looooooooooooser, Quitting is for quitters!
I know you're not really quitting, and I'm just giving you shit. What moves have you invented nick laroche? I don't know them offhand. And just s you know, you shouldnt compare yourself to Jorden. He's not the bestest ever ever ever, he just works extraordinarily hard and is very dedicated. So dont feel discouraged when somebody passes you up. I know its hard, because I feel the same way, but be happy for them, and then pick something to be better a than they are

ok guys.... first off I really had a great time atthe montreal jam.. the new competition concept was really nice, I got to play in Will Digges circle, and found it really nice. With a higher number of competitors I think that It would be better to be held more than 1 day, maybe 1 to 3 days for prelims, and a day for the finals. I can'T understand why anyone else wouldn't want to use than competition format.
and then..... Is anyone going to Kingston on the 1st of july, im looking for a ride, Ill pay gas.. I do have money..
give me news guys please..

we got a new player, he showed up the past 2 sessions, he can do atw both sides, can link 3 or 4 of them
legover to legover..
He's called Julien, and I hope he sticks with footbag.. montreal needs new players
on another note, Nick Laroche showed up today.. he's still so good, even tough he still thinks he sucks,
you know you dont!
I did'nt hit anything massive or worth mentionning I beleive, altough I changed my mind that colossus is way easier then I previously tought (I'm still far away but it seems possible now)

Mathieu Gauthier
BAM!!!!
WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!
After much discussion with the Master of Disaster James McCullough, (less then one minute), we've decided to resurrect the Montreal blog and try and bring some life back to the scene.
With Ianek Regimbald, James McCullough, Sebastien Duschesne and Mathieu Gauthier, we got the third rock on lock, we can't stop. All of us are keen in to playing a lot more and pushing harder then we have before.
FIRST SESSION TOGETHER YESTERDAY!
It went well, though Ianek is coming off of an injury and had new lavers, so couldn't go through his usual repertoire of tricks. He was practicing some very interesting ducking concepts from toe, such as zulu whirl/swirl,and some spinning variants as well... definitely moves that I would like to steal from him one day.
James was playing a bit off but I saw him hit some links which I know are tough for him, which was good. Style Supreme. He is also making a comeback, so I'm expecting him to skyrocket back to his usual greatness and more in the next coming weeks.
I played strongly for someone who hadn't played in about 3 weeks. It was shaky at first, but still managed to do some fun links/tricks, and worked a bit more on my flip barfly, which is my most difficult component. For the record I can hit it now about 1/2 times, and it will be getting better.
Some stuff I hit included: Reverse swirling pickup > Phasing swirl, Pdx. Flux a bunch of times (didn't drop it once), footed GYBAS > Janiwalk (rolled off the catching clipper, but was clean).
Before that, my PS whirling swirls have been really on, and I expect to re-hit Swirlwind soon enough. In fact, last month I stepped out of PS whirling swirl but didn't have enough energy to hit anything spectacular.
I've been very happy with my style, especially after viewing Chan's latest video of me. Even though I hadn't played in a long time before that tournament and I sucked ass, I very much like the way it looks when I play.
Liking your own style, to me, is a big leap in learning how to improve with footbag. Ever since I hated my style and concentrated on it I've only been minutely improving, and I would like to think that now that I don't worry whether what I hit looks good or not, I can focus more on my physcial game instead of the mental one.
My future goals are to increase my consistancy across the board, to be able to easily hit 15+ contacts in a run. I COULD do this now, but I refuse to sacrifice quality for quantity. I would like to stop abusing merkon as a bail, and to include more interesting ducks/dives into my game.
In OTHER BIG NEWS, I have an interview friday for a ....
FOOTBAG JOB
HUGE!!!! It pays extremely well, and is full-time, but because I'm an ass and I don't want the company flooded with other footbaggers, I refuse to say which company it is and what they are looking for. But I may be one of the first professional footbaggers (literally) in history! Very exciting.
That's it for NOW, stay tuned....
same BAP place,
same BAP time....
Tommorow: Solo-session at NDA, working on consistancy and performance-related moves for my audition friday.
ps: I also told someone that I followed their blog closer then a pedophile follows an ice-cream truck, and I find it funny so I'm re-quoting it here.

That is all awesome, Nick! Totally awesome.
I love how you guys are getting enthusiastic at this time of year. As soon as the days get shorter, our scene shrivels up, and we stop playing together. I forget what some of my club members look like, its been so long...

And .... BEST of luck with your job interview!! I really hope you will get the job! That would be sooo good for montreal's footbag scene!!

BAM is right, this is a well needed rejuvenation, call it the anti-hibernation conspiracy. Or whatever you want so long as it's as long winded as 20 bagpipers playing 'Ride of the Valkries'
I'll leave my blog on the wayside for now and post mostly in here.
I'm very excited to have the motivation to play all the time and see all my Montreal homies have that same motivation. We've got a unique crew and hopefully we'll be able to showcase that throughout the winter as we train our butts off.
Nick I was at NDA tonight BTW, but you must have gotten lazy mister lazy pants. You pretty much summed up the session nicely. I just have to add that it's always great to see you play in person, cuz you link like there's no tomorrow even though there is.
On that note I had a nice solo session tonight. Realized a few things. Like maybe my BOPs aren't as solid as they should be. Also re-discovered that if you're having problems with your flip, do the good side then imitate it as much as you can on the other immediately after. Does wonders I tells ya. I basically schooled a bunch of basic things, and felt good about it.
I hope to become somewhat useful at footbag in the near future. We'll see what I can cook up.
Tom, to answer your question, we have a sports center (where we hosted MSJ2 for those who went) with a 15 buck fee to use it pretty much any time during the week all winter. Besides that we usually sneak around the metros and find low-key places. If I'm desperate I go to the garage level of my building.
Which brings us to shredding with you on the weekend John. NDA is closed so we'll have to get crafty. Seems Mathieu is out so I'll get in touch with Nick and Ianik, see what's up. If nothing else works, I've got a metro spot we can hit.
Peace out!

Sorry dude, I'm not going to be in Montreal this weekend, otherwise I would definitely have kicked it up with you.
Solo Session Yesterday
I spent the whole time practicing for my audition today, so did some warmp-ups, practiced my 2 adds like crazy, and did 5 routines. I dropped at most 5 times in a routine, and then bombed one of them to shit. What was wrong? I thought about it and realized that though what I will be doing is similar to a routine, these people aren't judges. They don't care about the technical difficulty, they just want to make sure I don't suck too much.
With that thought in mind I'm going to re-improvise the routine on the fly, and drop out most of the harder combos/links I had in there and replace them with legover or some shit. My GF was helping me by counting drops and timing, and she said she couldn't tell if I was repeating moves or not, not even after 5 times watching the routine, and ESPECIALLY not the first time.
Since the interviewers will be viewing footbag for the first time ever ever, it lead me to my conclusions which I've written earlier in this post fr the gentle readers out there. For the not-so-gentle readers, fuck off.
The song, BTW, will be: Lord Finesse - Return of the Man, and yes, I've stolen a couple of Bevier's "Manly" (well, HE thinks they're manly) moves from his routines. It'll be perfect.
Guys, this is a message to all footbaggers out there: ALWAYS have a routine prepared. You never know when an opportunity such as the one I got will happen, and it's important to be prepared. And if you alway have a routine ready that's practiced, not only will you get so much practice in you won't ever drop it, but you'll also be ready for worlds! BAM. Reason enough right there.
I did a LITTLE bit of shred, and just worked some stupid links, most of which I dropped, though I did get Barroque > Inspinning Blender, which I though was pretty huge, at least for me. I don't claim to be a Jorden or Penske or whoever, but I'm happy with my game at the moment.
Anyway, I want you all to pray to the Drop God that he sleeps in past 1pm today so that the routine works flawlessly. If I drop, I'll specifically blame YOU.... you know who you are....
Once I'm done with the audition, I'll post what happened.
STAY TUNED!
Same BAP place....
Same BAP time....
PEACE.
