Moot. Lol, anyway I kinda had some time to think about this topic during the tournament. I keep getting these floss bags, and I don't know, I guess I should clear something up.RawSko wrote:This whole Floss vs. Other thread thing I believe is a fairly mute point.
Needle placement, gather, filler, material and even the needle being used all make a MUCH bigger difference. Whatever you can use most effectively is the best thread for you to use... they're all good
keep it real
I do think that they can be very playable, given the right fill and stitching technique, I just feel that cotton/poly and nylon are superior. Like I won a bag that scott bevier's gf made, and it's a great bag. It's floss, with shot. I'm probably gonna add more fill, but all she had was shot to put in it.
Anyway, a bunch of people played with it, and it played great, etc. It just doesn't respond optimally, like I feel thread bags do. I feel that floss doesn't 'give' enough, and let the panels move freely on the bag because it's too wiry. I played with a bag I bought off of Nathan, it was like a buttery dream. Amaretta and thread. An Ilija that was facile and thread, and it was magical.
Anyway, I know I've sounded somewhat totalitarian about this topic, but I guess in the end it does boil down to preference. I seriously think some of the floss guys would change their mind if they played with some quality thread bags, even if they were self-made.
I'll stop getting all sciency now cuz I've said pretty much all there is to say on my viewpoints. It is pretty interesting to note how evenly divided the poll is. Anyway, enjoy stitching, and enjoy footbag.
