Props on such perseverance. All that basics practice will definitely payoff. I foresee big things from you in the not-so-distant future. See you in a few days!

I tried and tried, but I just can't manage flipside neck delay lololol I already see improvement in stupid crap though, like cloud kick midrun and I hit ATW Kick BSOS today! hahaha Oh boy. Head stalls have become cakey now, plus I have a divit in my head that helps stall the bag haha. Thanks for the words, Doug. I hope so. Gotta do my gosh darn 2 adds this week. No actual shred this week... Well, maybe a session with some of the PA Pals. But I really wanna get through my 2 adds before NYFA.
Anyway, Sunday Session happened today. Everyone had a great time. It was only Jackson, Bob, Drew, Corey and I this time, but we still had a lot of fun. Nothing great from me today, but longer strings, which was cool.
First Flipside Phoenix! Kinda cool. Plus I ducked my flip Pixie a buttload of times. Pixie is on my 2 add list, so I hope I get better at flip pixie before NYFA.
Hit my 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th Flipside Ripsteins today. Totally came so ding-darn close to BSOSing it. Hit the flip rip first and footed the strong rip, which is mentally fucked on up in the head because I can hit strong rip so consistently now. I'll BSOS it soon... hopefully.
Helping Jackson with his science homework now, then later I wanna start on those dern 2's. Oh and Bob gave me a new drill to incorporate with the 2's... I'll reveal it if/when I complete it successfully... hopefully "when".

First of all, I just read Mark M's blog and he said that he was trying to hit flip whirling swirl, then he thought about how I hit it, and he was driven to hit it after that. That really made my night. I never thought I'd inspire one of my favorite players to hit a trick. That shit is just awesome.
Secondly, I just had a huge breakthrough. I hit something I've always tried to hit and even told myself "I'll never have enough strength to hit that"... So before I went to bed, I walked into my kitchen, barefoot and armed with a footbag in hand and...
As a casual bed-time drill, and to try to bring my weirdness back from the grave, I decided to hit 100 Flapper Delays barefoot bs. COMPLETE.
But what came after the flappers, was what I was talking about earlier, the breakthrough...
FLIPSIDE FLAPPER> REVERSE SWIRLING FLAPPER!!!!
My ankle was never strong enough for this trick on flipside, but I guess over a little bit of time, it developed more strength. I hit it about 10 times on both sides. Strong side has been doable for me for a long time. I was/am still so excited I was able to prove my body wrong.
Oh and something else that was pretty neat that I did earlier during a small study break with Jackson...
Strongside flapper stepping set> hand catch in my Quantum '03's that Mark Monistere sent me oh so long ago. I was excited to have that back since I hadn't hit it since I switched out of Nucleus a while back.
I also forgot to mention this highlight earlier... During Sunday Session, I hit Spinning Clipper> Sumo. That felt gnasty.
I noticed I took a break from all the weird shit I used to do to solidify my basics more... Now since pulling off that relentless x100 bs 1 add list drill thing, I feel like I'll be f[uns]tylin' it up again soon, but with new weird tricks in my repertoire, such as variations of Knee Stall, Cloud Stall, and so on.
I'm actually really anxious to start the new secret drill that Bob suggested to me. I said before:
2 Adds prepare to be vanquished! ...You bitches.

Haha well put, Kevin.
I got home from work around 4 and spent about... shit.. like 5 hours on drilling some 2 adds... Didn't get very far, variety-wise, but HUGE improvements in some key shiite...
ATW Delay x100 bs
Clipper Delay x100 bs
(Fuck) Bubba x100 bs This took me so long! I suck at illusioning dexes and I can honestly say, before today I hadn't hit more than 3 of these on either side. I started to get the feel for the illusion dex... I still dislike it though.. It's just not for me. If anything, I liked this drill because I felt it possibly could build up my leg strength, since my legs aren't used to dexing out to in. Eh, we'll see.
Cloud Delay x100 bs I LOVE these now! My second favorite [uns], first is still flapper
But Oh shit, first off, missing so many of these in the beginning was SO annoying, so I had to figure out a target on my calf to aim for. I found it on each side, drew a little target on each calf with a sharpie, and afterward, I found it difficult to mess them up! On the downside, I now have something that looks just like a pair of boobs on the back of my legs in permanent marker and I'm visiting my grandma tomorrow... Awesome. But the movement got me used to some old and new concepts...
Old/New Concepts:
After I messed some of them up, I'd bail to toe and I experimented around and hit my first flipside dustpans!!!
Dustpan b2b! I've never actually seen anyone do that. I'm pretty amped on this one. Used it midstring a bunch of times with success.
Stepping ss Cloud Delay bs
Whipping sets!? I hit Whipping sets to op toe on both sides. I totally get this set now (if you can call it a set)
Cloud delay> Calf roll> Osis bs
Cloud delay> Calf roll> Dyno bs
Cloud delays also strengthened my ability to hit Tootsie Rolls! I was way stoked on this! Can't wait to actually drill these separately
Xbd Cloud Delay bs! New on each side! These feel bad ass and look sick too. Definitely wanting these'ins in my game.
To end my night:
Was so tired from drilling all day, but I strung a bit outside. I actually felt the one adds drill paying off a bit. My strings felt more powerful and controlled, so that's good.
Guiltless string with Whirl BSOS
Guiltless string with Symposium Whirl BSOS
Guiltless string with Toe Whirl BSOS (My flip toe whirl is snappy now! I feel like it's almost dialed and will soon be an undeniable bail from toe, and damn do I need some good bails from toe.)
Tomorrow, I work again, but I plan on knocking out another handful of 2's. I'm really excited about this big drilling plan I'm doing. I can already start to feel it pay off. When everyone was telling me to focus on my basics, I was practicing 3 adds, when I actually needed to go ALL the way back and start at 1 adds. Glad I'm finally doing that. Bob Riefer, if you're reading this, You're the man.

Corey: Yep, that's the ticket spot
Ian: Thanks for the compliment! I really wish you could make it to NYFA too man. Fuck. That's whack, you have to teach, right? Well, just bring the kids to NYFA and teach them about footbag. It's Physics in a way
Had a nice chill session tonight with Bob. FIRST OFF... Bob's stepping sets are shitting all over the IFPA. BAM! He fixed one thing and now his runs have madd dense stepping in them. It's exactly what Bob's game needed, in my opinion.
We just worked on different aspects tonight really.
Highlights:
Inspinning Clipper bs (My 2 cleanest so far)
Hopover Swirl bs (Flipside is very rare for me)
Flux bs! (New on flipside!)
Double Switchover strong! (New!)
I GOT MY REVSTEINS BACK!!!! So stoked! I haven't hit one since X-Mas, and now they feel better than ever. I want to try Revstein> Ripstein soon. This made my night.
Hit my 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th flip Ripsteins! I'm really starting to pinpoint just what I need to do to hit this properly every time. 5 of the 6 steins were within about 5 minutes. 3 of them were in a row. Felt like I was Monistere or Gatesman for a hot minute
Ended session on a request from Bob... Stepping Ducking Legover bs! Woo! That's new on both sides man!
So Bob is now in on the 1's and 2's drill I've been doing. Can't wait to see what it does for his game.
Jackson, Drew, and I are traveling to NYFA together. Toolan will be coming on Saturday evening. PA REPREZENTIN'!!!!

IMO the key to this trick is the footwork - hop back (like for infinity), square up to the bag, then go for the dex. Makes it a less awkward leg motion & encourages you to really focus on the details.F[uns]tylin' Eclectic wrote:(Fuck) Bubba x100 bs This took me so long! Tony: Thanks dude, and I wish you the best of luck with this drill. It's time-consuming as all hell, but you'll see improvements almost immediately.
Nathan: Hey man, thanks for the tips with Bubba. That makes so much sense to me. I was having a lot of trouble with them. Bob gave me some pointers tonight and with your's and bob's together, it makes much more sense now.
So I just came back from my friend's house not too long ago, and a bunch of my other friends were there. Cool to see everyone again, since I haven't really hung out with a whole lot of my non-footbag friends. They were smoking blunts and playing Mortal Kombat. I didn't partake in any of the three blunts being passed around. I think blunts are so unhealthy. I don't believe anything is wrong or dangerous about marijuana and I think it's alright for someone to smoke a bowl or joint every now and again... but blunts, not so much. Anyway, while they were doing that I decided to unnoticeably drill dragons in my corner while everyone was absorbed by the tv. Then my friend Matt saw and asked if I wanted to hack, so we hacked for a bit. I'd pull out a ripwalk or swirl or something here and there and he would freak out about it. He said it looked like I had gotten a lot better, which was nice to hear. Then people's attention went from the tv to our circle. Soon after, my friend Tom asked me to do my sickest trick. I was wearing baggy shorts, so I could barely hit stepping, so I chose Dragonstein, because that's always a crowd pleaser. I hit it within a few tries. Then they asked to see another one. I couldn't really think of any that were calm enough to do in a small space. Then, being an idiot, I tried Whirlygig. I came close the first time, then tried it again and kicked it away... It landed right next to my friend's expensive bong. Everyone tweaked about it and I felt like a dickhead, so I said good-bye and just peaced out. I got a text later saying my friend wasn't mad. It's stupid shit like this that gets footbag a bad reputation with my friends. But anyway, I drove home and drilled 1 more part of the 2's.
Dragon Delay bs x100
My flip dragon feels much better now. I'm so tired ow though. Going to bed. Much drilling in the morning. Night all.

Definitely smart of you to avoid those. been doing the same.
good stuff. stepping ducking legover is whats up. Nice to see you schooling your weird shit as much as your standard tricks.

I have nothing against MK, just the blunts. They rolled 3 fat ones for like 5 people... totally unnecessary. Trust me, back when I wasn't as serious about freestyle, I would have partaken in those. I actually named my 2 ft water pipe "Sub-Zero" lol I'll show you pics at NYFA if you wanna see it. I'm also trying to sell it...
I'm gonna go drill now I think. I really wanna make it through my 2's before NYFA.

I'm pretty horrible at MK, but I'd be down to play... Ooohh, Just realized those are Matt Kemmer's initials... Fantastic!
So I had a bit of a shred session with Corey earlier. Corey is improving like crazy. Wish he was coming to NYFA this weekend, but he can't.
Highlights:
Ripstein> Reverse Swirl (I've been trying for that one for so damn long)
Hit my 21st and 22nd flip Ripsteins today.
Swirl> Reverse Swirl BSOS like buttah
Reverse Swirl> Blender bs
Currently letting my legs chill, watching Tricks of the Trade 2 in extremely slow motion... So sweet. I'm figuring out so many secret tips to tricks, like leaning, inspinning, blurrage, and some others.
Jackson, Drew, and I are heading to NYFA in 2 days! Mike Toolan is heading up on Saturday cuz he couldn't get off of work. And Drew has to check with something first, so he's not sealed the deal yet, but I'm pulling for him. It'd be great to have a PA representation in NY this weekend. Looks like we got our fair share of players going up. So excited! My first time in NY actually. Pretty sad, considering I live in PA :\ But whatever, this jam will make up for the fact that it's my first time there. I can't freaking wait. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of the players I've not yet met, like Kevin H, Pete B, Will D, and I'm sure I'll meet plenty of others. Also gonna be great to see some people I haven't seen in a coon's age (BARRETTTTTT!!!!!!!) Shit.... WOOOO!!!!

Just had a "Fuck-my-legs-are-so-stiff-we-should-play-footbag-to-prepare-for-NYFA" shred with Jackson.
Jackson's having slight knee pains, but they're getting better, which is good.
Highlights:
Swirl> Reverse Swirl> Ripstein! Thanks to Mark M. for the inspiration. I saw that he hit that yesterday, and I really wanted to try it. Thanks dude.
Swirl> Torque bs
Midstring Symp. Whirls BSOS
I'M READY... The Joy Speader had better be there though....

So a little bit ago, Jackson and I had a water gun fight with the 5-10 year olds next door. We were in my pool, they were in their pool, and we were separated by an 7ft wooden fence. That was a bad ass water war.
Anyway, after the pool, Jackson took a nap and I went out to play footbag. I was very surprised by what had come out of it...
Highlights:
Atom Smasher BSOS midstring
Tap BSOS
Legbeater BS
Ducked a few Atomic sets from bs
I used to hate Atomic sets. Bob recently told me to stop picking on different sets that I don't like and maybe the reason you don't like them is because you're doing it wrong... Bob was right again. I was studying how Sunil did them last night while I was watching TOT2. I mimicked him and, sure enough, boom, Atomic sets. They don't hurt me anymore at all, and I'm doing them in a completely new way now. I'm so pumped. what used to be an "impossible to hit without hurting my shins" set, has now turned into one of my easiest and most comfortable sets. Just in time for NYFA too. Sweet.

No, I'm actually doing them Hippie. I just set how Sunil did it, but I pull it back more, closer to my body, so that it makes it more hippie, dexed at the thigh. And like you said, I exert very little energy while doing the set. I'll be practicing it and trying to get some tips at NYFA... Oh yeah...
NYFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the information though, Ken. I didn't know that leggy was harder to do tricks with. I just knew people really tried not to do it that way
But as I was saying...
NYFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peace, Bishes...

NYFA blow'd up my head. It was so rad that the bone structure of my skull started to weaken and simply exploded when the weekend ended...
I had such a great time at NYFA. I can't even tell you how great it was if you weren't there. Hock damn... Uh... Kinda like this...
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY-03vYYAjA[/youtube]
...But with hallucinogenic laser beans flashing brightly and chaotically through the fog...
OH FUCK YEAH.
Highlights:
Met some new friends (Kevin, Tristan, Pete, Will, etc...)
Seeing old faces (Barrett & Brittany)
Hanging out and shredding with old, new, and recent friends
Pussy Flakes (Sorry Kevin, but that was too funny)
Spa, bbq, and party on the roof of Matt C's apartment
Flame bag with Will D. while the security guard was watching us
Journey to and from NY with Jackson
Ben Cooke's bad ass laser show
Sweets hahaha
Chillin around Bruce's
Giving Bruce's cat a bag of Headies Catnip from PA
Medeski, Martin, & Wood concert with Drew M, Kevin, and Matt K.
Talking and hanging out with Kemmer and getting to know him a little better than I did at NYJ. He's a really nice kid.
Matt K, John G, Mark B, and my nonsensical game of "Gestation periods of made-up animals and rhyming" 4-square "Zero... Fuck You."
Pete trying to hit Mobius on a moving subway
Chatting and hanging out with everyone
Seeing Nemesis b2b hit by Jay and just wanting to throw up
Last year was "The Joy Spreader", this year was the "Pancake Lawyer"
Seeing the freestyle frisbee players in the park
COmpeting in Circle Comp with Jay and during his last run, midstring he says to me "Nick, what trick should I hit?" I was so taken off guard by it, that I completely went blank and said "Something awesome", so he went for (I can't remember exactly, but I think it was...) Montage (?) I wish I would have said "Leviathan" because that would have been so freakin gnarly. Jay absolutely tore it up this weekend. That kid is a champ.
Watching Ben Cooke hit hard ass tricks first or second try... Gauntlet went down, and so did Alpine Whirlygig... along with some other huge'uns that he hit. He's a fucking champ too.
...NYFA.
Shit... There was sooo much more, but I think that covers a good bit of it.
Oh and footbag-wise:
Mobius b2b! 2nd time! Felt so good to hit it it Quantums.
Revstein (and I think I figured them out again
)
Flapper Mobius clean this time
lots of cool [uns] junk
Ripstein> Mobius!!!! Ben filmed it and I think it's going in the video he's making for NYFA jam. Pretty hyped about this. It's my first good footage that is going to be in a jam video. Can't wait to see it and be reminded of how great of a time we all had.
Inspinning Clipper BSOS
NYFA: First time in NY... you guys certainly made an impression on me. Thanks for everything, everyone.
