anyone seen these? the toe walls see smaller than lavers. i've heard this brand has weak soles in general, but so do lavers, oh and does anyone know how le coqs sizing compares? cause they have a half size smaller than my lavers, and their like $30 at finishline.com

Do they come in black? If you show me a website, I'll buy a pair, mod them, and post results...

Have you seen Tricks of the Trade 1? Kenny uses Le Coq's for that movie. I've heard they work great, but don't last long.

There was a thread about these a while ago. (I hate to be the one to say this, buuut: use the search button :) )

The jist was basically that they aren't very good. I remember one of the paramount reasons being that the sole was terrible. Maybe you can dig that thread up if you have the interest.

Nope. Tennis. And if you say that they're NOT perfect for tennis, then I think you're wrong. They have wicked support and if you don't chop them up, they're pretty comfy, I'd imagine. Also, g-units have a nice sticky sole. These Le Coqs, on the other hand, have things that other desirable footbag shoes do not have. Let's start with that logo on the side. On the one hand, it may not make a difference. On the other, it's added extra bulk on the shoe that you're gonna end up modding off, which obviously wouldn't be fun, and would run the risk of ripping the mesh. I remember hearing as well that the sole actually was total garbage, and the inside (where you catch your clippers) is shaped more like a skate shoe and less like a tennis shoe. Straight up, I think you're better off going the extra mile (the extra mile being buying your shoes off the internet) and buying some lavers or goonits; because although these shoes may work alright for footbag (with a crap load of modding) you're probably better off going with a shoe that is proven to be good for footbag, and isn't a total nightmare to mod.

he has footbag shoes... i dont think hes looking for a first pair... if i remember al has 2 pairs of lavers... hes just checking to see if these ones would be cool or not. i could be wrong though. but i do know al has footbag shoes.

and about the "trouble" of modding shoes... climas are a huge hastle to mod of the stripes but its well worth it in the end. comparing the logo on the outside to modding it off and saying itll cut the mesh is the same risk you take with any footbag shoes that you mod. it may be difficult but it could be worth while in the end.

and about the soles being garbage... i dont know. i havent seen these shoes. al, maybe you could find a retail store near you that carries them and you could go try them on and look at them in person. you could probably find them cheaper online but it would still be cool to hold them before you buy them.

Yeah I was basically assuming that he was looking for these shoes as a first shred shoe. That's what I do all the time.

Anyway, read:
http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopi ... highlight=

Chris Balch did buy these shoes, and as I said before, the sole is garbage. If you look at the picture in that thread when compared to Lavers, the Le Coqs don't have that wicked rounded inside, and apparently the sole is round, not flat.

And in comparison to Climas, these Le Coqs are a total nightmare to mod. After I understood the right idea of clima modding, it took me no time to do it without screwing up. My climas are devoid of holes. On the other hand, if you look real close at the Le Coq symbol, its stitched in under the eyelets. So you actually have to pull up the stitches on the eyelets thing just to get at it. And then, after getting it off of the top, you have to rip like crazy to get it from underneath the sole. Although modding on climas may be difficult, it's not a requirement to destroy the shoe to do it properly.

EDIT: In closing, I think these shoes are definitely more footbag friendly than an unmodded pair of Montgomery Wards, but if you're looking for a footbag shoe for footbag, then buy climas or goonits or lavers. If you're looking for a styley wicked cool looking shoe that you can kick in, then go grab some cocks.

A word to the wise:

The logos on shoes such as the NB 520s and 300s, and also the Cocks, doesnt hinder stalling at all. Well... ive only played with both the NB shoes and it didnt hurt me. I guess i cant say for sure about the cocks. Anyways, long story short, logos dont need to be modded off.

Yea, those shoes were posted about a while ago. I think Troy Erstling (I'm not sure if I spelled the name right, or even if its the right guy) bought them and said he'd mod them out after wearing them as regular shoes for a couple months.

Haven't heard anything bout them since though.

they look a bit too "leathery" to me.. doesn't look as though there's much underneath there... like there wouldn't be any playable toe surface.

I've talked to Troy a month or two ago about these shoes (Memorial Weekend maybe?) and he still has high confidence in these shoes. I've even looked into it myself, and they do seem pretty substantial.

The only problem I find in them is that the sole is designed a bit like a skate shoe, where it's a bit flexible and thin to feel the ground. Plus, since it's so thin, it doesn't really have that great of a clipper surface like Lavers, G-units or Quantums. I'm not too sure of how it would pertain to the shoe's shock absorption (since I haven't tested it that expansively, but it's definitely worth a try. The modding capabilities are there.

if memory serves me right, i remeber there being another layer like g6's but i see what wasabi means by the thin soles, that could also mean that they dont need too much time to break-in and if you get good insoles it wont be a problem.
