I haven't been playing as much as I use to lately but sometimes I think it helps to take a little break and the session I had we're pretty productive. Good to see you around here, are you planning a trip in montreal during the next winter/summer?

Haven't played much since my last post. I have put in about 15-20 hrs max since then, and each session was about 1-1.5 hrs and were not structured at all. Just random shit.
Today, I decided that I will start from the very beginning again.
So back to just basics.
Took me 2 hrs today to hit:
20 toe>toe
20 inside > inside
10 lo>lo
10 pu>pu
10 ss mirage bs
10 ss illusion bs
10 ss clip bs
10 clip>op clip, took like 20 min, 8 X up to like 7 or 8 contacts, almost gave up

Man, I took my quantums off after like 30 mins, b/c they are just to big. I do not like them any more.
I am going to sell all of my shoes that are too big, but I need to take some pics first. So my near new, unmodded red lavers will go for 60 CDN with shipping, used older red, modded lavers will go for 35 inc shipping, and my quantum 2's will go for 80 with shipping. All with come with original insoles cut to fit better in the shoe, except teh near new reds.
I will use this money to get a new pair of size 9.5 qm2's. So i guess the rule for a 1/2 soze larger is just a general rule, b/c my 9.5 lavers feel way better, so I will get a pair of size 9.5 qm 02's.
Will finish off a bag or two this weekend.
Ahhh man, it felt so good to use the lavers b/c they weren't clunky.

Had another 1.25 hr solo session. Schooled all the basics in half the time as last time! Horray!
Progress made in the mirage/illusion department. 25 consecutive flip mirage, 20 consec strong. 10 consec strong illusion, 8 flip. But the flip is starting to feel more and more like the strong. Really concentrating on setting and putting the foot down as fast as I can and then doing it as much like a legover as possible.
Also hit toe set ducking mirage for the first time, I think. I never really tried this move before and was so close first try that I tried a few more times and got a really clean one imo. Then went right back to the basics.
I will drill the shit out of all the basics for another month or so before I try sets again. But I hit quite a few pixie lo's, a few ripwalks and a few blurs. Fairy is still easier for me..... Fairy opp butter hit, fairy op lo hit too.
Really schooling the flip clippper/butter/inside. After about 25min of flip drilling, when I tried the strong, it felt like my flip.
Got up to level 3 tri-force starting on both sides.
Ordered new QM02's yesterday. I really hope teh half size smaller makes a difference!
Will drill again tomorrow and hopefully Thursday as well. I can't wait to start freestyling again.

Have had 2 sessions since last post, and had another 1 hr session last night.
Felt very rusty and off the entire way. Did all the basics and repeat drills.
Highlights:
fairy stuff, 24 contacts of pu>mirage>rpt, 25 contacts of butter>sspu>rpt, 16 infinity and that was about it.
Going to film next week for my entries.
Stitching a few bags lately has felt great.
Will continue with the basics and repeat drills another little while and am getting used to my new QM02's. I forgot how slippery they are when you first get them. I think I may take a little sand paper to the soles to rough em up and see if that helps with traction.

Had a nice 2.25 hr session yesterday with Jon Haber!
I is so great to play with someone, especially if they are better than you. I had a great time.
Didn't drill much and was not getting any steps really..... I think that I will start weaning myself off of drilling just the basics and start picking certain components to work on each session.
Getting really close to fairy ducking strong.
Jon was giving me tips on torque, I am close but my osis is not catching the bag. Also found out that I am pretty close to paradox whirl.
There was not much from me in regards to highlight, but learned alot. Jon is pretty good! He hit some crazy stuff, and as I said to him, he was hitting stuff that is only in the movies for me!
We are going to have another session sometime this week and I can't wait.
He also go tme interested in hitting osis>drifter. Looks like alot of fun.
So my new goals are to hit torque, paradon, get my stepping back, drill the shit out of flip toe set crap, especially illusions, and get a fairy ducking osis or butter. Also really want to hit osis>drifter.
Ahh man, I really need to move somewhere where I can play with people better than me on a regular basis.

Drank a 40 of Crown and some beer with a friend and went out to teh local Legion, b/c that is where it is at in this corner of the arctic.
It was a hard choice for my sick1 and couldn't hit my sick 3 so I gave up the sick 3 and changed the last move.
On film:

I chose the fairy same whirl as an entry and entered rip>osis>sswhirl. I nailed the 3 but when I went to hand catch it, I was too excited and ended up like slapping the bag down instead of catching it.
Super close to fairy ss drifter and fairy ss muted drifter. Fucken close!!!
I was also working on 3 dexes for kicks. Attempts: fairy ss muter butter swirl, really close, just need to dial in butter swirls. Also tried steping ss dlo, not close enough. Also weak attempts at fairy eggs.

hey andrew! its good to see you workin hard on the shred since i've only known you as a stitcher. I saw that you haven't hit torque yet; try setting it lower (between knee and waist) and starting the dex quicker. It's less stylie but it works for me and hopefully you'll get it down and then try to hit it bigger.
In other news, I found the cotton candy bag that you just sent me a few weeks ago that I mentioned my roommate lost. Unfortunately, the brown/green/pink bag that you made me way back when is still missing, but hopefully in the apartment somewhere. Your bags are the shit, keep shreddin hard!

I am glad you found one of them Brian and I am glad you like the bag I sent down Andrew. The red/white/pink one I made myself and that one I sent you are deffinately the two best bags I have ever made.
I had an hour solo session last night and it was like the worst session ever! I didn't even warm up or do any basics and tried to jump in doing pixie>mirage>fairy>mirage and then doing a bunch of stepping crap. Also tried a bunch of torques. I found that osis>torque is the easiest way to attempt it for me.
How does everyone else do it? Toe set same miraging? Or opp toe set> Clipper set?
Fucken lousy session. I think next time, I should deffinately warm up and do most of the basics and then do the stuff I was before.
But I got super close to rip>>osis>torque. Also, I felt a twang in my strong fairy knee and a weird pop in my flip steppping hip.
I was really hoping that I would be able to play at teh same level as my last sessions, but it was about a week since my last session and I felt so shitty.
Stitching has been on the back burner. I made a bag for JSACK, active green pents and atlantis hexes, finishe dlike this past Monday, but I am not happy with it at all. So I am making another for him. What a piss off too b/c I only have like 20cmX25cm left of Active green. And now I am not too sure if I am a big fan of atlantis anymore. It is too soft. I like the stiff colours better b/c the bags turn out so much better. But I am using alot more gather on the new bag for JSACK and it is halfway done and should be alot better. It is the first bag I have made in a while that I did not like.
On another stitching note, I finished a brownstone pent, colonial red and tulip 10/10 and it turned out great, but teh fucken tulip is pilling like mad! I know I used the right side and I am not too sure what to do. WAYLON, PM ME!

I also really, really REALLY need to drill whirls and drifter on my flip.
I can't wait to go shred again, hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

Wow. Long time since I posted.
Well I got a new Wasabi mini in the mail yesterday and decided to get in a session. So I pack up my stuff and head over to the gym. It is closed for graduation ceremony preperations.
I was all gung ho about getting in a session and drilling. Stupid graduates. Why did you have to complete your assigned work!?
I was lucky enough to go to Quebec City for work, I had to do some proposal review funding decisions. When I was there I got to see Julien and Koa. We had a shred session and it was great to kick with people again! MY GOD! How I forgot the feeling. Julien was hitting alot of atomic and torque stuff. He is really good. Koa was playing well too. I played like crap. But afterwards we went for a beer and a microbrew bar called the Barbarie. Good beer, weird after taste though. Ended up making a 3 bag trade with Julien. Kolo introduced me to him by email and he helped me get my hands on my very first bit of facile. Oh the memories......

Then I went to Montreal. Landed Thursday evening and got in touch with everyone I possibly could. I ended up going to see Nick and his roomy Alex. Great guys. Have any of you ever heard of Nick Laroche? Well if not, he is really good at footbag and makes his own music and is a super chill guy to hang out with. THE STORIES! I got pretty drunk and toasted.
Oh and the poutine!
The next day Nick and I went to the NDA to get in a session. Before we knew it 2 hrs flew by. And Nick had to go see his girl friend. He was hitting some crazy stuff and quite a few rake moves. Awesome. A few hours later I was supposed to go see Kolo, but I had to have diner with my mom and was not able to make it out to see him. But Mathieu Gauthier was playing at teh NDA so I ended up there.
Within like 20 mins of getting there the place closed! So we went to teh Joliet Metro station and had a nice 1- 1.5 hr session there. He is really good! He was getting me to try near dlo. Close but no cigar. It is weird that I have an easier time doing toe set dlo, but like pdx, sort of. He also bought a bag from me. We were using a Fletcher Funk bag that was amzing! I could not stop thinking of how cool the bag was. We went for a little walk to his place so he could get his bank card and get ready to head out to his poker game. i hope it went well. He has a very nice place with a huge tv and a nice roommate. But I feel bad b/c I forget his name. I also met Mathieus cat!
So that day I had two sessions for a total of about 3-4 hrs. It was great.
So that is Friday. That evening, I got in touch with James. We ended up going out to an English mostly club/bar and had a blast. He also has a friend named Alex, who I swear I must have met before. Anyway before we knew it we were standing in front of Tim Hortons talking away at like 5 am. We were now able to grab a metro ride home! Yay.
Saturday. I knew that Ianek, Seb and Mathieu were going to play at teh Metro, but I was really busy all day with my Mom shopping. I really wanted to go, but decided it would be rude to ditch my mom.
Sunday Nick, Alex and I went over to James' house and had a nice session there. It was humid though and it was only about an hour and 15 mins. But Nick seesmed to have gotten better since the last session and James was hitting some pretty crazy stuff. Alex has a very unique approach to the game and this results in some super cool looking moves. What was it, indside set datw to inside? AWESOME! he also has this pixie pincher rake thing.
I did not play well on any given day but was happy to see everyone and get tips.
I really want to move there and get out of the frozen arctic. Montreal is by far the best city on the Planet. The only problem is the traffic!
