Ban Texta

He's clearly a troll. He doesn't play footbag and he's basically never played. He just posts here to try and start fights and to insult people, particularly me. There's no benefit to modified, footbag or any of the people on this forum with him being here. I don't understand why this hasn't happened already. Go read over his posts, and if you disagree please explain why.

If we search through some (most/any) of his old posts, yes, we can definitely find flamey/trollish posts. Action wasn't taken with Texta when it should have been, over a year ago when he last posted, and that sucks. If it happens again, PM a mod with a link and they'll take action if they think it qualifies in any way as being inappropriate. Looking at his is recent posts in
here there isn't flaming, just a sibling trying to annoy his brother. And that sucks, but until there's flaming or
any other rule-breaking, no action will be taken.
Because of his behavior over the years, and the fact that he has received a warning PM from the mods in the past, next time he breaks a rule action will be taken.

He doesn't play footbag at all. He's only posting on the forum to start fights. What purpose is there in not banning him now, as you say he should have been in the past? Here is an opportunity to stop fights from happening on modified without putting off any footbag players...

He isn't the only person who doesn't play footbag on this forum, and I'm pretty sure that's not a criteria for posting on Modified. If he breaks a rule, he is banned.

That could be said for all his posts. He's somebody who doesn't play footbag, never has, and the only thing he does on the forum is attack me. It's clearly a case of repeated attacks and no other purpose than causing forum disruption.

Moderators decide if someone gets banned, not you. Now two mods have said they aren't going to ban him, yet, so just accept it.

It's a community forum, so it makes sense that people within the community express their opinions as to what they'd like to see happen, since in a sense they are the forum.
Texta's now been banned, which I obviously think was the right decision, and I'd like to say thanks to the moderators and admins for that, and apologise to the rest of the forum for the behaviour of my brother.

I just want to take this opportunity to say that if someone is being singled out and antagonized by another user, they do need to tell us mods if they want something to be done about it. That does not mean just because someone asks for a person to be banned, they will be banned, but it will start a discussion between the mods.
A PM is probably the most direct way, and in some cases I'm sure the preferred way, simply because it is easy for the mods to miss a post or a topic, or even antagonistic PMs (in fact we would only know about these if they are brought to our attention).
While it might seem very different than this current situation, we as mods do have to take seriously issues like cyber-bullying. I know Jeremy's got a thick skin and can handle some internet heat, but there are also a lot of younger folks who use this forum or may use it in the future, and we need to make it clear that we don't foster an environment where somebody can get singled out and attacked and harassed.
We initially made an oversight regarding some ongoing personal attacks that Texta was making. Specifically, Texta was in ongoing violation of the rules for his signature, which was a deliberate personal attack against Jeremy. We apologize for the initial mistake but feel we ultimately made the right decision. At the point where we could have taken action on the signature, it was already decided that Texta would receive no more chances. So rather than give him another chance to avoid consequences, he has been banned.
Being a footbagger or not is not necessarily criteria for mods to consider. We do want modified to be as open as possible for the whole footbag community, and want to ban people from participating in the community as little as possible. We know that modified is only a small part of footbag, but it can be very important for some players as a way to connect with other players and participate in the sport.
