Early September, DHS Footbag. Watch Please. Now Youtubed

Post by Zac Miley »

Ok. This video is like, 4 years in the making.

I'm kinda pissed about it. It took about 3 years for it to upload and about another 3 years to make.

It's from early september. It's nearly 8 minutes long. It's 93 mb. I'll put it on google pretty soon.

We're both better than what's in this video. I'm way more both sided... Cody is Iunno. He's better.

Zac (me) is the one with the hat and stuff.

Cody is Cody.

Please critique us.

Cody can quantum duck really well

I tought Zac played better at worlds.

My critiques: No flip osis tricks from Zac
barely any flip clipper tricks from Cody, or flip toe sets.

keep going guys, you are improving well

loved the video :D
Cody's quantum ducking is insane, also really liked your shred Zac.

A request for Cody: Alpine tripwalk would be really great!

My thoughts.

First off I think that video could’ve been 3 minutes long and I would’ve gotten the same opinions and views. I think it’s a little off to expect people to download almost 100 mb and then watch 8 minutes of almost identical runs. This is not your fault, it’s the nature of your level. You don’t have a shitload to show off, so after the 5th minute I was a little bit bored.

I guess my opinions are the same as always about you guys, but I guess I should break it down by person to make it more accurate.

Cody: I was actually impressed when I saw infinity and I was optimistic about the next few minutes left of the video, but then you just went right back into your normal stuff. If you have fun doing one sided runs, that’s totally cool, go for whatever works for you. But the fact that there wasn’t one flip far legover, flip mirage, etc in that video is just weak. Those aren’t hard tricks. You have such natural ability to spring (obviously, quantum ducking and stuff) that it really makes no sense why you aren’t using those flip components. With your body you could be doing ripped warriors and shit, but if you struggle on flip ripwalk and don’t have your flip 2’s, nothing is going to happen. Footbag is a house, and you are building skylights when your foundation hasn’t even dried. Think about that.

Zach: Good stuff for the most part, but boring towards the end. I feel like I’ve seen all your tricks by the end of that 8 minutes. Some things I liked : rev whirl run, dimwalk>blur, lower bail ratio. Some things I didn’t like : one sided on osis and toe tricks, thin/the tricks. I can’t really shoot much advice, I think you just have to keep playing, but that flip osis is non existent, and you dropped on flip pdx. Mirage the only time you tried it.

Overall I think you guys need to stop worrying about making videos and having nice editing and just school your basics. Playing for the camera is not good for you, it doesn’t allow you to take risks and try stuff your bad at, I know, I’ve been there. Make lists of things that are hard for you and do them. Zach, you said you can do like 60 infinities, try to link ripwalks. Try to do some toe shuffle with flip pixie. Atomsmasher or something. Your drifter looks good, milk that. Kick the 2’s out of your game. Cody: flip 2’s, more infinities, spins on the flipside, ducks on the flipside, whirls, drifter.

I wrote this all out because I liked you guys at worlds and you guys have a lot of energy, it just has to be directed into the right avenues. You are athletic young guys who have just as much potential as anyone, and I know your games will turn into good things as time progresses. Even just in the few months you guys have made good strides, I just want to emphasize that (in my opinion) there seems to be more you can do. Strive to be interesting and solid players, and next time make a 3 minute video that is great and let every line show a different dimension of your game.

I know someone will read this and think I’m a dick or something but I’m not. This is all said with a “take it or leave itâ€

Cool video :)

Lots of neat stuff like fountain shred, shoes fly away :D.

Most of all i liked pdx and pixie flux by Zac and Codys alpine quantum.

Critic...

Cut on the flip toe bails Cody, drill basics like a maniac!

@ Zac: Osis? Do osisx10 maybe even 20, and do this drill infinity>osisx4>rpt

Nice juggling skills Cody.

I liked how on lots of frames someone stood and watched :) and then one of them even had a hack with you :).Cool.

You 2 look like underground baggers, all cool and stuff :D shreddin it up on the streets.

Props :)

Thanks Aleksei. :D I've done Osis x 17. I just don't do it midstring. I'll concetrate more on that. Thanks. :D

Yeah Mathieu, I agree. I played better at worlds, but my style was shit. I've tried to change it a bit, so it makes some moves harder.

And thank you a SHIT TON Dave, that's exactly what I was looking for.

I don't mean to like, defend what's in this video, but it is pretty old and I think we're both better than this now.

I really appreciate the responses (especially Dave's).

I will take some clips of some better strings pretty soon just to show you guys my actual level.

I really do appreciate the responses (like, more than you know) so please keep them coming.

Cody, you really need to lace your shoes tighter :P

Your quantum and atomic ducking is really good, it has gotten even better since worlds. Slapping ducking mirage was really hot.

I liked a few of your stuff Zac, nice and clean tomahawk ;). I really think it's the first clean one I see you doing. Some nice runs, the rev whirl run was good and I liked the one with the datw midstring. I like your variety, however you should try to clean up a few of your dexes especially pdx whirls and flux which you the often.

I won't comment on bothsidedness because I said most of what I think, however, never as well as David did and he did explained everything with the best perspective so there's nothing to add.

It was cool meeting both of you at worlds, keep it up!

yeah, We filmed this right before i started drilling flipside hard. so thats where all my progress has come since the video is from flipside. i also started throwing whirls into my runs and they are really clean. my flip clipper is a ton strongermy flip toe is sonsiderably better now.

Zac has gotten alot better since we made the video because... he's zac miley.

and thanks for the advice clavens, i've hit 5 ripwalks (not a fluke) and i messed around with ripped warrior and thought it was good but zac said the set was a little slurry, but really i'm just practicing flip for a while. alot of pdx mirages and stuff.
