does anyone remember that I, the great Carl Winslow was briefly knighted as a mod, by i think Rob, im not really sure.
I never did anything though so its good that they took my mod status away. I think the mods are fine. it could be worse, ive seen much worse forums than this. thats really the only reason im still here is cause its a pretty good forum. I dont even kick that much anymore. but its still cool to post here just to waste time.

Like RIGHT AFTER Brad became an administrator he tried to do something to the effect of, deleting all topics with no replies that were older than a certain date or something. Instead he fucked up and deleted every post older than a certain date (and it wasn't very old - like a few months) that wasn't a poll.

It was basically akin to the burning of the Library of Alexandria.

Yes, because when historians look back on civilization 1000 years from now they are going to note that back on June 21st, 2004 unknowable amounts of information about Jani Walkers were removed from the ancient form of "online communication" known as the "web forum" www.modified.ca (later named www.modified.in). These "posts" are thought to have contained text that when arranged properly gave the power of unlimited speed and agility, not to mention verility.

How about getting over it and back on topic please.

BURN MASTER BRAD STRIKES AGAIN! Nice one  That was classic, I think I might post that in the hall of fame.

To try and stay on topic...
Everyone makes mistakes and even if a person is new to the admin position, I'm sure it's not easy. I mean, look at how long it took eric chan to re-arrange the trick tips section. If an mod tries to make a change, it's probibly for the best, and I'm sure it's not just some spur of the moment "let's try to make modified a better place with one click of a button". Besides, every topic gets discussed at least three of four times becuase someone will start a thread without looking for other threads or they won't search well enough. I doubt all that information was lost, as opposed to not availible for a year.

Just so you all know what Matt wrote up a few posts back.

He said that he was kind enough "just to let you all know" that Carl Winslow is, in fact another one of my user names and that I am coming back on to post like nothing has happened, and that makes me even worse of a person... you know, than i already am

Yeah, just so you know.

Sam,
nobody is "better" than anybody else here. Just because you've been around longer than a lot of us doesn't make you better or entitle you to "respect". Just because you've made amazing footbag videos doesn't make you better or entitle you to "respect". Respect is something that you must earn. Certainly being around for a long time and making amazing videos does this, but talking shit to people around you isn't going to make you any more popular and make anyone respect you more.

You say matter-of-factly that you are a better person because you believe in free thinking. What does it take to be a "better person"? Aren't you all about peace and saving the world? It takes a "better person" to overcome hurt feelings and to confront issues and discuss them in a mature manner with the people around you, especially those who are important to you and integral in the community that is such a big part of what defines who you are a person and a footbagger.

Try to understand that we, the moderation staff, are not trying to silence anybody or prohibit "free thinking". Try to understand that we, the footbag community, want to be open and accepting to all people and that being a healthy, accessible community (to people of all ages) is vital to this cause. Try to understand that we, the moderation staff, are trying to be flexible and understanding of the freedom of speech and that we are making an effort to modify the rules, regulations, and restrictions that currently maintain the forums.

I hope you read this Sam, and I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. I like you, but I think you are seeing this all wrong.

Sam, please try to also understand that you are only supposed to have one account. Please choose either Samurai or QuantumBalance so that I can delete the other one.

Thanks,

Sam's pointing out a mistake I made. I wrote something mean about him because I thought he was using the name carl winslow. I should have checked the IPs first. Sorry, Sam. What I wrote was the definition of "un-called-for".

Forumwide discussion of drug policy etc etc begins today. Please join in the debate in the discussion forum if you feel your views and needs are not represented on this forum.

Just to be a little clearer on what happened. When this happened Brad actually posted what he was going to do in the mod/admin forum and I responded saying something along the lines of - "well you're the admin but I think a lot of people would be pissed off if you did that". Brad ignored me of course. I didn't mention this at the time because there was nothing mentioning it could do but I think it's important to be honest when the ability of somebody administering this forum is called into question. Brad always claimed he didn't understand what was going to happen when he deleted all that stuff but the truth is that I did understand and I warned him that it wasn't going to be a popular decision. At the time I thought he understood what would happen too or I would have been a little clearer but the fact that Brad ignored the warning I issued was fairly significant - especially because he still ignores what other people say.

Good point; I agree. But then how does one gain respect when they have shown that they deserve otherwise? It must be earned.

What happens when you earn respect, yet it is not given? You realize its pointless and do whatever the fuck you want.
