HEYA! I haven't given that someone the good news -hint hint nudge nudge wink wink- about the something something something on that day when he does that thing and I do that follow up with that thing and people can see that thing. And everyone can be happy and someone can brag be too. Oh yes same to you but you know whats going on

DO not take this in any weird perverted psychotic context, this is a project I'm working on with a certain group. :D even though that sounded a biit... um.. psychotic?

I'll be coming down to Santa Cruz too footbag with the club sometime this month. On another note, when are you guys going to trek up to Stanford? I could give a ride if needed :D Though I'm still getting used to the whole Cali area so maybe not.

Peace

P.s.

If you divulge any information on this, specially trained Ninja assasin cyborg Foxes will sneak into your room and do the worst. You will find nailed to your wall shredded footbags, and lying next to you in bed. Also as you awake will lying next to you in a Godfather fashion will be only the tongue of your lavers. :D but I have no knowledge of who what how or why or where these Ninja Assasin Foxes come from.

Thanks Tom. :-) Hiya.

JAMES RANDALL, hello Sir. You have good timing, see you soon.

I do know what's going on, and that's great, thanks for keeping me updated. :D

Tongue of my lavers, haha. Eric, if you can make it on Saturday or Sunday Jon Schneider should be in town.* I think he's going to the Tuesday Stanford session too. I appreciate the ride offer, but we are terribly out of your way and Fletch and I both have school on Tuesday, and Jeremy works at a school M-F, which is why none of the three of us have been able to come visit you guys at Stanford. Either way, can't wait to kick with you soon.

*If you don't make it, he will probably still be in town. ;-)

The other reason I haven't come to visit on other days of the week is that my car situation has been interesting. Let me talk about that for a moment.
  • For a long time my Mazda wasn't well. The main thing that was bad was the transmission, which I had replaced three or so years ago. Then engine was dying slowly according to the mechanics, the rear drums needed work or to be replaced before I could replace the breaks, and it failed smog. The mechanics all told me that it wasn't worth fixing. Yup.

I borrowed friend's Volvo for a week or two while figuring out what new used car I could buy. It's a 1994 Saab 900S, 2 door dark green, p/windows, locks, sun roof. :D Standard transmission, and I've always wanted to own one so I could learn to drive them better. And it's cute to boot! I'm so happy with it. I'll post a pic soon.

I picked it up on Monday then went to work. When I left work my boss said "I hope this car works out for you and doesn't have things breaking all the time like your last car," which did have a ton of stuff wrong with it. It was just tired and well used. And rusty from that Chicago winter road salt. Anyway, I went home, then took my car to the carwash and splurged on the $13.95 service which included washing the outside and vacuuming the inside. Wooo!

(Deleted.) Long story short: After less than an hour behind the wheel, it stopped going in reverse. The replacement transmission will be in on Monday. I didn't break it, it was about to give out when I got it. The dashboard lights, odometer, and radio/clock all stopped working properly on that same first day. They're fixed, and by Wed. I'll have a car that can back out of parking spaces!

Wow, three things broken on the 1st day. But getting a new transmission without getting charged for parts and labor is like getting a much newer car.

Dustin and I played at UCSC on Friday. J-a-z-z-dash-e-l-l-e and her band-mate played (music) as well. They made us smile the whole time. Dustin played well and ended with impromptu shred 30's, was fun to watch. I didn't do anything good as far as I remember.

Max and I played at Frederick St. Park on Sunday. He learned the timing for toe stalls, then worked on ATW most of the session, and tried mirage at the end. Don't remember what else. Oh yeah, awesome 4-square before net or freestyle started. Angel, EJ, Max, Zach, Fletch and Emily. Way fun.

Then Fletch and I went to the Boardwalk because someone gave me two all day ride passes. We went on rollercoasters, the sky ride and of course the one of a kind merry-go-round. It was featured on some tv program that I saw before I visited SC when I was 15 or something.

:D Oh man keeping things on the inside totally rule, makes be feel like a kiddie again with the super secert clubs!

ANyways, I could make it Saturday, as Sunday is filled already. If not then I'm driving down next week for sure.

Did you name your car yet? Maybe thats why, it feels sad and neglected.

Peace

Not to be a pessimist, but:
. . . getting a new transmission without getting charged for parts and labor is like getting a much newer car
is not quite accurate.

Its more like getting a new transmission on a well-worn car.

I hope that none of those "well-worn" aspects of your Saab never rear their "need-to-be repaired" heads.

Thursday night I went to Jeremy's to had a session in his garage. It had been a long time since just the two of us schooled, it was fun. I worked on flip illusions, gyro clipper>gyro clipper, and some other stuff that escapes me at the moment. The session ended, and Jeremy began slashing innocent sunscreen bottles and Saltine packets. It was a glorious night, only dampened by this song by Toy-Box:
...deep in the jungle in the land of adventure live tarzan...

oh e yo e yay...
i am jane and i love to ride an elephant.
my name is tarzan i am jungle man.
the tree tops swing-a from jungle land.
come baby come i will take you for a swing.
let's go honey i'm tink-a-ling.

tarzan is handsome tarzan is strong.
he's really cute and his hair is long.
tarzan is handsome tarzan is strong.
so listen to the jungle song.

oh e yo e oh e yo e oh e yo e yay...
i am tarzan from jungle you can be my friend.
oh e yo e oh e yo e oh e yo e yay...
i am jane and i love to ride an elephant.

when you touch me i feel funny.
i feel it too when you're touching me.
come to my tree house to my party.
yes i'll go if you carry me.

tarzan is handsome full of surprise.
he's really cute and his hair is nice.
tarzan is handsome tarzan is strong.
so listen to the jungle song.

oh e yo e oh e yo e oh e yo e yay...
i am tarzan from jungle you can be my friend.
oh e yo e oh e yo e oh e yo e yay...
i am jane and i love to ride an elephant.
yeah...

go cheetah get banana.
hey monkey get funky.

swing along tarzan...go cheet.
ah get banana.
hey monkey get funky.

when i am dancing i feel funky.
why do you keep ignoring me.
tarzan is here, come kiss me baby.
coochie coochie kiss me tenderly.
tarzan is handsome tarzan is strong - me tarzan.
he's really cute and his hair is long - long hair.
tarzan is handsome tarzan is strong.
so listen to the jungle song.

oh e yo e oh e yo e oh e yo e yay...
i am tarzan from jungle you can be my friend.
oh e yo e oh e yo e oh e yo e yay...
i am jane and i love to ride an elephant.

you go...

go cheetah get banana.
hey monkey get funky.

oh e yo e oh e yo e oh e yo e yay...
i am jane and i love to ride an elephant.

.... and so they got funky but will tarzan have jane...
stay tuned......
Thank you, Jeremy Mirken.

Jonathan Schneider (Outsider) came to town to crash at Fletch's place to and kick/hang with us from Friday night until Sunday evening. It was nice seeing him again, the last time was when he was in SF and I met him, Ahren, and Carol for a session at the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park. I don't remember much about that session, except feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable with my consecutive kicks. Carol had a new bag and Jon suggested just doing consecutives for a while to warm up or something. They were talking about how nice it is to kind of meditate or zone out when doing consecutives. I don't know how many I could do, but it was not many at all.

The other thing I remembered when thinking about it was that when I went to see The Life Aquatic with them, I kind of ditched a guy I was supposed to meet for dinner. I was going to call him to let him know I would be late, but realized I had to just cancel. It was maybe 5:30pm and he didn't answer, so I left a message saying I was really sorry and I'd make dinner for him next time. I had broken plans with him for something footbag related once before. He never called me back. I soon reconsidered where I had my priorities, but realized that I did what I wanted to do with hanging out with Ahren and everyone. I still felt bad.

Friday Dustin and I usually play around 4:45 or 5pm on campus, but it didn't quite work out. BUT,

Fletch wanted to kick when Jon got into town. So the four of us did. We went to UCSC and played on a tennis court with fantastic user-friendly lights. While walking from the parking lot to the courts there were five or so deer maybe 35 feet from us.* Our music died but it was nice having a more laid back feeling, especially since it was pretty, dark and starry. Although there was some humming and singing, which is not the norm for a footbag circle, but it was awesome just the same.

*I'm pretty terrible with guessing distances.

Dustin and I were warm up buddies, while Fletch and Jon warmed up and started shredding. I don't remember hitting much. Some strings with a few 4's, but not any amazing combos for me. Oh yeah, my string in Fletch's new video is not reflective of my level in real life. It was on good string over 3 days of filming. Just so you don't get the wrong idea.

Anyway, the session ended and my water bottle made the coolest noise when I opened it. Don't worry, Dustin heard it too and will vouch for it.

Saturday Jonathan, Dustin, Jeremy, Fletch and I played at Porter College on the UCSC campus. This guy started smoking while sitting on the side of the platform we were playing on, and he asked if he could join in. 1 point for him. I asked if he minded finishing the cigarette first. He didn't mind, and joined when he was done. 2 points. Not only did he try, but he also spent the next hour and a half or so trying stalls by himself outside the main circle. 3 points. He broke a sweat. That's great, awesome enthusiasm for someone's first time seeing freestyle. I made some suggestions for easier toe stalls and inside stalls, and he kept practicing by himself. His name is Pat.

Fletch played on Fri and Sat, but he also got a lot of footage which he used to make SC’s newest video. I played by myself a little, but didn't feel like I had much in me. I'm sure it's because I had just played two days in a row, and this was my third. I know, kind of pathetic, but kind of okay anyway. I was planning on playing Sunday too, so I didn't care that much. I just had fun.

I went out for the Saturday night before Halloween, and ended up accidentally drinking way too many energy drinks over the course of the night. I didn't get to sleep until after 5am, including the time change.

Sunday my right leg nerve was too tight, probably from footbag + walking around in heels while dressed up. I will probably post a picture of my Halloween costume in here soon. Anyway, I tried to circle kick-ish with Dustin, Jon, and Fletch, but it was not working at all since I couldn't really move my right leg without it pinching. Three days in a row seems good enough for me. I'll wait until Wed. to session again. Dustin hit some excellent sick 1/3's.

Pat came out to Frederick St. Park and played some net (before I got there late) then tried consecutive inside kicks and toe/inside stalls.

I've hit legbeater to a string a handful of times over the last week and a half, but it's hard not to pdx mirage out of it because that's what feels the most natural. Flip needs some work, and it's slowly getting it.

Hey I had to kick to something didn't I? :D but more importantly...

Oh man that noise was awesome. Look everybody this is me backing Emily up. You think your water bottle has made a cool noise? Trust Emily this one was cooler.

All those sessions were a ton of fun I'm glad Fletcher (did you help to?) made the video for them.

I like your session recaps from the weekend. Jon is a good guy to play with.

Also just wanted to thank you for your hard work for modified. You take a lot of unnecessary, unfair criticism, but you still come back and put in the work, much of which is unseen and unappreciated by the modified community at large. Good stuff Em.
