I disagree. If the only trick I could hit was Clownface or Nemesis and I came in and hit that at six competitions a year for 3 or 4 years straight then I would hope to god that I couldn't possibly win every single time.

Obviously Vasek has a much wider range of moves and is capable of pulling them out of his hat at will. We all know it and we've all seen it for years now. I think it's reasonable to expect that a wider variety can and should be hit. Otherwise it becomes "ho hum". If we are talking about IMO and WOW as a judging criteria then it's reasonable to say to yourself as a judge "Hmmm, I've seen that combo a bazillion times already. All the dexes are on the same side...again. How about something fresh and varied."

So your saying the judges would do this?

"hmm...ive seen Vasek hit this combo so many times....he hit this one in worlds 2003 as well. Its technically better than some of the other combo's but because ive seen him hit this before then ill let someone else take 1st spot because ive never seen it and its pretty good."

If vasek happens to hit these tricks all the time and he wins, then so be it. He deserves to win if he beats the others in terms of creativity, difficulty, and execution, not Past

Ryan deserved to win since he beat the others in terms of creativity, difficulty, and execution, not future.

Great comment. Awesome

Worlds 2003:

Vasek : Montage > whirlwind > spinning pdx blender  Wins
Random n00b : ripwalk > ripwalk > blur

Worlds 2004:

Vasek : Montage > whirlwind > spinning pdx blender  wins again
Random n00b : blurry whirl > ripwalk > pogo pdx mirage

Worlds 2005:
Vasek : Montage > whirlwind > spinning pdx blender  wins again with same combo
Random N00b : ps whirl > haze > toe set ducking whirl

Who wins? Well i know that difficulty was very unrealistic but i was just trying to point out that even if vasek uses Montage > whirlwind > spinning pdx blender and he beats others in terms of difficulty creativity and execution then he should win!!!!!! 8)

lol.

Oh yeah and by the way i had a sick 3 contest today with my friends at school:

Sam : ducking butt > pdx mirage > butt
Nathan : toe > clipper > op toe
Alex: blurry whirl > ducking clipper > barfly

in which i came 3rd cos my judges have seen it too much

anyways im clearly making too much of a big deal out of this topic, sorry i was VERY VERY bored :?

But yeah staying on topic, i managed to dwl all of the vids now, and they all rock! Especially Vaseks shred semi finals and the sick 3 video quality is awesome!

Okay well obviously none of the random noobs could beat Vasek. Vasek is amazing, but incredibly boring. I'm sorry, but he is. He was amazing in 2001, back in the teaser video. I don't know if you've seen that, but it was just some random 14 year old kid, blowing our minds. After that, it's retarded. My friends and I watched Sick 03 and played a game - everytime Vasek does a move incorporating whirl, you say "whirl." It's a stupid game. The point is, he is way too heavily whirl-based. It's like whirls and party tricks. I want to see more toe-to-toe. That's really all. I love Vasek. If I ever met him I would shake his hand. I wouldn't hesitate to be realistic and tell him I'd like to see toe-to-toe, because really, I think he's a great footbagger and he deserves to have won the last 3 titles. But not in 2002.

I don't even know if your comment about my post was serious or not, but my post was serious, in a way.

I don’t agree completely to this discussion about Vaska always hitting the same combos in Big3.

Vaska won the big3 in 2003 by hitting Montage – Whirlwind – Montage rake. I filmed/witness it and the experience was pretty awesome.

http://www.footbagdenmark.dk/images/fil ... gest-3.mpg

At the Euros in 2004 Vaska won by hitting Janiwalker-Superfly-Frontside Symp. Flurry
He also hit Ripstein – Bedwetter – Fairy swirling symp. mirage at that occasion.

This year at the Euros he won by hitting Blurry whirling swirl – Whirlwind - Stepping whirling swirl

Vaska told me that he hit Alpine whirlgig – Montage – Montage rake on the sideline just before entering the stage at Worlds big3 finals in Helsinki. Actually I don’t care if they are all whirl related tricks because who else are able to pull off links of 7–7–8 adds tricks?

Thanks to all the amazing organizers, players and other Finish people with whom we had a great time at this years Worlds. Can’t wait to see all of ya next year.

Peace & love

I don't know about you, but I would like to own any trick like Vasek owns whirls. Who cares if Vasek uses whirls a lot? It's not like he can't do anything else...need I say Superduperfly > symp. flurry? Everyone has their style and I personally think Vasek has one of the best styles. I wish that when someone thought of a trick they thought of me because I was so good at them. For example when I think symp. eggbeaters, Pinkus comes to mind. Why would I tell Pinkus to stop doing toe-toe tricks? That's what he's best at and that's when he does the sickest strings.
...Vasek is amazing, but incredibly boring....I wouldn't hesitate to be realistic and tell him I'd like to see toe-to-toe...
Last time I checked, footbag isn't about making sure the people who watch you are entertained. It's about doing tricks that you think are fun. For most people, almost all people, the tricks they are naturally good at are more fun. So if he's boring, don't watch him, but don't tell him to change his game because you want to be more entertained.

Sorry if this sounded mean, but I get the feeling that a lot of people dis Vasek's style just because they want to sound "cool" by being different from everyone else.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

Too bad a lot of the people who like Vasek are just trying to be cool too.

Naturally Pinkus has great symp. eggbeaters. I love Pinkus' style. I'm just trying to say that I like styles like that more than Vasek's. I don't think there's anything wrong with that whatsoever.

Footbag is a sport, and if I feel like I could suggest something to Vasek that he might consider, why not? I dno't mean to say that I'd tell him to stop doing whirls. You're right, he rocks at them. But after a while it is boring.

But hey, we can have our differing opinions, and that's fine.

Hey, Vasek rocks. There, I said it.
