Then Matt Cross, then Jorden... then all the other people I told I would stitch footbags for. It's going to be a long time until I can actually make money on these things.

Yea, I'd rather it if we just traded bags, that way my collection grows! I just realized that that picture in your sig does you no justice. Is that the one that was cropped from a video?
I got to shred with Adam Czarnata and Jorden yesterday, I don't think I've played with either of them since GLASS, but it was nice to see them play again. Adam has gotten a lot better at legovers and pickups, and Jordens legs were Destroying like usual. His runs are just like... WHA?! They're soo unique it makes me want to learn everything. I can't remember the last time that I shred with Jorden and he didn't invent something. How fucked up is that.
I on the other hand wasn't shredding very well. Probably because of multiple unfavorable factors. I haven't played in a week, besides filming move demos. I have a REALLY messed up cold, and thats why I haven't played. It was like -10C outside, which didn't seem to bother Jorden, but I can't deal with that kind of shit. I can feel it today the day after, I think it made my cold mucho worse. I did hit some alright short strings. Close to Nemesis. Jorden got it all on video so you might see some of it online sometime.
I stayed home from school yesterday because I wasn't feeling it, but It was kind of a bad day for me to do that. I missed my first Chem test, as well as a summative that is worth like 30% of my final. I also didn't get to hand in an essay. On top of all of that if I miss 15 minutes of any of these classes I'm completely lost. I guess I'll just have to catch up somehow.
I've got A LOT of demos filmed and uploaded to my computer, but I can't find it in me to upload them all to the internet because thats more work than I'm willing to do at this point.
So march break is in another week, and as long as my cold goes away I'll be heading down to T.O. for a day or two to shred and hangout with everyone. Jon Haber might be there, and Jorden expressed some interest in going. I'm sure it'll be a great time. I miss GLASS, so hopefully this visit will give me my fix.

Wow footbag is such a tease when you're sick. I just played for like 15 minutes a little while ago, and I was DONE. I wish I had crazy stamina even when I was sick.

This weekend was BOMB. That about sums it up really, but that wouldn't make for a very interesting blog entry.
After long months of solo-shredding (and not shredding at all) with infrequent 2man sessions, I finally got to shred with some more people! Playing with other shredders after not doing so for a while is such a treat. But it wasn't really the shred that is all that memorable to me but the stupid jokes and everything else.
The train to Toronto was a bit delayed because someone drove infront of a freight train, and all the other trains were slightly backed up. Once I got there though, it was awesome. Camille and I were there first, we shred for a while before Jon showed up. I can't remember hitting anything super crazy, but it didn't really matter because I was having fun, and playing footbag really wasn't the only reason I went to TO in the first place.
Eventually more shredders showed up, and plenty of fun was had. Everyone (nearly, its too bad everyone couldn't stick around) head out for some eating and pool. I was playing pool better than I expected so I had a fun night. When we did end up leaving to go to sleep it was quite late but it really didn't matter to anyone it seemed, because we stayed up even later afterwards just laughing uncontrollably about everything including but not limited to: who is going to be the big spoon, the guy sleeping above us with a (shh!) sleeping disorder, dead babies, and the oddities of SuperBAP. One RPS match later the sleeping arrangement was decided and that was the night.
The second day really didn't start until 2pm, because everyone was sleeping and getting ready to leave. Camille, Jon and I eventually left and spent easily an hour wandering around for food. The shred wasn't as good because we played too much the day before, but still it was plenty of fun.
We went back to andrews place and watched some oldschool VHS footbag videos. It seems like back in 2002-3 there were so many shredders that bust extremely phat even by todays standards. Risden is god.
The third day started as late and problems with the subway made us have even less time to play. We headed to Union as quick as possible and we all started to play. I don't know what it is about the last day of a Jam but I seem to always play 1000% better (this probably sounds like complete bullshit but its true). It happened this weekend and at GLASS. Maybe it was the footbag videos from the night before, maybe it is to have the last little bit of fun before I have to leave back to Brantford where footbag is extinct, or maybe it was a fluke, but it happened, and I was hitting stuff I hadn't even thought of before. It sounds like a good thing playing harder but it really sucked because I knew it would be over all too soon. Jon kept delaying his departure because he didn't want to leave. Little crowds were forming. I rarely get this attention, and for the first time I kind of fed off of it. I was hitting some of the longest runs I have in a long time, and Jon was still trying to deny the fact that he had to leave, and Camille put out some of the longest and most controlled strings I've seen come from her. It was fun, and then it was over.
Definitely a great weekend no doubt in my mind, the most fun I think I've ever had playing footbag. I'm going to push my game harder and try and make it out to more of these jams, and I look forward to when some of these jams come to me.
I thought I really knew the people who I was going to see in Toronto. I realized a lot more about them than I first did.
Jon has an awesome sense of humor! I knew this before but, its like he can talk about anything and make it really funny. He also knows a LOT about alcohol, which became apparent when he reviewed every beverage available at the LCBO.
Camille is one of those people that makes it impossible to be anything but happy. She too has an awesome sense of humor, and is really fun to hang around with. Its nice to shred with a girl for a change, especially one this determined! I swear she must have tried whirl a bajillion times without giving up.
Andrew was injured but he still shred anyway for a bit. I could see him itching to play more even though he knew it was a bad idea. I never knew he was such a health fanatic! I really respect him for having self control not to eat junk food day in and day out. Heal soon!
Oh I almost forgot. While I was in TO I saw the angriest man I've seen in my entire life. He was snarling and walking fast, and when he did stand still he was rocking back and forth. Damn this guy looked angry. So angry I couldn't help but laugh and take a picture. I'll post that soon. He needs to relax and play some footbag.
On a different note, I've decided to start selling footbags! I got a BUNCH of material in finally after waiting for ages. I'll probably make a much more formal post in the Bags and Equip section, but this is just a heads up. Everyone can PM me or email me at john_suderman at hotmail.com. I just figured out a good size that I'm happy with, and I think I'm using the best filler available to me right now, The last bag I made was by FAR the best bag I've ever made, but I'm still making improvements. Stay tuned.

I haven't had much time at all to do anything but schoolwork, stitching, and sleeping, but today I managed to squeeze in some shred at school.
I rarely play at school so all the Grade 9's are totally unaware concerning footbag. Its cool to know you can still impress people, after not doing so for a LONG time.
The bigger of the two school sessions I had today was during gym class. We ran 5k for time, and then from that time it was pretty much a free gym class. I ran the 5, then decided I'd shred a bit then hit the weight room for a while. My legs felt clunky at first but the run was definitely a good warmup.
Some "new" stuff includes mainly Fearless-esque stuff.

No luck on the paypal yet, but I'll try to get on that pronto. I need to get some info from my bank and then I should be set. I'm kind of afraid I won't be able to keep up with the orders when I do get paypal, so maybe I'm subconsiously screwing things up.
And david, I would post more, but I rarely have time lately. I'm considering early morning (before school) shred, but its sooo hard to get the motivation to get up early. When I play more I'll post more.
As for fairy advice, I may not be the guy to ask, I suck at giving advice. I'll try however... You really want to catch the footbag so it is directly below your knee or a bit further in closer to your body. Then its all about lifting straight up keeping your lower leg in the exact same position. Then when your upper leg is level you should stop lifting your leg abruptly and then just point your knee inwards, and move your lower leg a bit away from your body, kind of with a kicking motion. Thats what I concentrate on when I schooled my flip. Hope it helps.
Oh and I just had another mini session schooling double pickups and reapers. It wasn't very fun. I schooled barraging a bit too, and hit Fury on both sides a hand ful of times. I think I can duck my quantum.

I am interested to know how well beads are able to be added to and removed from your bags. You gott keep in mind that not all bag buyers will like your fill, even if they like the bag. They'll want to add and remove and your stitching must allow for this. Is it easy to mod the filler in your bags or are the hex>hex seam openings too small?
Also, I notice that you are making 8 stitches per seam. IMO, this is 2 stiches more than is necessary for a good 32 panel bag. What are your thoughts on 6 vs 8 stitches per seam? have you tried both and settled on 8? And if so, why?

If got a bag here that is broken in and its kind of a hassle to remove the bbs but the beads can be removed with a straw. I hate when bags lose fill, and mine definitely don't now. I might change the hex-hex side to be slightly larger, but it is working fine for me now.
As for the 8 stitches. I used to stitch 6, then switched. Now I think they look nicer, and since there is a smaller distance between stitches, I can sew with less of a flange (without worrying about the material pulling through). Also the bag doesn't expand as much during breakin, which is nice because you can see the size of the final product by looking at a brand new bag.
So far so good. If someone still wants bags sewn with 6 stitches, that can be arranged.

I've started warming up and stretching before, and while I play so far its made big a big difference, although no one else could probably notice...
I must also say that I'm extremely psyched for spring! Its awesome to just stroll on outside and have a shred whenever. I really missed being about to do that. Hopefully the club will shred more, were all scattered at the moment.
I've made up my mind. I'm either going to go to the shrEdmonton Jam (shredding with everyone) or Funtastik(shredding with cleaver), maybe even both. I just need to make some money and not spend it on food!

Mxyzptlk is fucking intense! Its a simple move concept wise just Bubba Butterfly right? But when you hit that bubba and the bag just keeps on coming up, I swear it si the BEST feeling.
