At the next session, we should work on gathering some footbage for profile videos. . perhaps?

And speaking of which. I don't know what's going on with me. Not playing seriously for a while has definitely made me slow. Yeah those new tricks I hit? No more. I can't even do double atw's anymore and I had been getting relatively consistant with those buggers. It's like if I do well with one aspect of the game, another large part runs off and joins the circus somewhere in Alabama. Well actually I'm just talking about blurs and smears. I can hit drifters and sidewalks pretty easily now. But still. The blur and the smear were the two that I really wanted to hit . . more than once.

surprisingly still looking forward to the kick till you're sick even with this low self-esteem.

OK! it must be done. huge session tomorrow (friday) at Nazareth. around 1 or 2? Ya'll let me know. i'm free from 12-6, but i have no transportation. on a side note my car blew up

edit: i have to add that i've neglected footbag all this week. i've been so busy doing work for classes i haven't found any time to kick. so lets play hard tomorrow to make up for lost time

Shread at Nazareth 2 pm!!! WE ALL NEED TO BE THERE! Some one should bring a camera to take pics for our site, I've gotten wayyyy too many complaints that I haven't updated it, so lets get some pics, maybe a vid or 2, and the profiles up. Big session tomorrow hopefully outside if the weather is nice, but considering its Roch. its gunna be an inside session almost guaranteed... Steve I'll drive if Shady, Tom, Matt, etc.. can't make it. My van should be able to make it

short outside session just now in my old darryl'd lavers and some cut off dickies pants. I hit inspinning osis on my strong side and rev swirling blender a few times on my flipside. Barraging set is starting to make a little more sense to me. it's like going for a really fast whirl and then a hard pixie motion. fun times...

i want climacools. does anyone know where I can get them for a reasonable price?

awesome session today.

it's getting really cold out, but today it was still tolerable for a few hours. it was pretty comfortable, once I got going. early in the session, I hit pixie symp paradon on my second try. Then I worked on uptime flails. not really a set, just to get vasek style symp eggbeaters. I hit them on both sides. most of the middle of the session was working on strings. Spinning moves and some ducking stuff is starting to fit in. Near the end of the session, I hit swirling twirl on both sides, and a few more atomic twirls on one side. i think I'll get it on my flipside soon, but I got too tired tonight. I also hit a few more nuclear sets. chris dean suggested the other day that I set straight up while turning my shoulders towards the set right before the dex, and that advice has really been helping me get the set both sides. it's eluded me for so long, it's comforting to get it. oh, and I also hit my first barraging sets that had the bag still rising after the second dex, and i hit a bunch of legit jani walkers. that was SO satisfying. let me say it again. SO satisfying. It really helped me to watch Kenzo from Japan do his sets because of how dramatic his knee movement is. I emulated that same motion, and it tightened my set up a lot. Thanks Kenzo.

what else... diving whirl BSOS and then tomahawk (without plant) BSOS. symp bubba BSOS. first spinning rakes both sides.

fun session. Aric and Steve and others were there. They also played well. Maybe they'll tell us what they hit...

Awesome stuff!! It's been too long since we got to see a Rochester video, nevermind a Matthew Cross video!!! Props on everything. Especially Pixie dolomite swirl and hatchet and tomoahawk beesauce (all 4 tricks one run, right???) I am about to have a bath for the first time since I put your anklet on and I am afraid it will get all tight on my ankle and hurt. Wish me luck!

good luck in your bath. i think it will probably make your anklet softer and looser. glad you like it

which ankle is it on? do you like the songs on the CD?

Sup dudes. Hey I had a quick question and I didn't really want to IM any of you. I also would just feel really cool - I mean kewl - to ask this on a forum. .

If I were to hit blizzard > double over down > osis
would that be 11 adds and 3 contacts? I've never been sure of how they do those adds and contacts in a string. I mean I know what contacts and adds are but I just don't know how to add them. .

Oh and Scowt is feeling really good. I'm liking the BBs in it. I filled it just enough for me and I'm going to shred with Greg today when he comes up to Nazareth and I'm going to force him to use it even though he only really likes sandbags. But he can go to hell since I like Scowt and I'll probably use it in the competition.

PS: Getting my car at some point today - huzzah!

From my understanding its an 11 add 3 contact string. But it could also be 11 adds and 4 contact because there the string is actually clipper > blizzard > dod > osis, but IMO the clipper doesn't count if its at the very beginning of a string.

An ok session with steve, danner, andrew, and greg for syracuse. Nothing all that great to talk about. Came close to my first eggbeater, might actually hit one eventually. Had a nice string that start with diving clipper > ducking clipper(rpt) > ducking pdx mirage > butterfly > butterfly > ducking pdx mirage > run of some sort maybe darkwalk in there somewhere. At the end of the session we took some video, and eventually i'll have that posted on our site. http://www.rit.edu/~arm2318/imm/RITFA/ . Me and steve are the only that got filmed and we were both tired so nothing big.

darkshredder (you're pat, right?), counting adds in a string is straightforward. It's just the total number of adds from all your moves, and contacts is just the number of tricks you did. So you're right, blizzard>dod>osis is 11 adds 3 contacts (or 13 adds 4 contacts if you count the clipper, but usually people ignore the first delay in a string).

I haven't hit anything special in the last couple of days, just working on lengthening my strings.

...sunday session, anyone?

I couldn't make the session this day but I had a short session with greg in the lounge and had some fun with that. I had a nice long string with butterflies tied to far side osis es.

After, I had to do this awful run crew meeting for a play I have to be a part of. I was lightly kicking in the dressing room (meh). . and I came ridiculously close to smudge again. I was playing with scowt this time and I love it. My pixies come so easily and they're set so nicely. This is good since I was hoping to finish up my run at the Kick till you're sick with a parkwalk and a smear. But if I can hit smudge before then (and I will) then I think I'll do something like smear > smudge repeat. I'm trying to think of what it'll look like and I've decided it'd be relatively impressive for a novice but it's not stylish at all.. . . Not usually my style.

I'm good for a session on sunday. Just make sure it's around noonish or maybe a little later. I have another play meeting late afternoon and I really want to kick again in a large group.

Is anyone interested in a Rochester Footbag Assoc. Sweatshirt? or generally-themed footbag sweatshirt? I just made friends with people who have a screen printing shop, and told me we could probably have 10 pullover hoodies made for $20 each or so. Post ideas for awesome sweatshirts if you have them, and we can decide as a group what we want to get, if there's interest.

I think it would be cool if we had a rad Rochester-themed logo / label on the front, hopefully something artsy but simple enough to do with one color (probably white on blue or something) and designed by someone in the club. Can anyone draw a tripped-out 32 panel footbag? Do we want it just on the breast, or covering the whole front? maybe have it covering the back? if we put it on the front, I'd just like to have "NEVER GIVE UP" in block Varsity-style letters on the back shoulder with Rochester Footbag Association in smaller letters under it.

Let's get some ideas tossed around, this would be a cheap, awesome way to represent our club, and sweatshirts are cool.

Sunday at 1 at Naz works for me. Someone bring a still camera so we can get our pictures up on the RITFA page. Pat, is your DV cam working?

I could draw a nice 32-panel for the shirt. I drew a really nice picture of scowt one day while I was hating french class. It's real nice. I could do it again definitely and I'll mod it a little to make it look a little more worn than an abshire mini because you know. . um. We like them broken in.

Yeah now that I have my car I can go home real quick this weekend and grab the charger and go. It'll be all set and ready and up to the job and the green light is on and the flags have been raised and the guns have been fired and the candles have been lit and the coals are hot.

I also drew a picture that I kind of chuckle at. It's a picture of a guy and he's screaming and holding up a stub of an arm and blood is gushing out of the nub. There's this footbag player (with a WFA shirt on) holding the guy's arm with a footbag in its dead fingers with a menacing grin on his face. Then there's this caption that says WARNING: Bogarting the footbag may result in loss of limbs. This is kind of ironic since I'm one of the most bogarty players of the RITFA.

I'd love to get an RFA sweatshirt... I really need a new hoody. Maybe like a cool logo on the front with lettering on the back such as RFA or Rochester Footbag or some kind of saying.

Pat, you got some of my move attempts on video. I'd like to see them if possible. Also, what happened to the video taken from when Mosher came down? Did any of it turn out alright?

I'm probably not going to beable to make for the shred on sunday unless it starts later and goes on late, im going home for the weekend tomorrow but not till late. We should set up something for tomorrow if possible im good from 1:30-6.

Well this was a session that was kept on the DL but it was still mighty fun.
Started out the session with nice strings, working on my flip osis a little. Then out of nowhere I hit whirl pretty damn well. It was almost a whirling swirl the first two times I did it. I ended up hitting it two more times before I started trying more things. I finally hit smudge. Pretty sure I hit it twice but I can't remember. It was all a blur. .

Then aric and I were spitting out double over down attempts like crazy. He hit at least one and I footed one at one point. It'll come gents. It'll come. Yeah I also hit pixie legover because I was thinking about what I missed. . . So I remembered the pixie legover.

If we do a session on sunday let's do it in waves of awesomeness. I can do it early in the day but I can't do it any time after 4 or 4.30. We have time though.
Yeah chris. I've got your footage. I'm working on a sneaky plan to go back home and snag my charger ASAP. Don't worry. It'll be up on the RITFA site in no time. I'd kind of like to manipulate the video first though to make it all snazy since you, matt, and aric all did quite well that session.

i just had a solo session for about an hour / hour and a half. it flew right by, I didn't even really feel tired, I just wanted to come in before I beat myself to death so I can be okay on sunday. nothing massive to report... a few more jani walkers, swirling pickup both sides, ducking pickup from toe both sides, swirling twirl again, kick set diving osis X4 switching sides, although it felt more like a duck because of where the inside kick occurred. rake> op osis x3 or so, with the rakes "rev swirling" style, where you set them off a clipper, point your toe down, let the bag fall past your outside surface and then rake, as opposed to setting from clipper and just raking. I think the rakes that go past the outside of your foot are way stylier... or just different, I dunno, I like them both. flipside symp whirls are coming along... I never really tried them before, it's just a lack of practice that's keeping me from having them. I want to have both sides symp whirling swirl soon. oh, also, I hit flip legbreaker.

I started a challenge thread today. I hit none of my challenges this session... especially not dragon set bigwalk... jeez, who thought that one up

I shouldn't have said I like dragons. I discovered I'm not that good at them any more.

So, any designs from anyone yet for the sweatshirts? it's about time we had some awesome footbag clothing.
