Just announced; there will be a party at Evan Lovely/Nick Landes' house Saturday evening, starting around 9pm. It is not far from my house, walking distance in fact. Good times!

Nick Landes won routine prelims. Circle semis, let alone finals should be ridiculous!

Damien and Anssi meets Jim and Lon is a very, very good scene...

Heya,
Anssi judged Circle, and did not compete in routines. He rocked Request however. Sorry for the slow updates, with everyone staying in Portland between the US Open and Worlds, it feels like the event is still going. Everyone just got back from Nick and Evan's, Landes finally cut his hair. There are some great before and after shots. Same guy?

http://www.fourkast.com/gallery2/main.p ... alNumber=2

We have something like 11-12 people in our house right now, with another 6 or so people staying elsewhere. Water Temple rocked as usual, definitely feels like the summer of footbag here right now. We will be taking the out of town shredders sight seeing, then simply play footbag for the rest of the week. The clan goes down on Friday or Saturday, should be fun! More info to come...

Hello,

I apologize for the delay, but here are the official results for the Best Bag Competition.

There were 11 footbags entered by seven stitchers. The footbag stitcher was kept anonymous to everyone except me, until now.

There were 5 judges, and they judged aesthetic and playability value. 1 was the lowest score possible, 6 was the highest. I then took 60% of the playability score and 40% of the aesthetic score and added them together for the final score.

Here are the 11 footbags in the random order as they were presented to the judges and the crowd.

Footbag one:

Footbag two:

Footbag three:

Footbag four:

Footbag five:

Footbag ten:

Footbag eleven:

Footbag 13:

The people's choice award was determined Saturday. Anyone in the audience could come look at the footbags, feel them, kick it a few times, and then write their top three choices. I collected all of the votes and awarded one point for a third place, two points for second, and three points for first.

1st - 1 - 15 points - Hanna
tie 2nd - 11 - 14 points - Hanna
tie 2nd - 10 - 14 points - Brian
4th - 7 - 13 points - Liz
5th - 5 - 10 points - Waylon
6th - 13 - 9 points - Marco
7th - 4 - 7 points - Brian
8th - 12 - 6 points - Aaron
9th - 2 - 5 points - Will
4 way tie 10th - 3, 6, 8, 9 0 points - Will, Maryanne, Liz, Nick

You may have noticed that footbag 9 and 12 do not exist. That is because Nick and I submitted footbags for the People's Choice award, but could not participate in the best bag competition because we were judges.

The first score is aesthetics/ the second is playability.

Got a text from Aaron after work today saying that I won Best Bag. Thanks for giving me the honor to participate in this contest, and having to submit my bag to a tough assortment of amazing entries from stitchers across the US, Canada and Europe. It's been a pleasure, and I had fun and a bit of an anticipation on what was happening with this contest in this year's USO.

I had a lot of fun making my entry. I thought about the design and playability, and felt to the best of my ability on what would make a great playing bag for footbaggers attending the USO, or rather, kickers/freestylers and their critique on what makes a great footbag to play with in general. My gut instinct on the colors, design and fill really paid off, and really I just wanted to have fun and give to the USO a great looking and playing bag for whoever wants and deserves it. It is my hope that my entry goes to someone who would treat her well, since the worth of a footbag is really dependent on its worthwhile use than just another collector's item imo.

I don't know how prizes are done for this contest. I wasn't really expecting much (aside from my snarky comment about getting a Fourkast jersey and/or shorts as a prize for winning in that one thread under B&E). But if the prizes boils down to collecting the spoils of footbags leftover from the contest, then I'm hoping that Liz Nation 92-panel is still available, because that is one purrty bag. :3

I'll see y'all at Worlds next week!

this was a great contest, with a lot of tasty bags!
i lost to hania by one vote in peoples choice :(
and then by .024 to waylon in the other (with slightly more emphasis on playability it would have been mine!)
crazy.
The coolest part of this contest was when the people's choice was going on, pretty much everyone got involved with the voting.
im glad you liked bag 10 tom!

I believe I am missing a big 32 with leopard print radiations and a 14 panel bag (both new) and a 4 stitch green and yellow bag that is really crusty.
