Yo, everyone I'm 1 month deep on the warning list for posting a link to f******f*****.*** under the green porno thread. So, everyone PLEASE try EXTRA hard to provoke me in the next month so that I can get a temporary ban. In fact, maybe I can really freak out and get a permanant ban. Any and all help will be appreciated.

So were the mods planning on telling us about this change of policy, or does the community get no say in how the forum is run?

I'm not aware of any change in policy.

The mods removed it as we say we will do in the rules.

This particular offense constituted a "repeated breach" and the user was given a warning that he is skating particualrly close to a ban.

It may be that he was mistakenly given some time limit to his "warning status". I have not seen the PM he was sent. If that was the case I'll make sure it is rectified.

As for there being some sort of "warning list" the mods do keep a record of warnings and breaches of the rules so we know when repeated breaches have occured.

There is currently no set time limit in which warnings are relevant to future offenses, mods simply consider the nature of the offense, the user's history and the user's recent form.

Sam claims that he's essentially on a 1 month probation; did he make that up, or is there really some rule where if you're on the "warning list" you face some penalty for reoffending within a month? Can you show me where that's written in the forum rules?

The only thing clear is that the mods chose the mods, the mods make the rules, and the community will find out about these alleged rules on an 'as needed' basis.

The moderators and their rules have never been a reflection of the community.

That's not true at all. When I was a moderator we ran a survey of all the members and tried to follow their feedback. I also tried to make decisions based on what the expectations of the forum were, not my own expectations and I quit my position in charge because I felt that other people running the forum were making secret decisions about the running of the forum for their own benefits or imposing their own moral views onto the forum. There were long running debates and in the end I didn't want to have my name attached to such decisions. There certainly was a brief period where at least the rules were a reflection of the community.

I agree that the moderators have never been a reflection of the community. I don't think that on a forum like this they should have any authority to make decisions without the input of the forum as a whole. It shouldn't be a position of power, it should be a position of implementing the wishes of the forum, whatever those wishes are and regardless of the opinions of the moderator doing the implementing.

So can you show me where it's written in the rules that people will go on a "warning list" for offences and stay on that "warning list" for a period of time decided by the moderators - essentially on probation?

Man, I wish someone would go find the old threads now to show how silly it is for Jeremy to act like he was Mod of the people =/

I certainly made a lot of mistakes as a mod, and learned a lot from it, I also was in a lot of arguments defending you. Remember when you were banned for "making physical threats" - the physical threats being along the lines of; "If you come down to Seattle I'll kick your ass?" I was the only mod/admin who didn't think that was something somebody should be banned over.

People say I'm different in real life than online, actually you are wrong. You should think back if you have ever tried to censor me or dictate how I can act in person, and then when you realize you haven't, then you can understand that it is actually you who are different online. Different online because you try and limit what thoughts I am aloud to express. If you tried to do that to me in person, well... find out if you want.
