Yes that would be awesome! Think I understand the hop with the legover but not with mirage. Would love any help you can give. I agree with atw and separating the set from the dex and will have to try placing it back further on my clippers. Thx Erik!

Thanks Aaron. Yeah I think I saw this somewhere actually. Linked from Facebook maybe? Great stuff! Lots of boobies. Also, I may need to be reminded about making a demo video. I'll try to do it next session I film, but I may forget. Also, if you can think of anything else you want me to film just let me know :)

Yo dude, long time no chat! I've been pretty busy with everything and then everything else. But I just checked out the most recent videos that I didn't get to watch yet. So pumped your hitting Legovers and Mirages now! Props man! I have come to you with tips on them now :D

Mirage: You want to set the bag up to your waist. Plant your set foot quickly as soon as the bag leaves your foot (as you plant you want to take a small step backward with the planting foot, then plant. This opens up your window a little more. You're so close to the bag in those videos, it looks like you're trying to rape it :P) Then, as the bag has stopped moving (when it has peaked in the air) your knee has JUST stopped lifting. So basically, your leg follows the bag upward around the same pace as it. Once you're all lined up and ready to dex, USE YOUR HIPS and a little bit of your leg muscles and lead with your knee.. Close your hip off when you're getting ready for the dex, then open them up to dex the bag. Stall bag.

Legover: They are tough at first, but your's don't look bad. My biggest tip with Legovers is to set waist height again, then bring your knee up to waist height, while putting your leg at a slant (Leg should be right in front of you, but your knee should be pointing outward slightly and your foot pointing inward), then here is the biggest tip I ever got for Legover… LEAD WITH YOUR HEEL. point your toes out slightly, then attack the bag with your heel. The upper leg doesn't do much, just lifts the leg into position, then stays there.. but the lower leg swivels at the knee joint, leading with the heel, then attacks the bag and stalls it. Try to end the stall sort of low, because you'll have a better chance of catching it, instead of trying to catch it higher up.

Hope these help you a bit. Any chance you can edit your videos when you post them? It'd be nice just to see the highlights, rather than sifting through the drops and stuff, trying to find the highlights. Or if you can't edit/don't have a program for it/dont have time, could you maybe leave time marks in your entries? Like, "Legover BSOS starting at 1:53", for example. Just a thought. It would make it easier to watch and critique your videos.

Keep up the good work. Much improvement seen in you. And seriously nice job with the toe stalls :D Basics are so KEY!

erik - i would love the mirage and legovers. let me know if you know when you're planning on shredding again and i'll pop you up on facebook to remind you. thx so much.

nick - yea, been a while. i'm glad to see that you're drilling more fairies. i think that would look great in your game.

thx so much for the tips on mirage and legovers. i'll try that out. i especially like the legover tip using the heel to drive down to the stall. that should help a ton!

i will also trip my videos down. i know this last one was 9 minutes and i know it's also boring to sift through drop after drop. i'll prob just cut out the times when i hit and post those.

had a short sesh sunday. wasn't going to drill because my knees were fucked up but then said what the hell. i can at least kick or work on something. i wore my chopat on one knee and a compression sock on the other. knees felt great actually. i only drilled for 30 minutes but it was a very productive 30 min. really worked on form and posture, breathing, staying on toes, flexing my abs while drilling, ya know, jorden's 10 most common form mistakes. thanks again paul for sending me the link to that. that should help a ton especially since i'm just starting. don't want to form bad habits right off the bat.

i am also thinking of drilling in the morning before i go to work. starting to get hot here in the south and i don't think i'm gonna be able to drill after work in the humidity and heat of the north carolina summers. i'm not much of a morning person and am not sure how these morning sessions will go but i am really trying to at least shred 3-4 days a week now. no more 1 day a week. gotta improve!!!

Re: Double AA's Footblog - 5 am SESH!

Post by akprice »

well i can't believe i did it but this morning i got my ass out of bed at 5 and started drilling. took me a bit to get warmed up but it was awesome to drill early in the morning when it's still relatively cool out. i swept and sprayed off the garage floor last night so my bags wouldn't get so damn dirty. there are still remnants of pollen everywhere.

here are the highlights:

 toe stalls - didn't break my record but had a couple of good runs of 85 and 53.
 legovers - finally hit b2b. they are getting there. made some significant progress this morning. set height is still to high.
 mirage - also starting to hit these. i've got to work on the set after the mirage for the consecutive. you'll see in the vid that my set is way too high. i think this will get better once my stall gets easier. mirage is also giving me shin splints in my right shin. might be landing on my heel to much. gotta stay on my toes.
 clipper - had a good couple of consecutives with these on strong side. they are feeling better. flip is getting there. i've got to work on my crank on flip. just not as good as strong.
 clipper>mirage - these are giving me fits. just can't get the stall. feels like i'm moving to my left to get it and just can't figure out the timing. i vid taped this one but i was too close to the camera and you couldn't see my feet so i deleted it. i'll try and get that on tape next sesh.
 clipper>osis - had one decent one on strongside.

so, overall i think it was a productive sesh. i am going to continue to drill in the mornings during the work week and shred every other day. haven't really worked on atws lately. really trying to focus on mirage, legover and clipper. prob need to just drill them a little bit at the end of every sesh.

i took nick's advice about my vid's being too long and just show the highlights. what i did was just record each trick after i had been drilling it for a while. then i just spliced them together on my phone to make one shorter highlight video. let me know what you guys see. i feel like my posture was better this sesh (i've been really working on that). toe stalls are getting more solid but my flip looks flimsy still.

:footbag: Best Video Yet :footbag:

(Obviously)

Such Controlled Clippers
Consistent Mirages
Legover on Both sides
Absolutely Controlled B2B Toe
Loved the last string
I think I watched the whole video 3 times.
You aren't at the same level anymore.
:!: Challenge: Legover, Clipper, Toe and Mirage all BSOS in a string. You can do it, Even if its not tomorrow or this week even. You already have toe, legover bsos, now all you need to do is add some clippers and the mirages and you got it. keep drilling because you are getting so much better. More Proper form and all that. sheesh.

Can't watch video on my phone, but I will when I get home. I did want to reply and say that I have drilled at 5 in the morning before too. 5-7 am/pm are the time slots that vasek mentions in the Footbag Bible. He said the earth has the most powerful vibrations at those times. Then he takes another bong hit lol jk but he said those are the times that you should be drilling. I think he's right. I've accomplished a lot around those time slots. Sounds like you did too. Stick with that for a while and see where it takes you. Also, yeah, Dobbs like you had done great highlights during this session. Can't wait to check out the video.

How closer are you too Virginia? River rock jam is this weekend. Some local dudes and I are gonna take a day trip down on Saturday. You should go if its not too far ( my geography is terrible lol)

Treat Mirages like a race between your dex leg and the bag.

You want your dex leg to get down to the ground just before the bag hits your final stalling foot. I think that will really help you think about what you're doing.

Getting there dude. Keep it up.

this saturday's session was incredible. all week i had visualized the tricks in my head and i think that's why i had such a good sesh (thx nick for telling me to do that long ago, it fucking works!!!)

i also made a point to stay on my toes the whole session as well. didn't have any shin splints after the sesh. gotta stay on the toes. my jumpers knee flared up again so i wasn't able to drill flip clip at all. i have to keep stretching during the week.

on to the highlights...

 toe stalls - had a run of 85 to start the sesh off with. then at the end i choked and dropped at 97. i was pissed!!! took a little break and then had a run of 4 and then 7... then i just didn't think about it and got into a rhythm and hit 114 consecutives!!!! yeaaaaa booooyyyyy!!!!
 atw - worked on these a little bit both sides. flip is getting better.
 orbit - first time hitting these both sides
 legovers - finally hit these b2b. bag is getting slower or my dex is getting cleaner
 mirage - wasn't able to hit these b2b but did have a run of 8 mirage>hand catch rpt. flipside 5x hand rpt
 toe>clipper>mirage - finally got the hang of these. thx nick for the tip of a race between my dex leg and the bag. that helped a ton!!
 clipper - hit 5 consecutives strongside. couldn't drill flip because of knee.

i think that was about it. didn't film cause i just wanted to concentrate on drilling these. may is going to be the month of mirage and legovers. i also think that i am ready to start trying to string some shit together. that was a challenge for me from metzelrio (toe, mirage, legover, clipper). i haven't even tried a string yet but i'm hoping i can do it.

i am also getting lonely playing by myself. i contacted david who lives in raleigh (only one i know that kicks) to see if he wanted to do a session. he hasn't played in a while because of an injury but said he def wants to hook up in june (has shit going on during the weekends in may). i would love to start a raleigh club here. gonna see if david knows anyone else that plays.

that is all for now. til next time...

had another early morning session. was pretty tired and took me a bit to get into it. thought it was an ok sesh.

highlights:

 toe stalls - 155 consecutives. just started going and got to 100 and said, let's beat previous 114, then beat that and got to around 130 and said, let's go for 150. got that and was tired and my hips were killing me.
 legovers - still getting there but felt like i was attacking the bag which made my dex much quicker.
 mirage - still trying to get that dex foot down first before stall
 clipper - 8x consecutive strong side. 5x consecutive flip side (first time ever consecs on flip side. jumpers knee still bothering me)
 far clipper - first time! footed to flip side. i'll take it.

one of these sessions this week i need to dedicate to strings. not sure if i can do them or not. i may need to keep drilling mirage and legovers so i have something to string together.

Re: Double AA's Footblog - My First String!!!

Post by akprice »

so i had a horrible session last saturday. i think there were many factors at play here though. first, my wife and i haven't been on a date in months. we finally found a college student in our neighborhood to babysit for us. needless to say i had too many gin and tonics that night so sat morning i was a little hungover. i had no stamina at all. i also had taken a week off from footbag because of my fucking jumpers knee. so, the session didn't last very long and i really made no progress in anything. even my clippers were giving me fits.

was hoping to erase that session with a good one yesterday. i controlled my drinking on sunday and even went to bed early. my stamina was still not that good (maybe cause i just haven't gotten into a good routine lately). i'm still smoke free so that has nothing to do with it.

i did have some good highlights:

 mirage - slowly getting better. still having issues with set after the delay to go into another one.
 legovers - staying on my toes really helped. i felt quicker and these are coming along better than mirages. able to do b2b.
 far clipper - footed a far clipper, so clipper>far clipper (let me know if this terminology is wrong, still not sure on that)
 FIRST STRING!!! - toe>clipper>osis>toe>toe>toe>toe>op clipper>osis (again is term right here?) not exactly pretty and a few toe stalls thrown in but none-the-less a string and involving osis!!

so analogy of the string... everything seems rushed especially my osis. need to hold it longer and it also looks like a sweep instead of a stall. thoughts anyone??? it's weird that i am finding osis easier to come out of clipper than mirage or legover. maybe osis is going to come easy for me (god i hope so).

looking forward to going to massachusetts next thursday for 6 days!! going on my first trip with my biological mom (vicki). i am adopted and found her about 6 or 7 years ago. our relationship has really grown. my adoptive mom died a few years ago from alzheimers. vicki and i see each other at least once a year when our families get together but it's hard to get some real one-on-one time with her when the whole family is together. so i proposed that we do a vacation together just by ourselves. we picked the new england area since neither of us have been. we are staying in a b&b in marblehead, ma. plan on doing a lot of photography and historical stuff. also going to my first major league baseball game friday. have seen every other major sport but baseball and where better to go to your first than fucking fenway park! should be a blast.

i am also amped to meet with bob green and kevin hogan on saturday to shred. they both live close to marblehead and agreed to drive down and meet me there so we could kick together. i have seen kevin shred from the absolutely fucking massivechusetts: part I with nick polini. he is incredible! i haven't seen bob shred yet but reading his blog, he is just getting back into the sport. he is way ahead of me though so i'm looking for tips from them and hopefully be able to put a couple of strings together while i'm there. we shall see. if not, it will be great to meet a couple more footbaggers.

Thoughts on osis.. Osis ends in a clipper and it should feel that way. It doesn't end in an osis.. Even though it might feel like it's own motion. Try a few sessions of Osis frozen for 3 seconds, do the same thing with clippers while you're at it. Props on the first string buddy! that's how you do it :)
