Actually, at Mt. Sinai all the people became the Jewish nation. At that point everyone became a Jew and all of Judaism gets passed down by the mother. So if by your standards, my standards, and Jesus standards he was not a Jew, how is it possible that he be the Messiah for the Jews? Maybe he's a messiah, but he's certainly not one of the Jews if he's not even a Jew. That makes no sense at all.
