Worlds 2006 UPDATES???

Hey hey, I know some babies that cry and let me tell you they are still cool kids.

Anyway, I'm not sure about what you said Sam. Vasek not competitng makes competition better? I'd feel stupid getting 1st if I knew vasek could just rip my combo/routine to bits. That's why it probably didn't feel too great to get like, 8th at this years worlds becuase you know that like, a lot of people didnt even show.

Psh, I don't care about the players' feelings.

It's more interesting for me as a spectator if I see, say, Jorden, Felix, and Honza competing for 1st as opposed to 2nd place, although I suppose the difference is marginal. I don't care much either way, honestly.

what about some official golf results?

it´s so sad, that the golf-tournament went under, cause the parcours wasn´t that great. less people enjoyed it... it would be also great, to see the best kickers being awarded...

i mean, i paid money to attend, now please frankfurtfootbag tell me the results!

What about Open Golf competition?

If some freestyle or net players wouldn't appear to their second round, they simply just would get schratched. I thought, that had been World Championchips, not regional footbag jam:>

Worlds had been closed 22 july evening with award ceremony and there was nothing about golf. Don't you think that's not fair for golf players?

I enjoyed the time too, but golf sucks

You can say that again. They didn't even have a freestyle director, that's how little they cared about freestyle at Frankfurt. Though the finals venue and show were excellent, the rest of the freestyle planning by the Frankfurt crew was, shall we say, laughable.

I tought it was really bad there was no last night shred after the finals...
Ending worlds without a huge shred is bad imo

I also agree the freestyle planning was'nt top notch, the stage for qualifications and the one for intermediate finals/big 3 finals where questionnable for different reasons.

I know it cannot be perfect, but this is some of the lacks that need to be adressed for future tournaments to make it more efficient for freestylers.

Having a huge spotlight right to your face in a routine while doing spins is really annoying!

The stage for qualifications was the size of a four-square court. Nowhere near big enough -- and certainly not "regulation" size. From Section 502.01 of the rules of footbag sports:

The playing area should be a circle approximately 40 feet (12.2m) in diameter. Indoor areas are acceptable if they have sufficient overhead clearance; 20 feet (6.1m) is recommended.

The stage for prelims was a maximum of 15 feet (4.5m) square. Far below the standard size required by the rules. In doubles freestyle, the teams almost fell off the stage, and many teams had to remove some of their choreography that would have required them to stand on opposite ends of the stage.

Aren't things like proper playing areas reviewed before the IFPA event sanctioning committee signs off on sponsoring and santioning an event ?

Is this something the worlds oversight committee should have caught ?

This committee decides among candidate sites and organizations offering to host the World Championships, and is responsible for ensuring consistency from year to year in the implementation of the event.

I guess I'm confused about what the IFPA means to the player when it's used in an event
title like the "27th IFPA WORLD FOOTBAG CHAMPIONSHIPS".

So you think the Worlds organizers in Frankfurt actually told anyone beforehand? Remember, there wasn't even a freestyle director to ask about it. I couldn't get them to reply to any of my e-mails the entire six months leading up to Worlds. I tried to get IFPA to withold the funding until they confirmed about 90 different issues that were pending, but the Worlds Oversight Committee did nothing at all. They just sat and watched as this whole thing imploded before our eyes.

Yes, I kind of assumed in this age of instant communication that the IFPA and the organizers
had easy communication. Now I see why the lack of a freestyle director was a big deal.
