Glad the `splints are going away. Those exercises totally do work.

Just wanted to say thanks again for putting out that video. I can`t even remember the last time I saw any Jason Crook footage. I feel like I haven`t seen anything since the Lion`s Den. If you could take a request, I would love to see some of Jason`s furious sets. I heard he hit sunilwalker swirl, so his set must be damn nice.

It was also real cool seeing footage of you finally. I have read your blog for ages, wished you luck when you left for iraq, but had never even seen you shred. Very good stuff indeed. I look forward to seeing more.

Um yeah.... just had to comment that this made me hungrier than you could possibly imagine. I haven`t had chicken fried steak since leaving the states 3 years ago, and I definitely miss that. Gah.

:D @ Ken

Okay well I put out the first ever video of all me, you can find it in the Video forum under "Intrusion". That's what I named it, because it sounded cool and it was a good first video name I think. That makes two videos in one week for me, I hope I can keep it up. I know for a fact that I'll get some mad video of San Diego this weekend, but when it's over and done, I'll be out of tapes to record already. I could tape over the shit I got but then I would lose it.... maybe I'll record it all to DVD and store that somewhere, that actually isn't a bad idea...

Well anyway, the video I put out is a pretty good representation of where I am at. A didn't put Pheonix > Blurry Whirl > Spinning Pdx Whirl in the video even though I hit it while recording again at Damons first try. Mostly because half of the last move is moving out of the camera angle, and secondly because I might use it for something else. In relationship to the video, I wish my string length was longer, I swear I didn't hit anything over fifteen moves in that entire vid, so I will consentrate on that this weekend. The difficulty level of the moves I hit and some of the links makes me believe string length should be my definate choice of future goals. I have always been into big moves over runs so it's going to be difficult to change my perception all of a sudden. I'll sure as hell try though. I'll still slip a new move into every session to keep me motivated though, that last session with Damon was insane, I hit all of this shit for the first time (Some not on the video):

Moves:
Spinning Pdx Blender (To end a run starting with pheonix)
Whirlygig......... off of my foot twice
Void
Fog BS
Symposium Whirling X-Body Rake

Runs:
Blurry Whirl > Blurrage..... off the foot
Pixie ss clip > reverse swirl > ripwalk > reverse swirl > ripwalk > run...
Paradox Legbeater > Pdx Mirage > Tapdown > Paradox Legbeater
Spinning Clip > Spinning Pdx Mirage > Legbeater > Spinning Clip > Spinning Pdx Mirage > Drop on Legbeater :x
Spinning Pdx Whirl > Blurry Whirl (I'm going to try to repeat this)

Well yeah, that's about some highlights, you can find alot more in my video though so check it out and be sure to comment. I'm going to go get some food now however so I'm out until next time.

Peace

OMG I MADE THE BEST FOOTBAG MOVIE INTRO

It took so long to get the intro on cue with the music and end exactly where I wanted to but I fucking did it, go me. The video is of this weekend with Abshire, Crook, Damon, and myself and its sick and it's ready for the public to see. I just need to upload it and considering its 70 megs of pure awesomeness I am trying to get Damon to hook me up today with some space but we're having trouble... I think I'll host it on archive.org temporarily until we can get a set place to upload it along with everything else.

And OMG. I am making a Jason Crook special footbag movie next. It will blow everyone one away and I'm going to start on that shit asap. I love making videos now, it's fucking best.

As far as me and footbag goes, it's outstanding. My shin splints are 100% GONE and I can shred without worry right now and I have nothing holding me back. I can't wait for my next session, in fact I might do some drills in a little bit. These are a few things I can remember hitting off the top of my head:

Smoke > Spinning Pdx Whirl for Jason Crook first try as a request
Atom Smasher > Pheonix midrun
Diving Mirage > Pheonix to start a run
Void (Sealed) to end a small run
So close to blurry whirl > blurry whirl flipside
blurry whirl > food off my foot
Pheonix > Mobius
Phenoix > Blurry Drifter > Pdx Blender off the foot
Pheonix > PS Whirl > Spinning whirl off the foot

And a load of other extra shit added in the video you all will see. Woo, footbag is great. I can't wait to upload this vid.[/i]

I came to Colorado  You're blessed to be able to have the biggest US sanctioned event in the states every year in your home town. God that must be nice, no wonder your so good at your age Stephen! I knew there was a reason behind it hehe.

Well anyway, I just started on my new video. It looks as if my shred video of last weekend turned out just as I hoped. I'm glad so many people liked it and I hope my next one will live up to expectations as it should. If I can get the idea I have for it out of my head perfectly with the editing software and resources I got, it should be my best ever. We'll see though, I really need to find this song I'm thinking of...

Oh, as far as shred goes I drilled with Damon last night. We probably spent the better part of the sessions with nothing but drills. It wasn't that fun, but we both new it was necessary, lets see, what did I hit:

Stepping Far Osis > Ripwalk > Repeat
Diving Clip > Diving Osis > Repeat
Ripwalk > Sidewalk > Repeat X5
Dimwalk > Sidewalk > Schmoe > Repeat
Diving Clip > Spinning Clip > Ducking Clip > Repeat
Paradox Illusion > Whirl > Repeat X 4
Paradox Mirage > Paradon > Repeat
BAP Drill off my foot way too many times it was just wierd
PS Mirage > Symp Pixie > SS Butterfly > Repeat
Whirl > Blender > Repeat off my foot
Infinity > Infinty > Osis > Repeat X 10
Pixie SS Mirage > Legbeater > Paradox Mirage > Repeat

I'm sure there were more but I combined alot of them into the same string s without dropping so that was fun. I've been playing around with that alot more and found that it can really bring up your genuine runs, add ratio, and string length nicely.

After drills we mutually agreed it was shred time because it's just so much more fun. I think it really helped my string length though because I was averaging some longer runs with some really unique links. I remember throwing a fairy ss mirage in one long run and I never throw that move O_o. Also, I learned my blenders a little better off of the toe and managed to hit both fairly quickly. I think that is a must if I am ever going to throw pixie blender mid run.

Well I have to stop typing now and get to work on this new video. I can't wait until it is done, the world will know about Jason soon. Muhuaha

This weekend was llllllllong. Rich and I, just us mind you, played a total of seven hours of footbag. My legs hate me, they hate me. However, seven hours of footbag, yielded camera footage as it should. I am very dissipointed that our first session playing wasn't on tape, we both hit some mad shit that I wanted so bad to be on camera but it wasn't because the tape wasn't rewinded. He hit flipside Dimmiest > Flurry, I hit Blurry Whirl > Infinity > Spinning Pdx Blender sealed to a hand catch. Also, there was this crazy ass mime! He fucking was insane and I wish I could have posted that shit but once again, him along with this hot ass chick that was with him will forever go unknown to the world damnit.

Okay anyways I hit ALOT of shit this weekend, the following is some shit I can remember off the top of my head:

Spinning Pdx Blender sealed
Pheonix > Ripped Warrior off the foot
Spinning Clipper > Whirr
Blizzard > Pixie Whirl > Pdx Blender > Infinity to start a run
Locomotion
Fairy ducking butterfly (First one since Iraq)
Smoke/Blurry Drifter/Tombstone all in the same run
Reverse Swirl > Whirl > Repeat X3
Sick ass tripless runs
Paradox Whirl > Whirl > Paradox Whirl > Whirl > Blender for Richie

That was some shit I can remember. Most of it from today sadly because I still have bad memory loss from all my high school years of smoking the ganj. Oh well, I am working on my new video for all of you to enjoy in a few days. Hope it turns out even better then the previous..

Aaron all that shit is sooo massive and awesome!

You have been consistently posting REALLY impressive stuff!

The smoke/blurry drifter/tombstone run sounds stylish!

I can't wait to see your next video, I am sure it'll be sweet like all your others!

Okay, well I have not posted for some time now, like three weeks or some shit. Not because I haven't been playing, or because I hate this blog, but because I just didn't feel like writing until now.

Well, as you may have all seen already, I released "Mortal Kontacts", "Shapeshifter", and "Guess Who's Back?" all a couple weeks ago for the Modified user enjoyment. Well those videos have come to an end.

I will no longer be making footbag videos. From now on, I am only making footbag movies  . The difference? Going from my old editing program to Adobe Premiere Pro, given most generously by QuantumBalance. Now only to understand the vast array of tools in this greaty program... this will be a task worth putting time into.

My next video idea is already set. If I can capture it how I see it in my head, it will blow peoples minds. It won't only be good footage coupled with a good song any more. No, that is novice compared to the shit I will be next releasing. It may take me more than a month to get it out, but it will be intense, and it will make the world see where footbag videos should be going.

Okay, as far as me and footbag goes, besides videos ofcourse, I am very dissatisfied with myself. Not because I can't hit anything, but because I cannot play without an insane amount of pain. I really can't understand it, I may have a stress fracture in both my legs because I can't seem to heal my freaking legs. Both of them start throbbing excessively when I do anything that requires a dex or symposium. I have gotten new insoles in my boots that I wear all day at work and have purchased new Black New Balance 520's. I hope this will fix the problem. Screw that.... I pray it will.

Due to my pain, I have had to rely on my dexless game and my hacky sack game once again. Which have become alot more fun since I have created a new way to play for myself off of both my own experiences and the tricky shit I have been learning from other players. The following is some fun stuff I am now throwing in:

X-Body Toe Stalls
Flappers
Heal Stalls
Knee Stalls
Frozen Osis
Dragon/Outside stalls
Zooming everything
Spinning Ducking Drills
Zulu
Inspinning
Double Spinning
Surging
Fairy ducking
Fairy Spinning
Pixie Spinning

Out of them I have done:

Cross body toe stalls bsos
Pixie Cross body toe stall bs
Fairy cross body toe stall bs
Clip > outside > clip > reverse swirl > outside > dragon bs
711 consecutive kicks today
112 alternating toe kicks
37 alternating outside kicks
24 "Lon" kicks (Swinging arms while doing alternating toe kicks *tough*)
31 consecutive outside kicks *strongside*
27 consecutive outside kicks *flipsie*
osis > gyro clip > repeat X10 bs
Osis set mobius
Fairy Gyro Mirage
Fairy Gyro Symple Reverse swirl off of foot
26 dexless guiltless move run (my record)

That is all I can think of off the top of my head. It is over a course of a couple weeks mind you, ever since the pain was too powerful to shred, and since I started playing hacky sack with Lon at Sam's get to gether.

Freestyle Fantasy 2 was insane. I never posted my own reflection on it because it was already posted by many forum goers and I didn't want to repeat the same shit. During the shredding up at the super psychodelic ranch that we went to, I had two seven adds drop off my foot. Guantlet and Alpine Food Processor. I am sure if I kept trying I could land both of these but I only gave them a quick shot because I think it's kind of stupid to try so hard for something so miniscule. I would much rather have a genuine run of twenty contacts make my day, then something of the higher add value. I guess I have matured in footbag because that used to be my only goal - that huge move.

Besides what I was attempting, I loved watching all the skill levels of the players who came. I was probably the worst player there, I swear, everyone just improves so fast I am having a hell of a time catching anyone. I have never seen half ot those players play before and it is really really nice to see some different talent. Jeremy Mirken sealed blazing ss drifter, whirring swirl, symposium flurry, and like six consecutive slapping mirages in front of me. Chad D is still as crazy as ever and is throwing different combos into his game, managing to go strong tripless/fearless in most of his runs. I believe I remember him hitting Atomic Whirl > Blurry Drifter > Blurry Whirl to start a run and also comboing alot of really difficult shit. Blackjack is the nicest dude alive and let me kick it at his house Friday night. He can bust so surprisingly, especially when you don't expect the next move. Pinkus displayed his levitating in front of me. Which I mistook as shred because he seems to just float in the air and throw his legs around the bag and then stall and do it again. He hit warp and ducking paradox symposium eggbeater. Loren baum is just like... whoa. He really is a force little known to the world and you will all see next time something big goes down. Oh yeah, he like.. atomic ducks out of his VOODOO's. Luis Monhollen is as smooth as ever but throwing bigger and better shit every time I see him. Torquescrew > paradox downtime legeater is so awesome. Not to mention he throws 40-50 contact guiltless like he is Lon's own son. Theodore Anderson... or Ted, is another shuffle monster like Loren and can do freaking rubberman two like its nothing. What the hell, I wish I could come close to that shit. And ofcourse, Sam. Sam is the man. Plain and simple, nice ass guy who loves to just have fun and play. We got along really well and just might be able to kick this weekend down in SD. He is better then me for sure, some of his concepts he throws are straight out of the Moir factory if you know what I meen.

Okay, well I am positive no one is going to read that entire thing but screw it. I had to get some writing out of me. I just pray my legs are good enough to shred how I want to for this weekend, if not... I will be frustrated and pist because Chad will be here to represent, and if I can't.... I'll just no think about that, I know I can.

Take it easy, I know I will. L8

I hope that yours legs will get better fast, Aaron!

And I'm waiting for this movie you wrote about. Actaully.. I can't wait... I like your videos so much, so I will love your movie probably.

Nice report from jam too! I donn't think I've read one with description how everyone was playin'. Maybe because I don't read many blogs...

Blackjack! Hey man, what's up! Thanks for the advice but, that's exactly the opposite of my problem. I am a very toe oriented person, everything I do I land on my toes due to soccer and tae-kwon-do in my past. I wear through my insoles and the bottom of my shoes under my toes without even rubbing off the first layer at my heal. I believe my problem lies within the fact that I have to be a marine and a footbagger. It's just too much sometimes for my legs to handle, it's so frustrating!

Oh yeah, and Ptaku, I can't wait for my movie either. I believe I will be filming it the weekend after this one, but I'll be exploring Adobe Premiere Pro constantly until then.

Since your medical is free, why don't you go to the hospital? They could tell you what's wrong (free), give you something to help with the pain (free), and maybe even get less work to do. I know the meds they give you will probably just be motrin 800 since they prescribe (sp?) that for eveything, but hey, whatever helps. Hope you get better soon and you know we at least want teasers for your movie if you can.

Whoa you know way to much to not be a Marine. :)

I already get free pain killers, but making an appointment and missing training is not my type of deal. If the pain gets so bad I can't walk when I wake up then I'll definately go quick but I'm going to hold out for now. I think I can do this on my own with good insoles in everything and keeping off my feet as much as possible. Thanks for the advice though.

Take care of yourself and please don't stop puting your videos on modified. I really enjoy them and they load quicker than anyone elses. Can't wait for the movie. Please get it done as quick as you can.

The way you posted about meds in the Corps was definately a familiar tone Delakong. I didn't think you could have just said that without being extremely familiar with it. It looks like you turned out okay though even though both your parents are life Marines. :)

THIS WEEKEND:

This weekend was awesome. It was the 30th Annual Pacific Beach Block Party in which roughyl 200,000 people arrived in San Diego for one hell of a party. A festival in which smoking weed and having a keg mounted on your doorstep was a must. It turned out to be everything Jay and Rich had told me and more.

We arrived early in the day when the party was just kicking off and not many people had shown up yet. The location ended up being roughly 50 meters in front of a concert stand in which a live band was just warming up for their music which turned out to be loud enough to where you couldn't hear shit but the person directly in front of you - perfect. Also, since we showed up and found this nice flat spot to kick, with our shredding skills in hand, we were able to draw the crowd around us instead of through us.

Just warming up I knew that all the patience I exherted throughout the week and the investment in insoles was going to pay off. I have never felt so bouncy and light on my feet in one day. The anticipation began killing me while warming up and for the first time since I have ever played with the SD crew, I began going guiltless during warmup before they did. That had never happened before... I just needed to play.

The session kicked off roughly at the same time the music did. It was perfect, we could drain out all noise and distraction from our game and completely isolate concentration on the bag while playing. We must have been pushing hard fast because the next time I looked around we had a crowd of atleast thirty people watching and applauding every run. In addition, we had a few great hacks in which we shredded hard and didn't drop but passed the bag to eachother. I remember one hack in which Richy busted out his unique style of game for the crowd, full of motions, torques, double and triple dexes, and some sick combos then passed to Jay without a drop. Jay went on to hit a twenty something tripless run without dropping then passed the bag my way for a twenty plus contact dexless run that combined, made the crowd go crazy. It was intense.

We played for three solid hours that Saturday before we took a break and let our bodies regenerate themselves. After roughly twenty minutes or so we started kicking again on a sidewalk away from the massive thousand-person plus crowd that accumulated where we stood before. We were all trying crazy shit for fun and calling out some combos for others. Shapeshifter managed to seal a sick ass super clean barfly swirl, Richy hit far motion > torque > repeat X3, and I hit spinning butterfly dragon. Our expressions must have been catchy because a news channel, I don't know if it was Fox or a local channel came up and started filming us play on the sidewalk. First Richy, then Jay, then me. It surprised me when he started getting meer feet away from our legs to film the action as close as possible, I knew it was going to be used for something - but what?

After we finished shredding Richy went back to his house and we caught up to him later in the day. Jay didn't play anymore but kicked the bag once or twice between that time. I on the other hand, played atleast three more times randomly when I felt like I should and managed to hit my new spinning clipper record of 13. Go me. Also, with Jay's request I hit Reverse Swirl > Far Wauxpin BS! What a great day it was.

The morning after the first thing I heard was that I was featured on the news that Saturday night. Yay for me, I guess it was 6 O'Clock local news or something afterall and they showed me shredding it up, I wish I could get the clip!

Sunday, Chad Devlahovich was around from LA to finally get in on the action which was awesome because I really wanted to get a good filming session out of Chad so I could use it in the future. Mostly because no new footage has been put out of Chad since "Where the Ripwalk Ends" and it's way over due. Other that that, he is just insane and deserves to be on video constantly. We all played and I got it on film so I should be using that maybe for my next video. We shall see how that goes.

The Sunday session was roughly two hours and everyone did something sick. I hit ducking clipper > spinning ducking clipper > repeat for the first time, Richy started a run with Sunilwalker, Jason was full of unique tripless runs with a sick ass paradox blender > paradox whirl > repeat drill in the middle of one, and Chad.... well Chad tried some shit that was just awesome. Triage, Paradox Whirr, Gyro Whirr, stuff of that nature. He didn't seal any of them but he was so close it was scary. What he did seal was just as good though and the world will see through a video in the future HEHE......

Anyway, highlights from the weekend:

Vortex and Spinning Pdx Whirl Midrun
Reverse Swirl > Osis > Zooming SS Clipper > Gyro Clipper > Repeat
Diving Clipper > Ducking Clipper > Spinning Clipper > Repeat > Gyro Clipper > Spinning Butterfly > Repeat
Triage off the foot (Inspired by Chad)
Ripwalk > Blur > Legbeater > Ripwalk > Whirr > Run
Clipper Set SS Swivel
Blurry Whirl > Blur > Tripwalk > Run
Ducking Clipper > Spinning Ducking Clipper > Repeat
Reverse Swirl > Far Wauxpin BS
Spinning Clipper X 13
Ducking Clipper > Ducking Clipper > Spinning Clipper > Spinning Butterfly > Spinning Osis > Inspinning Clipper > Spinning Clipper > Run
Pheonix > Blurry Whirl > Whirr off the foot

Good god damn weekend and thank god for insoles. I'm going to start shredding alot more.

So glad to hear your legs are feeling better. I enjoyed the long write-ups. On one hand I`m sad that you won`t keep hitting us with regular footage of the SD crew, but I understand that quality takes time.

I was a bit confused when you said: zooming same side clipper. Zoom set peeking osis? Zoom set gyro clipper?

Challenge for you: reverse swirl-gyro clipper repeat. If thats too easy, make the gyro clipper alpine in some way.

Today I will spend hours on video editing. I really want to release a few minutes of pure Chad D footage for the world and then possibly another one of me and/or the entire SD crew.

Ken, I have done gyro clipper > reverse swirl > repeat alot. The combo I said before with "zooming same side clipper" was a gyro clipper set from osis. I'll try to step it up with something... maybe I'll try reverse swirl > gyro symple reverse swirl > repeat
