Team Fortress 2
Re: Team Fortress 2
hey guys, i think i haven't played tf2 in like a motnh or even more, i won't play it untill i change my computer, which gives me from 2 to 30 fps in game right now
Re: Team Fortress 2
i got it, i didnt think i would buy a computer yesturday :-/
Re: Team Fortress 2
so i really played today,
i still play tf2 with minecraft setting (god it's ugly, but i'm used to it) but having 130 fps instead of 20 is simply marvelous.
i went mvp many times playing as sniper on koth_harvest. it looks like than having more fps get you more accurate. i could make sometimes 4 headshots in 4 shots. it's just ridiculous.
i play scout too, same things, i can barely miss a shot. And soldier is still as easy.
i love that game !!!

Re: Team Fortress 2
Glad to hear you're back to playing, and with a better computer now too.
I took a week off from playing while at Worlds, and I really missed it. I think it would be awesome if one day we could get a team of footbag TF2 players all on a server, and work as a team. So like a map with an objective, like payload or capture points. I think we all specialize in enough different players that we could be a force to be reckoned with. It'd require some planning, but maybe here is where we could start that. First off, if you have interest in participating, post here. If we have enough interest, then we can pick a time and date, then set up a server or find an empty one.
Thoughts?
I'm imagining a team like this:
Scout: Mathieu GM
Soldier: Julien
Pyro: ?
Demoman: Mike Green
Heavy: Reilley Adamson
Engie: Mahood?
Spy: Kevin Regamey
Medic: Ken
Sniper: ?
I bet I could talk Eric Chang and Zac Jackson into joining if I were to get a few people to commit. Tell me that wouldn't be awesome.

Re: Team Fortress 2
This sounds really, really fun. In a perfect world we could form a Highlander team and compete, but I am certainly not trying to plan my life around competing in a TF2 league.
Maybe depending on how many of us show up at the U.S. Open this year we can start planning more.

Re: Team Fortress 2
i'd love the idea if i was 20 years old. But i'm 31 and i live with my girlfriend and my 1.5 year old kiddo. so i will never compete anymore (i used to compete in Half-Life 1)
but if we can play all together someday, i'd love to.
i don't know if Mathieu is good at scout but i know he's a good soldier. I think i'm pretty good as scout, so i'd switch with him
btw Ken, i still owe you a detonator.
I made a very good scout demo in koth_nucleus, would you guys like me to upload it and post it here ?

Re: Team Fortress 2
Yeah, I'm not thinking anything formal, but just an afternoon where a few of us take over a server and wreck shop on the same team. One problem I've had when playing with footbaggers, is that we tend to be too good, and hence autobalance always puts us on opposing teams.
I'll feel out some more players on facebook, and if there's interest maybe we can set a date sometime.

So today I finally traded my strange sticky. Here's what I got in return:C-Fan wrote:Today I did the following trade:
I lost:
eternal reward
big earner
conniver's kunai
I gained:
Strange market gardener
Strange sticky launcher
Immediately afterwards, I traded 3 of the scrap metals to somebody else on the server for 8 random weapons. So to extrapolate, I traded:
and got back:
Felt like a G.
Re: Team Fortress 2
the best part, im gonna give you a detonator FOR FREE !!
Re: Team Fortress 2
Yeah, that mode looks pretty amazing. I just think it's cool that I paid $30 for the Orange Box 2 years ago, and Valve keeps upgrading the game for free.
My one complaint, is that over the last 2 days the item server has been perpetually down. This means I either don't have my loadouts, or I do but strange kills aren't being counted. In some cases it's also made trading impossible. But hopefully this is only a temporary inconvenience as they roll out MVM, and it'll all be back to normal by then.

Re: Team Fortress 2
Now I can't even get onto normal servers. It goes to the loading screen, says "retrieving server info" and then it crashes my computer entirely. I don't even care about accessing the new game mode...I just want to play TF2 the way I always did. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?C-Fan wrote: My one complaint, is that over the last 2 days the item server has been perpetually down. Crossing my fingers. I'll probably be offline for the next 10 days, so I'm hoping when I come back it's all magically resolved. If anybody is having similar problems or has any theories what's going on, let me know.C-Fan wrote:But hopefully this is only a temporary inconvenience as they roll out MVM, and it'll all be back to normal by then.
While I'm here: I was talking to Kevin Regamey yesterday about TF2, and it dawned on me that getting hats and other unique items to customize your loadouts is essentially just like playing with dolls. TF2 is like a weird, virtual doll fetish.

Re:
Glad they nerfed this, so it doesn't penetrate players anymore. Now a medic can hide behind their heavy when rushing an engie nest, which seems more fair. I feel less scrubby using it now, though still a little scrubby.rjadamson wrote: I would say the Phlogostinator was a good pick for the list of most unbalanced items. However, even it doesn't hold a candle to the champion of recent stupid additions to the TF2 arsenal, the Pomson 6000. Its lasers go through players, it removes 20% of the cloak from Spies, and worst of all it removes 10% of a Medic's charge on hit. That last part in particular makes for extremely stagnant matches because now Medics either have to hit their charge early (essentially halving the effectiveness of any given push) or risk suddenly dropping to 90% charge when their teammate is running into a heavily fortified area.
I fixed my TF2 (reinstall did the trick) so I'm playing again. I still haven't tried out the Mann vs Machine mode yet. Reviews?
Re: Team Fortress 2
MVM = AWESOME !!!! sometimes it's hard as hell because your team mates aren't good, sometimes its very easy if your team mates are good. i personnally like to play engy and pyro, 2 classes i don't really play in regular tf2. you can make parties to play, so one day, we'll have to play together.
you can boost most of the weapons, that make it possible. because giant heavies have 5000hp

Ken, here's the end of our Überchain game. The round ended a couple minutes after you left tonight.

I've been playing Mann vs. Machine a lot. It's really fun. I've managed to get a couple perfect games (the robots that you destroy drop money with which you use to upgrade weapons and damage resistances -- it disappears after a short period so you have to be smart about picking it up while still doing your primary job of killing stuff) in on the advanced maps, but the achievement for doing so seems to be broken. One of the most effective (and hilarious) strategies I've discovered is to have a team with a bunch of Soldiers using the Righteous Bison. Unlike the Pomson 6000 it still penetrates enemies... so suddenly a swarm of a couple dozen bots is a non-issue. If you upgrade your reload speed all the way it totally looks like you're jerking off the gun.
I am one map away from getting a cool new robot-themed item.
