I'm sorry about your car door. I don't think you can even tell because I found a shade of nail polish that almost matches it. :)

I never ducked for years, except to dodge shuriken attacks. I started ducking in footbag just recently, and spinning. If you ever care to do those moves, just start and you can do it. You know this prolly anyhow :D.

Thanks, Tom.

Today I played footbag with Steve G., Dustin R., and Scott ___ (don't know his last name, competed in intermediate level at CP last year, is 17 y/o). I hit ripwalk>ripwalk for the first time and I think it was just fine. Not too low, not shady from what I felt/saw. I caught it with my hand because I didn't know what to do after that because I wasn't expecting to hit it. :-) Tomorrow the three of them are coming to Santa Cruz and so is Dat. We'll do some stuff then do footbag stuff. :-) I think I'm going to play for a while in my living room now.

Dear Mody,

Ever? Maybe that would be Tom's, where everyone was posting but him. But for me, 8 left?

Strangely, my day ended with the opposite of what happened when it started. Yes, pumpkin pie helped to turn it around.

Someone gave me a piece of jewelry; a ring. But it doesn't quite fit. :|* It's definitely the thought that I'll remember.

Today Steve, Dustin, Scott, and Dat drove in. Jeremy came back early from being out of town so he came out to play footbag. Then we got bubble tea.

When playing in a group, I usually take 8 to 3 minutes to warm up, then I have an okay 10-15 min burst of good energy/ability, and then it slowly degrades for the rest of the session. I'm not sure what to do about it and I don't like that. Not being sore or burned out, but just like it's over no matter what you want to do. I don't know how long we were playing before Jeremy showed up, but when he did I felt like I was already at the point where you can still play, but you don't know if it's even worth wasting the energy. (but it's not wasting the energy and you like playing so you keep going) I didn't feel good about my part of the session, I'm sure it'll come if I start playing every day again, but I'm not sure if I can do that right now.

I had some okay tiltless runs before I got frazzled. Between yesterday and today I've hit 6 strong whirls (which I hadn't done for a while), a few strong datw's, a strong side schlumpy, and some okay ripwalks, blurs, smears mixed in with a bunch of bad ones (but good tries.:-))

I'm really happy about playing tomorrow afternoon.

There has been little to no back/leg pain these last few days. Not doing any stretching that pulls on my back at all that I can feel seems to help my back helps so much.

*This is by far my favorite emoticon. I like the way the facial expression can mean so much depending on what words it's near, and I really like that the eyebrows aren't identical. In reality no one is perfect, but I like it that way.

Tomorrow let's work on:
flip datw (both ways)
strong datw (out to in)
flip whirl
flip illusion

drifters
toe drifters

And easy drills just to see how long I can go for (and it won't be long, but eventually I'll fix that) :-)

Flip double dexes are cool and deserve alot of respect.

Flip double atw in>flip datw out is a link which is tough (I thought so anyway), but when hit you feel like all the hardwork you have done on your flipside is worthwhile.

What is your tiltless record emily?

Do you only drink water when you play? I noticed the same thing happen to me, so I started drinking Red Bull or some other energy drink along with water. Doing that keeps me going for an extra hour or two. If that's not the problem, then I dunno.

I do only drink water when I play, but I do drink a lot of it.

I was so ready to kick with people today. I called Jeremy to see what time he was planning on going to the part and he said he wasn't going to go. "Okay, AJ said he would come out for sure when I talked to him Friday." I called AJ to see what time he'd be out, but picked my words poorly: "Hey AJ. Jeremy's not coming out so I just wanted to know time you're coming." He replied, "Jeremy's not coming? Oh, well... then... I'd like to hang out with you again but if Jeremy's not going and Mike's not in town, I'm going to do HW not instead of waiting until tonight." Okay... So no Fletcher, Jeremy, or AJ. I decided to kick at the park anyway. I called the few locals who are okay hack players who like to kick with the footbaggers. No one could come out to play, but Michael said he might come by to say hi. After I decided to go anyway, I remembered that a guy from San Jose named Adam said he would drive out today. I couldn't ditch out if someone would be driving 45 minutes to kick with people.

1pm I was at the park. I was playing for only a little bit before I was dead tired. I made myself restart the session more slowly. It helped. I was playing with music on and this kid rode up on his bike and stood directly in front of me. I looked at him for a second, waited... "Hi... I'm Emily. Have I met you?" His name is Stu and he played net last week with the SC crew. He is a hacker and wanted to learn new tricks. He can do toe stalls (was much better by the end of the day), Jester (clipper kick), Super Jester (butterfly kick), inside stall, and really nice pendulums... I don't remember what he called those. I guess Nate Maertens works at the school that Stu goes to and one day came out to play in their hack circle. Nate told him about footbag.org so he looked up our club information. Then Darlene came to freestyle because no one was coming out for net. She worked on kicks and got 4 alternating and also sealed several right inside stalls, which she was very happy with. Then Angel and his friend Joel came and joined us. Angel is good with toe stalls and is working on atw's and butterflies. When we were all leaving he asked me if I'd help him with basics next week. Joel hacks well. Then Jacob came and rocked as usual. I told him that since (I think) he's the only person who does the tricks he does using his sports crutches, I think he gets to name some of the tricks that he does. He laughed and said, "Yeah, but what good is it going to do if I'm the only person who will ever do those tricks?" Jacob left and my friend Michael arrived and joined the circle. So it was a six person hack/footbag circle for most of the day. People were working on stalls more than kicks, and many of them made progress so the outcome was great. I sold a Freedom bag to Stu. I told Jennie the story and she said that it sounded like it had been a beginners seminar.

I didn't get to many of the things I wanted to try, like a bunch of different drills, but it was a fun day. I did a lot of atw>mirage>pixie and tried flip datw which I'm pretty sure I haven't ever hit. There's a reason. It's funny that the one person who I went there for, Adam (the guy from San Jose), didn't show up when so many other people who I didn't expect did. Adam sent me an e-mail shortly after 1pm saying that he couldn't make it but he'd come next week.

Another fun thing for me today was seeing this guy from one of my classes who showed up and watched me play footbag for a while. It was neat because when I tried to show off it worked (for once). :-) I had a run of 17 tiltless contacts, another okay run with butter>osis>pdx mirage>some other stuff and another run with datw and ripwalk. That was flukish. Then we went to the playground and picnic bench area and he showed me some of his bike trials stuff. He did 180 and 360 spins, went from big to little to big rocks on his back tire, hopped onto the picnic table then did a 180, and some other stuff that I don't know the name for. It was way impressive. I only knew what "trials" meant because I knew about footbag trials first. :-)

Session at Jeremy's with him and Fletcher. I did two spinning clippers. My illusions are nasty; I need to work on that. :? Overall fun session. I felt like I smiled a lot. :D I tried a new stall.

I'm using the wne laces that Dat gave me. They're oval and oh so nice. I was using round laces before which I like way better than flat. But these are better than the round. They're thick like a meaty caterpillar. I like the way they stay put and I don't have to double knot them, plus the length is just right so I don't have to tuck them in for fear of them getting caught during a run. Thanks Dat.

After the session Fletcher and I went to Spike & Mike's Sick and Twisted Animations at a midnight showing. I had never been to a Spike & Mike's before.
Oh my. 8O

Thank you Sam.:)

I haven't had the best "stuff" happening to me recently.

I'll tell you the story of my weekend in the form of a ______ children's story. It bugs me that I can't remember that word.

Saturday
-The bad news was that I killed my laptop a few weeks ago. It is likely to need the mobo replaced.
-The good news was that I have a good friend who is willing to look at it when I see him again.
-The bad news was that my car started overheating and it'll cost a little over $400 to fix.
-The good news was that my boss sent me to the guy he uses, and the guy will include an extra part for free.
-The bad new was that on Sat when I rode my bike to work in the AM, I found that my work had no power but I had to stay open anyway. No computer to print labels out, no credit card machine, and last week's employee forgot to get change for this weekend, so I only had 2 $20's and a $10, when we really only need $5's.
-The good news was that people were pretty okay about only having the option of exact cash or check, and the other employee was willing to bring me change AND surprised me with a home made smoothie.
-The bad news was that my foot started hurting with that sole splint type of thing (maybe from playing weird on Friday night?) and I had to walk up a big hill.
-The good news was that I had my bike, so I didn't have to carry the big sandwich board up and down that hill.
-The bad news was that my front tire was flat.

I got home and was alone. Out of groceries (I had planned going over the weekend but didn't have a car), I had to forage for food in my pretty empty cubbard. I had some left over frozen "Orange Chicken" flavoring so I decided to use it when making a chicken breast. DON'T TRY DO THAT IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

Sunday
-The good news was that I didn't have to open at work, Fletcher picked me up so I could watch them freestyle and play net and hang with them at the park, we met Adam from San Jose, DAT came out and stayed for dinner with Jeremy, Amelia, Fletcher, and me.

Monday
-The bad news is that it's the week before finals and I have no car or computer of my own and my foot still hurts to walk on.

The good news: is that I have such good friends who are constantly making me feel wanted even when injured (except for Dat) and feeling like a drag . I sign on Modifeid and have a new PM or two almost every day, and I live with people who I adore in the most beautiful place I could want to live right now. I am SO glad that I can keep perspective that the only bad things that are going on are with stuff, just objects I don't *really* need anyway. The money thing sucks b/c I can't buy the presents I had wanted to for people. But at least I have people not to buy presents for?

Yes.

The good news is that FREESTYLE REALITY is getting close to being done!!!!! How great will that be?? Great!

The good news is that it's less than a month until I can go back to see my family and friends, and for Chicago's NYJ!

Thank you for the comments, I appreciate them. :-)

I spent a little over an hour of very off and on playing practicing datw bs both direction. I was lucky with hitting some of them (as shown by my inability to hit them again), but I hit 1 or more for each side, each direction. I don't feel comfortable doing anything else footbag related b/c my foot is still not feeling normal. I listened to some of Jason's vinyl and liked Dido- Stoned (Deep Dish Dub and Deep Dish Vocal). I'm not a Dido fan, but I like these versions of this specific song. And I'm pretty much always a Deep Dish fan.

Finals are next week. I have my car back. My foot is feeling better. I got the 7 page research paper in. And Wed. night I found out that a guy I went to high school with died of a Heroine overdose. This is the 2nd person of that class from high school who I know has died of from an overdose from that same bastard drug. I think that's a reason finding out messed me up so much on Wednesday. He must have been 19 by now, he is always "young" in my head because when I met him he was about 13 or 14. He looked up to me for a while, thought I was cool and nice, and he was too. So he was a little brother friend.

*Important note if you ever do drugs* When you do a drug or drugs and then cut back or quit for a while, when you start doing drugs again, you have to stat with a low amount. People often die from an OD after they quit and start again because they start at the amount that they were doing at the height of their drug use before they quit. I don't know if that's what happened to this friend, but it's what happened to the other boy, whose mother walked in one morning to find her son cold and says he was "blue."

Edit: I saw the movie RIZE and I liked it.
Edit 2: While trying atw's I accidentally flug the footbag behind me and when I turned around I saw that I had hit Mowser in the FACE. Anyone who has every been to my house understands the fear I felt at that moment. But nothing happened... but I have to sleep at some point... 8O

Beatmatching is hard but I'm mixing records for the first time. :D I had two good transitions (in the last 1+hour).
