im gonna kill Baker. I was demonstrating how close i was to hitting a phoenix to my other friend Charlie...and Baker walks right into me. i cleared the pixie, the duck, and did a butterfly kick cuz i lost balance...

my bike chain snapped while i was crossing a 6 lane highway..bashed my knee into the handle bar. won't be able to shred tonight. Hopefully i can tomorrow..god, i hate when crap like this happens when other things are going so smooth..

my knee is better, but it still is bruised.. I shredded today. just basica fundamental moves. Not so much far/near stuff that could aggravate the knee.

Beginning of the session was slow. Had a lot of ice to shake off.. but i got there..

Hit a new record of 6 pdx mirages in one string. it felt nice. I could have done more its just that for somereason, i honestly don't know why...i held my breath at like the 2nd one.. ...so i kinda lost gas at the 6th and just caught the bag.

I rearranged the stuff im my basement so now when i shred i don't feel all cramped up and feel a bit claustrophobic(sp? XD :x )

The new chain i bought didn't fit my BMX bike so i tried it on my OCSB, a nickname my friend and I names out speed bikes...stands for Old Crappy Speed Bike...I jokingly call it an Old Crappy Shit Bike  ...and it fit so i just broke off my speed bike's chain. Ripped off all the gear changers in the front and rear gears and just fitted the new chain. Its a miracle it worked. I thought i just wasted my 15 bucks for a chain that i can't even use..lol.

I can't wait till it starts to warm up a bit more. The air temp is fine, its just the wind that gets me. being all sweaty and having gusts just chilling the crap out of you can really ruin a sesh.

off to do some homework at 11PM

decent shred.

almsot slammed into the wall again while attempting to break another infinity record. stopped at 7, my old record

the basement is getting me kinda mad, but if it doesn't warm up before april im gonna shred outside anyway.

I wanna broka mod my lavers. I really feel that the ankle zone is really preventing my crank and that makes me not want to use them if i can't even hit a clipper in them. I just wanna make sure i do it right. I'll do some research on it now.

Hey props on the 6 pdx mirages Ben, that's awesome!

For brocka, I use a slightly different method than most which I feel is a little more effective. It gives you a nice soft flexible mesh area without compromising the support of the shoe. Where most people actually just hack a huge chunk out of that spot, I keep the mesh, but remove the leather from that part so it's ONLY mesh in the ankle area, no bulky foam or leather. It seems like when people do it the traditional way it really cuts the life out of your shoes.

Here's a few pics, with the highlighted areas being the part where you remove the leather and foam:

See how I could remove the bulky foam without touching the mesh? Just make a cut where the leather meets that heel part to get the leather separated, then just pick at the stitches holding it in place and viola!

Wow Chris thats a really great way to do it. Thanks for that. I'll mod them tomorrow and shred with them and see if it'll help make them more crankable like my quantums.

I thought i was gonna really have to butcher at them because i have spent quite a while just staring at them several times thinking about it. I think your method would be best. Thanks again.

ugh im an idiot. I started off modding the right shoe and it came out perfect. So i went onto the left shoe and modded the outside....

I guess its ok, it just feels wierd. Im debating over whether i should brocka the right outside to even them out.

I like how the mod loosened up and didn't restrict my ankle crank, or what little i have, but im not sure if i like the lavers more than quantums... the lavers feel stiff...but that may be beacuse they are somwhat still new, in terms of boken in - ness( )

I'll shred in a bit and post back .

i am really starting to hate this basement. Everytime i get so close to breaking a record i slam into the wall. It gets so annoying. I could have broken my consec. clip record, pdx mirage, and inifity but i steered striaght for an object that would either be a chair, computer moniter, or wall... And its not like i can really move anything anyway.

Nothing new. Osis worked well today. Got some inprov on that. Nothing else worth saying. Im gonna try to stitch a 20 panel now and see how that goes. Gonna be an all pink or all yellow bag. hopefully it'll come out the right size. Above all, i hate when a bag template isn't the size you like, because that piece of info is found out when its too late.

Played some footbag outside while Charlie was skating. Didn't get too much done, but i did break my infinity record. Its 8 now.

Played some street hockey, which was fiun because it was my first time playibg hockey so at first i was slapping the puck kinda high, then i started to get the hang of it and it was really fun. I kinda tweaked my knee a bit cuz charlie likes to slap the puck like 40 feet away after each goal(he's goalie) so i'd try to get it sooner then he'd expect anc get a cheap shot or two in  .

I might have a late night shred sesh, at like 10:30. I'll see if i can get it done.

I HIT AN ILLUSION!!!! FINALLY!! At first i hit it on my flip side, for a total of 5 times, and then on my strong side for 2-3 times. Its finally starting to click. Im so happy. I spent 30 mins dedicated to illusions and it payed off. I can't wait till i can hit them consistantly. Then i'll be poppin pdx illusions and maybe even eggbeaters soon.

PHOENIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hit it twice, out of like 5 tries. So happy, my first 5 add. Lots of good stuff these past few days.

Also found a cool trick combo.

Mirage>LO>mirage>LO>RPT

Its so annyong that i can't think of the simplest combos and those end up being the really fun and helpful ones

Left leg shin splint pain. :?

ugh, i tweaked my left leg a lot. It was enough that i decided to not shred today, i was in the middle of my sesh( a little more towards the start) and then i feel a piercing pain where my leg connects into my hip. It would only happen if i lift my left leg to do a toe stall or LO or clipper. shin splint pain was acting up too in my left leg. So at first i took things slow and tried to stretch it out, but it still was the same. Then my brother needed me to help him for his homework so i helped him, then went back to shred and the pain wasn't as bad as first, but didn't take long to get back to how it was. So i've decided to not shred today and see how it gets.

Nothing else new, illusions still need work. Osis is still frustrating. Im starting to lose my pixies.

That hip pain kind of sounds like what I just got over. Just take it easy, stretch, ice if necessary, and try to avoid moves that hurt it more. And of course, take a rest for a couple days if it's really ailing you. Mine healed within a week.

Yeah, just take a break Ben. You're young enough to where that stuff usually heals super quick.

Also, I don't know if you've read about shin splints at all, but toe taps help a lot with strengthening your shins. Sit in a chair with your heels on the ground and tap your toes for like 100 reps. It'll burn, but that's good.

Also, kind of a weird method I've been doing is banging on them lightly with an empty water bottle. Some of the splints are actually tiny bone fragments and this kinda pounds them back in so they can merge easily with the bone again. Thai boxers kick bamboo to do this haha.

Take a break, stitch some bags!

Here's some more moves/drills if you want:

Butter>SS butter>Clipper Mirage>Legover>Rpt
Osis>Infinity>Rpt as many contacts as possible starting from both sides.
Ducking Clipper from clipper set both sides.
Ducking Clipper>rpt as many as you can
Whirl both sides
Drifter both sides

Heal up first though, and eat bananas they have lots of potassium which really helps with soreness.

Thanks Chris, i just did the toe taps while eating a banana  . It burns in the spot where my shin splints hurt so i think they'll help.

I will probably try to shred later today. I've been making 4 panels to sell to kids at my high school and my middle school so i can buy more fabric and filler. (im really low on steel) Im gonna do a little footbag demo in the park to show them footbag, and hopefully spark a few more sales.

Thanks for the drill, if you have any more i'd really appreciate them. Its hard to break out of the few combos that i know...

hit a new trick last night. Ducking mirage. I hope to hit pixie ducking mirage soon. I don't know if these have nicknames yet, posted in the trick tips sub-forum.

Worked on ducknig a lot last night. It was my first time shredding aftre taking a 3 day break for my hip. It was pretty low intensity., but i think i got some work done. I now know that i should really try to set perfectly straight and force myself under the bag more, rather than arching my sets and having to effort on the duck. If i can get it more straight, then the bag won't be as far away from my stalling foot, and i should have a better chance at hitting the trick.

Im gonna work on drifters in a bit(hope i can hit it BS today), but first i'll traxce and cut out panels for a footbag trade i have with Matt. Gotta hydrate too, feeling a bit dizzy, usually happens when i don't drink enough water..

Dude props Ben. Ducking pdx mirage was one of the first really solid multi-component 4 adds in my game, and became a good go-to move. Yeah keep working on the perfect sets for ducking moves, you'll find it, that's one of those personal faves type sets.

Drifter/Whirl/etc. I know you're doing great. I would love to see from you:

butter>whirl>infin>whirl AND
butter>drifter>infin>infin>drifter

That would be pretty sweet. I'm so pumped about your progress man, oh yeah and props on PHOENIX!!!!!!!!

I tried all day today to hit ducking legover to phoenix so you know that move is pretty respectable, props :)

Thanks Chris.

I tried drifters a lot yesterday. I just need to be more familiar with the motions to speed up and actually stall the bag. i came slose a few times, and did a kick instead of a stall. Im pretty sure i did a difter "kick" on both sides, I think its amazing how i can learn moves at about the same speed now on both sides as opposed to how i was a few months ago.

I still haven't hit a whirl yet either. I think today i'll mainly focus on whirls, drifters and illusions, and then just drill old moves with some freestyle runs.

Hip pain is gone, so thats good. Gonna get something to eat then shred soon. I'll post some highlights.

EDIT: Oh yeah, i wanna hit an Assassin soon too. (Pixie ducking mirage)

wow i just typed so much and delted it all by closing this window rather than submiting....

i'll just summarize what i wrote..

Drifters, found out i was hitting them wrong. The right way is much easier. BS. I actually hit them a while ago just screwin around.

Whirls. Slowly familiarizing myself with the motions by a feww drills everyday.

illusions, awkward still...needs more practice.

I hit a fairy just messin around. Im not gonna get seroius with it until i nail my BOP's and can hit it on flip.

Osis is still the same. No major improvement.

nice sesh. I tried to do more strings rather than drills. I had a nice run, forgot what it was but it was like 8-10 contacts, which was nice(mostly 2's and some butterflies)

Practiced some osis. Almost hit it b2b 4 times, but after the 3rd i just froze. I don't know what happened.
