Kicked with Jake, Matt and Josh G. David C. dropped by to say hello also. There is talk of kicking with him on Thursday, when he won't be preoccupied entertaining a young lady.
Session was good.
Josh:
*wonton DLO
*Flail-wonton mirage
*stepping barrage-flail
etc
Matt:
*usual nonsense, just longer and better. I wouldn't know where to start or how to do it justice
Jake
*pulled together a nice jam-was good kicking with him again
Me:
*DSO-Wauxpin
*some good strings
* whirls and rev. whirls were on point
*8-10 eclipses b2b, first try
* Stepping set was strong on left side
*dynos are a great new emphasis in my game

I wish I could find the pics of Matt on that one girl's facebook page so I could post'em up on here. ha
BTW, cheers to the lame arts festival attendees who would spend 6 dollars on an 8 ounce smoothie, but wouldn't put money in our busking hat after having formed a half circle around us and applauding after everyone's runs. Ah well, at least we made people happy.

Kicked with Matt and Dave for the first time in PGH. Had a great time.
Personal highlights:
*Ducking wauxpin-string. Ducking wauxpin again next serve-string
*Right side blur and left side ripwalk same string
*DSO-wauxspin
*A few calm, more graceful spins (as encouraged by Dave- who had great advice as usual)
*Some long and nice strings
Dave hit ducking wauxpin on both sides, and plenty of other great tricks/strings.
Matt hit paradox tapping drifter for the first time and plenty more

Kicked with Matt outside in tornado weather. He'll swear on a dystopian novel that it was only drizzle but he will be lying to you.
Highlights:
*Matt lying about the amount of rain we kicked in
*The disgusting, sloped, drop-off area of a hospital we kicked in for the second half of the session
*Wrapping my infested footbag in an old utility bill so that my shoulder bag would not be too infected
*Blackouts, lightening and pizza
*Matt hit some cool stuff as usual
Personal highlights:
*Wauxpin first try-string-weakside simple swirl
*Rev. whirl-weakside simple swirl
*Ripwalks on weak side
*Hit dyno a very different way. Set it twirl height executed it in much more aggressive manner. Had much more control of it in the end. I will look into this more
*Swirling osis, first try- so clean
Coded so much in the last couple days!!! So many things that I have bee struggling with are coming together. I am quite happy.
Did I mention Pizza? We had pizza. Mmm.

Kicked with Dave, Jake and Matt. Fun session, though Matt and I are still recovering from yesterday. I would post some gooey highlights of Dave's efforts but he has his own neglected blog and I don't want to risk stealing anyone's thunder.
Personal highlights (and they are short today)
*Got a short haircut (told you so)
*WauxpinX2, on two occaisions
*ripwalk to simple swirl
*DSO- tripwalk-drop
*one particular 24 contact string
*fun with building abstractions in max/msp

Kicked with Matt. Last session before a month of installing for a major show at the Wood Street Galleries (don't know much about the show as of yet, but I hope it's going to be good.) So, I paced myself considerably. Also, I wanted to try out some ideas that Dave has recently suggested for me to consider. Mostly I concentrated on these.
Highlights:
*consecutive one/two add tricks, trying to force myself to hold the bag longer without losing balance or becoming anxious. Discovered that I am not putting any resistant force at all when I land, other than with my knee. I am trying to learn how to actively incorporate a bit of downwards force with my calves so that I can stick the bag in place, upon impact, and control it there long enough to casually set a swirl, dyno, spinning set, etc.
*tiltless drills. Super important if I ever want to develop a toe game
*butterfly-ripwalk, multiple times on my good stepping side
*roughly ten weak-side ripwalks, including ripwalk bsos twice, and 5/6 tries at the end of the session. It seems that I need to catch the bag like I am going to hit (my strong side blur) so that I initially stick the clipper lower, cocked and with better posture. Then I have to make sure to set the bag closer in, straighter than I think I have to- if not slightly away from the completing infinity side. This will enable me to more comfortably distribute my weight (better, more natural form) as I come down with the infinity (since I like to make my infinities on the larger side.)
*Dynos are looking sharp. I have been setting them twirl height (to internalize/muscle-memorize the lower-than-I-might-think timing of that set) and making a differently efficient down time motion. Rather than than my old style, where 25% of the trick was popping the bag slight towards my setting legs calve, and the last 75% forcing my body around the bag I now have a more efficient manner. 75% of my effort goes into setting the bag at a proper twirl height- weighting for it to peak and taking note of its accuracy. Then, the last 25% is shared between two simultaneous motions, that are casually distributed between the two sides of my by body: Coming around the bag on one leg, and hopping into osis with the other. If done correctly (and this may necessitate a quicker or more agrgessive attack for the down time component) I should be able to this system of motions so that the bag sticks. Programming this into my long-term memory seem quite realistic.
*Hit two new moves (variations of them) both first try: muted far butterfly swirl
*Pm-inf.-simple swirl-to stall-osis, first try. Then, immediately afterwards-
*Pm-inf.-simple swirl-osis, x5
*Practiced weak side simple swirl. Hit a couple
*swirls, bsos twice in the ss, and bsos multiple times
*Most of my runs today were quite reserved and limited to schooling components (much like my last session- the third session in three day, but this time on a whole other, conscious and active level.) I did, however, bust a few strings today and they were each reasonable in length. Two of them I was happy with enough that I hand-grabbed the bag, rather than compromise the integrity of my form.
Back to work.

Kicked with Jeff, Josh and Dave at Heinz Lofts

*tapdown-ducking wauxspin-string-first try
*torque bsos (forgot about these)
*couple ws ripwalks

Kicked with Matt in a new location: Arsenal Park. From Friendship to Arsenal- Just like that. Kind of reminds me of my day at work.
Arsenal park is sweet. It's actually a park and it is three blocks from my house. The tennis courts are completely manageable as well.
Highlights:
*Ducking inf. X8
*ws s swirl- string- s swirl- string- ws s swirl
*Strings with both ducking inf.
*string with ducking clipper- div. clipper- rpt- string- other stuff (I forget)
*frozen weak rip
*strings with w step side blur and strong rip
*multiple weak wauxpins
*ws spin clip-pm-wxspn-inf-ducking clipper-ws s swirl (hit this finally after hitting all but the last move other times)
*string with about 10-15 ducking moves, etc
*tripwalk-string
*really nice ripstein but dropped on the seal
Now to try and finish some freelance work that I was too exhausted to work on after all of this construction I had to do at the galleries.

Nils passed away. Matt and I went to the funeral today. I was hesitant at first to post about it because so few knew him, but then I thought- it's really so unfortunate that this was the case.
Nils was someone that I really hoped to get to know better. He was a very nice, thoughtful, engaging, intelligent, funny and creative individual. The list could seriously go on for a long time. I am completely caught of guard by this. I feel incredibly bad for his friends and family. I had hoped to see Tyler tonight but it did not happen. Hopefully I will be in touch with him soon.
It takes me a while to accept that these sorts of things happened. Nils was not close to me but I thought very highly of him. Taking things for granted. Taking life for granted. Pettiness. Why?
I will post here in the blog, the same place I met you: You are missed, man. I hope I can catch up with you again sometime.
