Haha thanks, dude. My work should be letting up a bit after next week, so it'll be a bit easier to set something up, I hope.

So I got another pack of shred mats from modells. These ones are thicker and denser though. And, they didn't fit perfectly with the ones I had. So, I did a mat mod job lol. The thickness difference doesn't really matter considering I was simply extending my shred area. I love shred mats lol.

I think my problem before when I'd have a session on my back deckporchthing is that I'd have the mentality it would be a good session cause I'd have no traction. Now that mentality is gone, and it's almost like I'm all of a sudden "better" or getting certain things more easily. Granted, I don't think I am actually better cause of the mats, but it is nice having a good shred mentality.

That being said, I'm finally starting to get a grasp on blurriest kinda. Once I started to think of it like blurry whirl body movement/placement, I've been hitting a few good ones each session. Before, I'd just put some much unneeded effort into hitting one. Now, when I hit one, it's simply more conservative I think.

I'm also finally having some more longer strings. Not many more lol, but there's a difference. Must be the shred mats ;)

Just got home from work, and I'm super tired. I was on the fence about kicking before work because I ate a big brunch around 11:30 with a friend. Work was at 4, meaning I'd have to kick from 2-3 so I could properly digest and get ready for work. I almost didn't kick cause I wasn't sure if that time span would make me happy, but I'm real glad I did.

I just wanted to start getting better at effin barfly. At the end of my last session, I realized I was simply setting too low on one side. Setting higher seemed to make a difference, but I didn't have too much time to test. Today, however, I set higher on both sides, and holy crap, it made such a difference. I'm not saying I hit it every single time. In fact, I was far from it. The motion simply became easier. Hit:

- barfly b2b bs (almost bsos)
- blurriest bsos

Definitely happy about that.

I have some pain on the inside of my right knee. I figure it's a good time to ignore that though lol. Maybe it's just them double downs. Hm..

Barfly b2b is sick dude. I don't know if you've hit it yet, but try Motion since your barflies seem to be pretty damn decent. Sounds like those new mats have done you well lol You kick with Luis yet? I know he's been training hard and dying to kick with you. Keep up the great stuff dude.

I got kicked out of my shred spot by my dad, so I had to move to a different patio in my yard. It's so uneven. I'm probably just going to have to go to tennis courts or something every time I want to kick now. Lame lol

Since Nick was talking about motion stuff a few posts up, that's what I worked on. Sooooo, I got:

- motion bsos after footing it a ridiculous amount of times lol
- locomotion bs

It was nice to hit a new 6 both sides.

Good times.

BEASTLY. That's fucking crazy, John. Or should I say, "Eso es LOCO!!!" AYEEEE! ...God that was lame. Anywhoser, props dude. It's funny that you posted you hit locomotion bs, because I was daydreaming the living crap out of that trick today while I was at work. My dreams are your reality. You must feel cool now lol

Hahaha of course I feel cool.

I had to take 4 days off because my best friend was home for a week. Between hanging with him and working, I had zero time. My session after that wasn't too good. I didn't have any of my choice bags, and I was wearing my least favorite shorts lol. It just wasn't a good sesh. My ankle was also hurting afterwards too, which was weird. I figured pain was a good reason to take one more day off.

Kicked today. It was rockin. I brought my shred mats to the tennis courts, and jeez, those things just make me happy. Bsos'd a few different things pretty easily. Had a bunch of decent strings. It was fun.

Can't wait for NYFA. Last year was so much fun, and I couldn't even stay the whole time. This time, I'm there the whole time.

Fun fun fun fun

Took yesterday off and kicked lightly after work today. So gosh darn hot here.

The plan was to go through my usual warmup, which I shortened a bit today, and then just hit a bunch of individual tricks to keep them fresh. Then I ended up doing some minor drills.

Highlights I enjoyed:

- fear > pixie ss mirage > rpt (I still and am not great at fairies)
- rubberman 1.5 times through (want twice through so badly!)
- superfly bs (footed the bsos :( )

Now let me share a small story about my superfly experience. I'm sitting here waiting to change my laundry that I need for NYFA jam, so why the heck not write?

I've randomly tried superfly over the ages never to any avail. I was naively hoping superfly would end up like ps whirl for me, and I'd be able to hit it before I was ready for it skill-wise. With ps whirl, I hit it on my flip before I could even hit flip symp whirl. Way to be, John (however, my flip ps whirl [left dexing leg] is better at symposium that my right, allowing me to hit flipside out of the blue). I can now do symp whirl fairly easily, so I think I have the more or less have the right to hit ps whirl. I hit dolomite a few weeks ago as an attempt to be good, starting on a foundation to hit superfly. Hitting it was really awkward, and I could only get it one side, left leg dexing. That leg is my better paradon, but I think the other leg is my better barfly. So, which side should I try superfly? I'll bank on cheating, and go with my better-at-symposium left dexing leg. My first try felt eerily smooth and correct although I didn't hit it. Wtf. After footing it several a time, I hit it ending on right clipper, for the win. Then after a few tries at the other side, I just wasn't getting the right set and movement. I almost stopped there, then I decided that I need to hit it that side real bad. It was just annoying not being able to do it on my strong ps whirl side. Then, there was a glimmer of hope in the form of footing it, or something like that. A few tries later, I nailed it that side. It was felt like I was karate chopping someone, with my foot. I went for the string in order to bsos it. Ambition was taking over. 4 or 5 contacts later, good set, good jump, possibly the dexes, starts to hit foot, rolls right off.. On a happy note, I'll probably bsos it relatively soon, at least. I'm not too worried after how those felt today. Good times.

Wow, I'm bored.

Sorry lol.

Superfly!

NYFA rocked hard, as usual. It was awesome to stay the whole weekend from friday till sunday. I really think staying the whole time at events is part of making it not a good, but a great time.

Everything from hot tubs to ps whirls on a rainy roof to footing a beastly link to ping pong to competition made it awesome.

Something from this weekend that I took away was a new mental approach to footbag. Seeing and hearing how a few other players footbag really made me want to bring my game to the next level. And that's exactly what I plan and hope to do. I've regimented a training schedule for the next month or so, and I'll be following that pattern. I'll make a new regiment each month and see where it takes me.

Anyway, here are some random highlights from the weekend:

- Superfly first try on friday
- ps whirl > spinning whirl first try on friday
- blurriest bsos again
- flip dolomite
- ducking rev walkover > simple swirl to start off my first string in comp
- maelstrom for the first time since last april lol
- whirlwind bs again
- footed whirligig > spender a couple times

Yuppers, that's about it as far as the trick things go.

As I'm sitting here with pain in my ankle, knee, and hip, I realize just how happy I am to be a part of footbag.

I've wanted to kick a lot since the past few days, but I've only gotten to kick wednesday and today thanks to rain and weather and fishing and such. I've started my new drilling sessions. Doing a warmup with 4 half hour segments now. It's weird cause before NYFA, it had been a really long time since I'd had a solo sesh that lasted 2 hours, now I've done 2 no problem.

Highlights between the two sessions:

- 20 osii with a solid pause each session (challenge from 1.5 years ago lol)
- osis x45
- about 150 ripwalks bs total
- spinning osis > gyro osis > rpt bs
- spinning osis > stepping clipper > rpt
- spinning osis pause x2 bs
- ripwalk pause x3
- 200 blenders bs total
- blender > gyro clipper bsos two different strings

Now I have another week to week and a half of this before I change up the stuff.

Good times

edit: I forgot I hit a couple super clean surging sets on one side. Hit probably the cleanest bigwalk I've ever hit. I actually saw the bag outside my leg after the spin and before the step, so I know it was def clean lol

Props on clean surging. I can't even do slurry style, cause I don't understand it.

As for hitting super old challenges, I think it's good to periodically go back and rehit old challenges, since it shows you how well you've assimilated concepts into your game.

good chillin last weekend man. It was good to kick it with you again. I think on of my favorite parts of the weekend was when we were both gonna hit ps whirl at the same time and i hit mullet and you hit psw>spender instead.

and i would say gig>spender was more like hit even though you wrote footed.

good work with the drilling man. It's gonna pay off huge. please let me catch up though

Haha thanks dude. And there's no catching up to do!

Kicked today for the first time in a week. This week has been so rough with the rain. Between it raining perfectly when I get off work, and work itself, time has been too scarce. I can't wait till I'm back at school and I'll have a room to kick in any time of the day regardless of weather.

Didn't drill today, but I applied a lot of stepping and blenders into my runs.

Highlight thingers:

- broke tiltless record: from 54 to 74
- several random longer strings that I didn't even try to hard to have longish
- some strings I was legitimately happy with
- haze bs lol

In other news, I bought a kayak. It is awesome. Like Nick Polini said, it's a good cross-train for footbag. Go upper body!

Nice man. Props on breaking tiltless record. Although I've quit my blog for the time being, I plan on keeping up with your's.

And also, definitely hit me the heck on up when you figure out your work schedule. I can't wait to shred with you next week. Oh and KAYAK TRIP! I have yet to buy my kayak mount  Planning on doing that very soon. Really hyped for our kayak trip though. That's gonna be awesome! Really looking forward to that day.

Text me when you know the day you're off. Cya then dude.

Thanks dude! And, just in case you somehow happen to read this before you see my text that I sent this morning, my day off is thursday again, like I thought it'd be.

Yeah.

So I drilled again yesterday. Cut everything down a bit cause it was really hot out, and I had no shade. I hit 20 consec ripwalks a while ago in the late winter, I think, but I haven't been able to do it again. So, that's part of what I've been working towards in my drillings as of late. Yesterday, I got to 22 pretty quickly, so I rewarded myself with a tad bit of stringing before I moved onto my blending practice. So, I hit spinning symple swirl bsos. Even spun out of the second. It was super nifty.

For some reason, I decided to hit ripped warrior first try also. Then I hit spikehammer within 2 or 3 tries. I guess there was just a new spring to my step lol. Flip stepping is just barely too low though. Almost there.

My blenders are really coming along too. I'm waiting a while to start relearning/reworking pdx blenders, though. After blending, I did a string with blender bsos and stepping stuff bsos no problem. Like, 20 contacts first try.

At that point, I was overheated. Didn't feel well for a couple hours. Good times lol
