault my plane ticket has already been bought and my hotel for worlds booked

It was rainy outside today so I decided to have a mainly socks session. I make too much commotion in my house when I footbag with shoes on (even though I gave in and threw them on at the end). I hit 8 triple dex's today, unless you don't count each side as a separate one. If that be the case, I only hit 5. And they are all on crappy webcam footage for your enjoyment. I also threw toe motion bs in there as well as a fearless link.

Hopefully real sessions with a real camera with real strings later to come this week.

edit: here's a vimeo link too:

I originally wasn't going to post about my session tonight until my next session, but it felt too good to not write about, even if the highlights don't seem crazy.

So the goal for tonight's session and my future sessions involved a very different warm up suggested by Matt Kemmer. Dude, it's sooo tiring lol. But, that means that it's definitely a good warm up, and I could feel the difference already.

So tonight I was only planning on doing the warm up cause I was doing it in my living room and I figured family would come home and I'd be booted and so on and so forth. Luckily I was never booted, and I even went on to work on strings after the drilling.

Highlights:

- Longest guiltless string thus far of 28 contacts
- another one of 24
- several 15's
- a couple others in the that range. can't remember them lol.
- swirl bsos (it's been way too long since I last did that)
- some other things that I no longer remember even though I was posting now to in fact remember

I know. I counted contacts. It's so addicting. I can't help it. It's almost like my footbag crack. In a very weird twisted way. Yup.

I will also provide a disclaimer that my strings were not very dense or anything. Quite boppy. But hey, gotta start somewhere right?

Sick video John! Pigbeater bs surprised me, blurriest and the motions were cool and the 5>5 looked smooth too.

I wanna see pig bs (in shoes) at GRASS.

and stop worrying about counting contacts so much. If it helps you string longer who cares?
