Got a job seismographing. It pays 8.50 to start out at, then you get raises as you go up. Work 10-15 hour days. Started on the 4th. Since it was a holiday, we got time and 1/2 for it, so I raked in 12.75 an hour. Since I have a driver's licence, I can be a driver. They get paid 9.25 or something close to that. We'll be working 18 miles south of Chinook for til September or October, then we'll be going to Yuma, Colorado, then some place in Arizona. Oh yeah, get get $30 each day for food and such (per diem, so it's tax-free!) We work 7 days a week. You add up time-off hours for each hour you work. So, when I get a week off, I'm going to stop in Missoula. I don't know when that'll be. Probably a month or two. Oh yeah, yesterday we got paid to sit around and smoke pot. Everyone on our crew minus the coordinator and a few others smoke pot, so it's probably the best job I've had. Lots of walking. We have 20 square miles to survey, so there's a lot of walking.

I had a hankering for footbag today so I tried to play despite my current condition. i only lasted about 20 minutes. Everytime I get sick, I have to rebuild my endurance :? But whatev. footbag is fun whether i'm doing kicks or trying to link 5s. Lots of 2 trick links>stop. I'm still drilling whirls and spins. my flip spin didn't hit me in the ass as much today. Woo! I also realized how much stronger my right diving mirage is compared to my left.

hillights:
-smear>terrage>rpt (16 contacts)
-spinning butter>infinity>rpt (7 contacts)--new drill for me
-midstring spin butter>tomahawk
-spin butter>mobius
-mobius bs
-one run w/ bsos spin butter, bsos spin illusion, bsos spin osis, bsos spin mirage (my best spin run)
-spin whirl bs

This summer is quite interesting. I am feeling loads better now, my immune system is winning the battle!! I decided on Friday that I was going to try and go the rest of the summer without toking or drinking. This has affected my game quite drammatically. I still haven't gone more than a week w/o toking since I started six years ago. Everytime I say i'm gonna take a break, I fold. Usually after only 2 or 3 days...sad I know. I mostly used herb as a tool for footbag. It really helps my mind focus on everything I'm doing while shredding. it aids my control, and I can analyze every motion. I've tried kicking two days in a row w/o toking and the results have been terrible. I flat out suck at footbag when I don't smoke. But i'm gonna have to learn how to do it. I don't think I had a single string in the past two days over twelve contacts. I was doint strings in the thirties and twenties b4 this. it's sooooo frustrating. there were a few things that came out of todays session though. the only cool things were:
-6 contacts spin butt>duck butt>rpt
-plo>barrage>rpt
-frigid gyro barrage (new trick)

I closed the session pretending I was in sick trick at ShrEdmonton. And it was good. here it is in order:
-first attempt- food processor (success)
-second attempt- mullet (success)
-third attempt- whirly gig (failed)
-fourth attempt- blurrage (success)
-fifth attempt- tried something for s&g's and footed my first quad dex- stepping pdx miraging flailing legover--blurry chainsaw massacre?

I then tried mullet about six more times and got four of them :) Now if I can only do that in competition.

The only times I think I might let my summer pot/alcohol break slide is in ShrEdmonton and at my friend Ty's wedding in august.

thanks setman

I've been feeling so good lately that I had a 2nd session last night and I'm very glad that I did. gotta train for ShrEdmonton. couldn't do any big tricks this session. it's prolly better that way. Don't want to fall into my old habits of trying only big tricks. Oh yeah, bought some new shred shorts last night. I love shred shorts

hilites:
-flip barfly (new)--finally, it's only a year and a half behind my strong  but don't get me wrong, I spend time trying it every single session
-bsos ddd (flip ddd is new)
-bsos duck ps mirage (new)--don't know why I've never even tried this trick. ps mimrage was one of my first 4 adds
-parkwalk>step ss illusion>rpt
-sidewalk>spin butter>pdx whirl>rpt
-some long strings :o
-pixie ss illusion b2b
-almost got a third dex on whirling whirr  the clip would've been nowhere close had I got that last dex

nice shit man. I just called you and left a depressing message. I think.

BUt really though, I'm missing out on a weeks work and it sucks ass. I thought I was going to have tons of mons, but now I'm not so sure. My car needs some work done to it and that costs mons for shuns. Hopefully I can get something to work out,

plus my car is fucking full!!! I really want penske to come, but he will be started a new job that week, I'm not sure if he wants to ask for time off on his 1st day of work.

Woo! Shred was great today. I felt really controlled, slow, and balanced. Today was Out-to-Lunch and the choral festival is going on, so I shredded to Holland, Australia, China, and a U.S. choir. nothing like kicking to "under the sea"

every wednesday, some kids from a group home have started to join me at the lunch deal. it is great. I feel like a role model, which kind of scares me in a way, but it's fun.

hilights:
-lots of long strings
-span out of a few drifters. one memorable string was bops>osis>div clip>drifter>spin butter>osis>gyro clip>drifter>spin butter>string
-duck butt>div butt>rpt>string
-string>blender>spin butter>string
-gyro butter>spin butter>rpt>string (super uncontrolled and sloppy  )
-ducks ducks ducks
-pixie ss illusion>tripwalk>string
-atomic muted clip>pdx blender>pdx whirl>string
-closed the session with one string in the 40 contact range, all guiltless, only about 15-20 bops (bsos div/duck butts, bsos gyro mirage, bsos blizzard>legbeater, bsos gyro butt, bsos spin butt, dyno, duck clip>div clip>rpt>duck clip>duck osis>div mirage, dropped on a duck pdx mirage)

had an interesting day yesterday.

@ work we are shifting books onto new shelves b/c there was no room for new books. Upon shifting, I noticed a magazine in a place where a magazine should not go. I assumed it was mis-shelved. When I went to grab it, I came to the realization that it was a porno dated from '94 :o Not only that, but it was placed smack dab in the middle of the puritan section.

the people upstairs picked a bunch of poppies and made poppy tea last yesterday. That was a crazy experience. after downing a couple glasses I went to get my hair buzzed. Sitting in the chair next to me was my friend cedric whom I hadn't seen in years. We've been playing phone tag for the last month.

exchanged some U.S. cash into canadien. Canadien money looks cool.

-smear>terrage>rpt (16 contacts)

So you repeated that 8 times !??! Craziness...if you'd see my flipside, you'd know why I respect that 16 contact drill. 8O I think it's time for a Kevin video...starring...yourself !

well, another tourney in the books. ShrEdmonton was more than I could have expected. Tons of fun, good people, and even more fun. Thanks goes to Byrin, Kevin, and Rory for hosting this event and for giving us shelter. Freckled lemonade is AMAZING! buy one near you. my first non-half assed writeup will be on the way but here are some hilights off the top of my head.

hilights

personal:

got 121 w/ a mid string blurry whirl (my first shred 30 w/ a 5 add)

vortex>string
-did tons and tons of ducks
-blurrage>string in a circle with kevin
-rubberman in a circle with rory

Kevin Regamy:
-crazy toe drills and combos. I still can't wrap my head around lots of
them
-pixie ducking symple swirl

-alpine pandemonium :!:

Rory:
-mr consistency had lots of long strings

Nice work at ShrEdmonton! The biggest thing I've hit in the last three weeks is a far pickup in work boots. My lavers are disintigrating and full of mud! I've got to stop hiking in my only pair of footbag shoes.
