so i think im startin to get the hang of this stepping set thing, hopefully my muscle memory retains it...
-ripwalk b2b
-whirl x2
-rev whirl bsos
-lots of strong 15 contact tiltless strings with osis midstring
yea usual stuff, not really worth updating, but i was just so psyched about that b2b ripwalk. I also got it bsos in another string but not b2b. Tried blur Ss (my flip blur is better) and i came sooo close to hitting it clean.
So pumped for GRASS, I'm prolly gonna play like crap but whatever, it's gonna be IN-sane... in the membrane... I wish i could make an origami crane...heh
Peace

So yea, GRASS was infreakingcredible to say the least, but before i forget i just wanna mark some stuff i worked on today.
Basically just worked osis today. I met a dude at Grass who had really fluent osii and it made me really wanna work on that part of my game so hence todays emphasis on osis. Tried osis b2b but im havin trouble with my balance so i worked on each side separatly and i think i made some progress? i hope, maybe. Anywho I hit a bunch of dynos from flip clip and one from strong clipper so that felt really sweet. But the main highlight of today was about ten minutes ago where I hit, what I believe felt like a clean dex... BLENDER. ha, yea nothing huge but it just felt so good. I mean, the set, the dex, the delay and the handcatch... what a feeling. If Im ever able to hit it agian I'll try and get it on camera and see what the community thinks.
Now, as for GRASS. I'm still in this like, footbag mesmorization. Everyone there was so nice and cool and good at footbag, it was sooo much fun. It was great just walking in and getting such an awesome greeting from Paul and Matt and Chris, they really made me feel welcomed and it made it a lot easier to stay kinda relaxed around guys like Clavens, Will Digges, Sebastian (Duschene? sorry im bad at names) and everyone.
So yea, me and Ben walked in round 1130ish and i was afraid id missed comp sign-up but luckily Paul said there was still time so I sigend up for intermediate circle and (I still dont know what prompted me to do this considering id never tried it before and hadnt prepared anything and defintly am not good enough to just make up something on the spot) sick 3. Ben didnt try anything cuz of his back surgery so he chilled and kicked with some guys. Bout ten minutes Bobby got there and he signed up for intermediate circle as well.
So after we're all signed up and evrything we do a lil warm-up shred. I got to play alongside Sebastien (dam i suck at last names), Waylon Lew, and Gordon Bevier. Sebastien and Bevier were crazy and you could tell Waylon was pretty good too but unfortantly he was sufferin from a bad ankle. I'd really like to paly with him again though when he's all healed up, he had a really cool atomic set.
After warmin up a bit, intermediate sick 3 began. Eek. Oh but right before it started Dave Clavens walked up to me and introduced himself to me. I felt paralyzed with diffidence. Here's David Clavens, this huge footbag phenomemon actually taking his time to meet me... Come to think about it, Matt Cross did the same thing at last years GRASS when I was still a hackysack noob and didnt know anything about freestyle or the people involved in it. I guess this sport just breeds humbleness... alongside awesomeness. Anywho, yea it was jsut.... words cant really describe how it felt to meet Clavens... but yea it was aweosme. Haha, I'm ramblin on about how amazing it was to meet Clavens but to be honest, it felt the same for everyone I met, it was like meeting a room full of movie stars, Ive seen a bunch of their stuff on video or jsut read about them on modified so the entire experience was just so surreal.
Anywho, onto the comp. It was cool to watch the other intermediate sick 3s, everyone hit really cool stuff. I dont remember much of it cuz i was just freakin out tryin to think of sumthin that seemed viable. I remeber seeing torques and ripwalks and just a lot of 4 and 5 adds moves and thinkin to myself i need to at least compare. So finally its my turn. I walk in front of the camera (yea the camera really helped
) my heart beating fast, my mind racing and I decide to try DATW>dimwalk>ripwalk I got thru the datw and dimwalk okay, then right before I tried ripwalk I thought "Wait, i just figured this out 2 nights ago,,," drop. I had 5 tries, and let me tell u, it was not pretty. I tried the same thing 2 more times but couldnt even make the dimwalk eventually. I just freaked out and ended up doing like smear>pixie clip>far lo. haha, looking back on it it's jsut kinda funny.
So yea, that was finally over and Bobby got in his predicted playful derision, but I ithnk he could tell how embarassed I felt and said some kinds words. it didnt matter though cuz i whooped him in the circle comp.
Yea the first round of the circle comp was awesome, I went first and at the rate I started off I didn;t think anyone else would even get a turn. I played so well in the first round with a lot of long strings and even managed to fit a rev whirl and maybe regular whirl at the end, cant remeber. Then as I watched the oterh intermediate circle comp all hope was lost... These two guys, Danny Petrick and Alex (not sure bout last name) were insane. They had such strong fluent strings, i think fear best describes how i felt about competeig against them.
Wow this is a really long post and I doubt anyone really wants to read that much so I'm gonna stop there and save the rest for another time. Ha, Im bad at summarizing stuff, I always talk too much about uninteresting things, Ill try and talk more about what other ppl hit in the next post. Til then,
Peace.

Thanx Matt, it was great seeing you too, it was awesome shredding with you on sunday, I really hope we get to play again sometime before i leave for Boston... and after of course
Anywho, hit my first 3 dex last night in socks, then several times today in lavers. drum roll.... smog! Haha. I really shouldnt be too pumped cuz i have yet to hit it midtsring and lately my strings have been really short, Im dropping on like, the fifth or sixth contact, blah! So yea, i really wanna increase my string length before I go all 4-add crazy. Aw well, footbag is fun so it shouldnt be too much of a problem.
Peace

I hope Ian reads this...
So yea, just drilled BOPs and clippers today but finally managed to hit some basic stuff that i shoulda been drillin a long time ago
-10 clippers bs
-20 clippers b2b
-clipper>osis (rpt) 15 contacts
-infinity>ss butter (rpt) 8 contacts
-ss butter x5 bs
-clipper>p mirage x20 contacts
-butter>p mirage x10 contacts
-(this ones for ian) 20 infinities
-finished w/ clipper>infinity>osis>p mirage bs
So yea, hopefully i remmebr to do more bop stuff in my game/am able to. Now off to shower, for i am ever so sweaty and am going to the lilac festival in 15 minutes.
Peace
p.s. how do i change the title of my blog, "I guess I'll start a footblog" to something else?

ahhhh, of course, its all too simple... thanx man.
So yea, lilac festival was a lot better than i thought. Basically jsut ate a bloomin onion and played hackbagsack.
It was kidna funny cuz when we first sat down to eat I saw a dude walk by in what looked like lavers so I took a 2nd look and voila! lavers! He walked by us but they wrent modded or anything so then i thought maybe he jsut played tennis or sumthin and decided to yell out "lavers!" and see if he responded, but i dont think he heard me. Either way i figured it was jstu coincidence... but it wasnt, it was only the illusion of coincedence... (v for vendetta anyone?) So yea after we ate Ian said "hey look theres some guys hackin over there" so naturally we rushed over to get in on the action and luck have it, it was the lavers guy and a friend of his. I jstu thought it was kinda funny.
So yea, when we walked up them they were playin w/ a sandmaster (how nostalgic) and the dude in lavers was ur average circle kicker, still fun tho. Actually, his friend wasnt too bad, he had skate shoes on and could do a lot of stalls and atw kick. He actually managed to hit a stole stall, heel stall and top of the toe stall.
Eventually the circle grew into about 12 or so hackysackers and it was a lot of fun. We got so many comments from onlookers (specifically Ian and me). It's so cool to be able to actually hit a 10 contact tiltless string somewhat effortlessly and look like a hackysack god to the norms.
I'm so happy im workin osis into my strings. Everytime i hit one i could hear peeple around me just gasp and make a ruckus. Its such an amzing feeling when ppl r actually impressed by footbag rather than laughing at it disparagingly and telling u ur not allowed to do that on such premises...
In fact one girl was apparently taking a video so I decided to try and bust a long string w/ bops, ducking, and a whirl or sumtihn. Afterwards she came up and told us how cool it looked and that she was prolly gonna post the video of us on youtube, so I'm gonna be on the lookout for "hackysack kids at lilac festival" or sumthin to that effect in the near future.
So yea that was my night, I doubt anyone'll wanna read all of it but meh, it'll be cool to re-read that one day after I become a world class champion and take 1st at worlds
Haha, i couldnt even type that w/out smiling.
Peace.

Havnt played since friday or so. Feel like crap w/ a fever of about 102 but I prety much just watched footbag videos all day today cuz i finally downloaded a program capable of playing wmvs so that kinda made me yearn to play.
Didn't really do much, just some atws and osis crap. Hit a pxie muted ss osis strong prety conistently and footed it 2x flip. Then at the end (yea only messed around for about 10 minutes) i hit frigidosis>ss osis and that felt INCREDIBLE. Such a cool looking combo. I've seen Clavens hit it a bunch of times in videos and point at the bag inbewteem the two spins so I gave it a whirl and finally managed to add that lil bit of icing on the cake to the mix.
So yea, really wanna play, but feel so god dam drained, hopefully im more energized tommorow. (Sry, dont mean to come off so complaintive, I know theres lots of others guys in worse condition than myself and I hope they all heal quickly as well)
Peace.

Been sick for a while, fever high of like 105 or sumthin, idk the thermometer only went up to 104.
Anywho, been surfin modified SOO much recently due to my virus, looked at trick tips forum for the first time and am going crazy wanting to try some new stuff. In fact I did try some new stuff, but only in socks. For example:
-tripwalk
-eggbeater
-pigbeater
So yea, I'm mad happy about those. I also tried atomic...AGAIN. and as usual, failed... AGAIN. I hate atomic set....
Alright fine, I dont hate it. In fact, I tihnk its a really sweet set. Im just pissed cuz i cant do it.
Yea, so thats where I've been at recently, hopefully this stupid virus rolls over by the weekend, Im just itchin to play some footybag.
Peace.

So yea, finally feelin well enuff to play for more than 10 minutes, bout an hr actually
basic highlights:
-lots o infinities
-torque>infinity>osis>handcatch
-soooo close to legbeater, rolled off foot innumerable times
-tripwalk bs
-nallegam>magellan (yea rando fairy set just clicked, but hey, i'll take it)
-magellan>plo (rpt) starting from bs
-butter>whirl>infinity>whirl
-butter>rev whirl>infinity>rev whirl
-spinning clipper bs
-ripwalk bsos
-blur bs
Im sure ther was some other stuff but i dont remember. Yea my string length was junky but I was pretty much just tryin new techniques after goin a week w/out any shred and surfin modified all day.
Oh yea, also while in socks i got fear, fudge, eggbeater, and gyro legover. Now I jsut gotta try this stuff in shoes and bs. Ahh, its good to be back.
Peace

Thanx Matt, unfortantly I dont think I'll be able to make it to Montreal as next week is my last week of skool and I gotta study for exams
Hopefully there will be much shredding this summer w/ the rfa as long as every1s schedle permits, I really wanna play w/ everyone again.
Anywho, just played for bout half an hr or so, didnt get much cept for
-osis>ss butter (rpt) 8 contacts
meh, I think I can do better
-ripwalk>dyno (footed dyno on flip)
-alpine plo (footed flip)
-almost apline magellan
And of course there was some rando spinning where I just flailed around after I spin cuz I lose balance.
Idk, I sorta understand spinning bt I can only do stff out of it when Im in socks, when I pt on shoes it seems like I jst gain way too much momentm and lose my footing. Prolly just some mental thing, aw well.
Peace

Thanx Pete... is it cool if I call you Pete? I'm bad at knowing apropriateness of first name basis...
Anywho, had a good 3 hr 20 min session. Worked on so much stuff. Started off with a 50 contact tiltless string... of all legovers.
Yea I wish i could hit a genuine 50 contact tiltless... maybe one day. Let's see, did a bunch of mirages, illusions, pixies, and clippers to warm up. Did some cool drills like:
-osis>butter (rpt)
-osis>infintiy>infinity (rpt)
-ss butter x 10 bs (dropped once on each side
)
Hmm, idk, there was some other junk but i dont remember, I got bored of drilling midway and decided to just shred a lil. Lots of 15+ contact tiltless + bop strings. Longest one was like 28 contacts I tihnk.
O Yea! I tried swirl and managed to hit osis>swirl (footed flip) Then got osis>swirl>osis>drop flip swirl. I think I saw Matt Cross utilizing this component a lot in one of his vids and I just thought it looked mad stylie. (Then again what doesnt look stylie from Matt Cross?) So yea, I really wanna remmebr to try and drill swirl some more.
Hmm, messed around w/ stepping set a lil and managed:
-ripwalk (rpt) again, hoorah!
Haha, yea, its nuthin huge but I friggin love ripwalk, it jsut looks so ballin. In fact I managed DATW>dimwalk>ripwalk (sound familiar? yeah thats what I failed miserably at at grass, aw well) and also dimwalk>ripwalk>dyno, and that ripwalk>dyno segment was jsut soooo friggin sweet.
Oh, and also, torque midstring
Rando tangent: theres like 5 or 6 songs on this stupid album Im listeing to that I cant tell whethor or not theyre messed up or supposed to sound the way they do and its mad annoying. Aw well, still a cool band. "Arrogant Sons of Bitches", anyone?
Annnnyway, I pretty much posted my session in the order I did stuff, (I know im forgetting stuff, but meh, post is long enuff already) and so i figured Id save this lil bit for last. At the end of the session I came sooooooooo ridiculously close to osis>far osis (rpt). I got it BSOS but I just couldnt get the god dam rpt, i musta footed it twice and eveytime I got the 3rd contact in the link i got so excited and messed up the easiest part. SO frsutrting.
Meh, guess it just leaves sumthin for me to work on tommorow
. Now I am off to shower and hang out w/ friends.
Peace

Peace

played w/ Ian for bout 1.5 hrs. Didnt do much, mad tired from yesterday/lil sleep, but still fun to play. It seems like Ians progressing fairly well, I really wanna see him hit clippers more effortlessly, he has so much potential once his solidifes his foundation. He's definitly going about playing the right way tho, just workin basics and not add hunting like im sorta doing right now
. Meh, im not goin crazy or anything, I just keep tryin to incorprate bigger stuff midplay like ripwalk, and torque.
...Actually, come to think of it, Im not that much of an add hunter. Lately ive just been workin bops and whirls and then trying to put dimwalk and parkwalk bs into my strings... haha, idk, im contradictive. I guess I just wish I had longer stronger more genuine strings is all... Yeah, thats what I should work on next time rather than drills.
Oh! Now i remember why i wanted to post in here. I managed to hit that drill form yesterday to end my session today.
-osis>far (symple?) osis (rpt)
-also osis>spinning clipper bs
I managed a bunch of other stuff, but nothing new really, just new variations of junk I can already do.
Peace
