edit: Just want to note ahead of time that while we most likely will try to get a suite similar to what we had the last few years, it's not a guaranteed thing. There have been years where we tried but were unable to secure one. So if you are thinking of coming out, plan on booking a room or splitting one with other people attending so you don't get left out in the cold (and it will be cold). Obviously we'll have more concrete details on this once we start getting closer to the date, this is just a heads up.
Called for the shred room today, and began the dance of prices and availability.
The guy said that the 29 some big conference is going on, but that place has been dead for the past 7 years that we've gone there.
Price is dancy - "usually nothing cheaper than $500"
I need to talk to Steve and Scott about what they did last year. Some nonprofit stuff may be in place here. Or perhaps just the last minute-ness of our request last year.
I just posted the NYJ '07 event to the footbag.org listings. I have a meeting coming up with the City of Chicago to discuss this event and next summer's Taste of Chicago event.
The Hyatt (even though Jon is right, the Hyatt security people have become more and more draconian in their intolerance of our impromptu shreds) was very open to us shredding in that unused room across the walkway near the parking lot. We were able to stay as late as we needed, and I don't remember security even going over there to check on us. We got the room for under $200 per night and we hope to do it again this year. With the proper planning, we shouldn't need the last-minute generosity of supporters like Mr. Goldberg (it was great that he helped out last year, but we are planning to get it done through entry fees).
